This graffiti attracted me because of the depicted elephant in the company of a young girl. At the sight of this graffiti I got the association with India where elephants are national heritage animals. Indian elephants are worshipped and residents organize special events called Elephant Festivals. For that special occasion elephants are full of decorations and painted with various patterns of variegated colours. On the other days, when elephants are not part of the celebrating event, they help people with their daily routine. In India many elephants are trained and used as a means of transport, and for helping on the farms.

Pupils of Pakistan school have made posters in which they pointed an important and very topical issue of 21-st century. In modern politics there is more and more focus on environmental problems. Humanity has been using nature for it's own interests with the purpose to satisfy it's needs and not considering the consequences. But they have become very obvious in the last few years. The weather is changing constantly and natural disasters are ever more frequent. It is important that people from all over the world start to fight against pollution together. Ecological awareness is very important and should be present not only in developed countries, but spread between all nations of our common planet.

interesting way of thinking - if you trust that things will somehow work out, they most likely will. If your expectations are very rigid and high, on the other hand, disappointment is more likely. Quite true.

Yeah, it's so true.
I think "life is free" reminds me that it is full of possibilities. Maybe we will let our dream come true if we just TRY. We need to trust, and give a chance to ourselves. Then, there's nothing impossible to us!

Hi, Tajda. Nice interpretation. The 'problem' with being active is that it requires effort and by nature we are selective in choosing where we invest it. Short-term gains blur long-term benefits - our general human weakness I'd say.

I don't think that deaths of animals are the ultimate problem in meat industry – it's the way they are being treated before entering slaughterhouses. Undeniably, there's still a relative amount of small, family farmers that handle animals with respect and care, but that's evidently not the case in larger corporations running meat production. Unfortunately, those large companies represent a great majority of our meat supply.
I also think that we would have a bigger proportion of vegetarians if people had to kill animals with their own hands before eating them. Yet again, the society always finds reasons to justify eating meat, whether it is religion, tradition or a misconception that their death is painless and quick. In all likelihood it's utopian to expect that at some point in the future everyone's going to be vegetarian, but at the same time it's right that people are being made aware of the origins of their food, even with such 'chicken burger' graffiti.

Despite a large number of credible studies dealing with the effects of marijuana, a definite answer about its legalisation has still not been found. Even though nearly everyone has an opinion about whether it should or shouldn't be legalised, we have to keep in mind that this is a very complex question. In my opinion, the decision should be left to scientists. On the other hand, who is to say they wouldn't want to benefit from it?
I suppose if the government benefited from legalising marijuana, they would legalise it in no time. Alcohol and cigarettes contain health-damaging substances and they're legal, sufficiently filling the public purse. Moreover, several studies even suggest that marijuana is less harmful than alcohol and tobacco. However, studies like this frequently encourage young people to engage in drug abuse, so they can be a double-edged sword.

As Sasa and Murowc have said, this graffiti is a great thought to keep us motivated throughout our everyday routine. We often seem to get caught up in the world of work and simply forget how to take some time off and relax our minds. At this point I would like to make another, seemingly contradictory observation about the graffiti. Although the text suggests we should live life to the fullest, another message might be hidden in it – a message about our passivity. While we certainly try to solve our personal problems or public issues, we still don't have enough courage to take decisions today. It is not a secret that changes need to be made and we need to act responsibly – but yet we fail to achieve that. Major economic problems are not the only threats that we're facing – environmental pollution, nuclear weapons and slavery are all issues we hear about every day, but do we really take action? Do we really try to change anything?
I would say that this is the biggest issue we're facing – our ignorance. We're prepared to criticize everyone around us, but not prepared to look at ourselves and change. It might seem like a radical statement, but this graffiti could simply be saying that if we don't take action today, it might be too late for us tomorrow.

I am aware this graffiti is meant to be taken in a humorous manner, but I simply cannot perceive it that way. It is degrading towards women and enhances the stereotype of women supposably being more emotional than men. The fact that a woman is wearing the shirt with this demeaning sign does not help. It makes it all the more ironic.

In this graffiti we can see that the word love is taken from the name of the country called Slovenia. It could mean that Slovenia is a love country, but that is not quite true. In Slovenia, like in any other country, there are people who do not like each other, for example members of certain subcultures or ethnic minorities can feel excluded. Although it seems that Slovenia is a very pleasant country, unfortunately I disagree. Slovenian people are very reserved and they do not eagerly accept different people who come from other countries. Because of that I really wonder why the title of the graffiti says: I love Slovenia.

Life without love is not worth living. Most people would agree with this statement, but I have a different take on this matter. The fact that so many people put the love they have for their significant other above everything else seems irational to me. Relationships we have with our family and friends should be considered as equally important. I believe we should pay a bit more attention to people that are close to us outside our partnership instead of taking them for granted.

Such a simple word yet it arouses so many emotions and questions. Even though most people fear death, some of them are stuck in an everyday routine and are not fully taking advantage of what life can really offer. Instead of taking chances and going for what they really desire, they rather take the easy road. This reminds me of the saying: »Anything worth having, doesn't come easy.«

I associate this graffiti with pollution and factories that continuously poison our planet Earth. In this day and age pollution has become a critical issue for huma- kind. I believe the author of this graffiti wanted to show us how this problem has affected our once unpolluted nature. Because of the numerous side effects such as acid rain, the shrinkage of rainforests and dangerous gases released into the ozone layer, we should start being more conscious about our reckless behaviour.

I think this graffiti sends a brave and powerful message about severe inequality in the world. I applaud to the one who drew this because in this day and age we should start being more conscious about the fact that heterosexuality is not the only sexuality that exists and certainly not the most dominant. Perhaps if we had more graffiti such as this one, it would encourage certain individuals to become more open to different types of people.

Although the comment above views this graffiti as an addiction to computers, personally this picture painfully reminds me of the workload we deal with once we enter college. The change in seasons implies that we are so busy with the schoolwork we have that we barely have time for anything else. Or perhaps that is just my cynical view when it comes to school.

This graffiti seems rather plain at first sight. A poorly drawn Christmas tree, it is not even the appropriate colour. I can see in this - the spirit of Christmas which we usually associate with something positive but the black colour of the Christmas tree gives it a gloomy and lonely feel. I suppose the person who drew this was feeling lonely, although Christmas should be accompanied with joy and happiness. I presume not everybody has a loving family or group of friends to celebrate the holidays.

Stop abortion.

Posted by Lea on 29.3.2012 20:25

As it is obvious this graffiti carries a clear message and it opposes abortion. A person who made it was probably involved in a movement against legalizing abortion or the person just wanted to express his/her feelings about pregnant women having the possibility to make an abortion when she does not want to have her baby. Abortion is already legalized in all 50 states in USA. In some parts of the world, however, it is still illegal. In Chile, El Salvador, Malta and Vatican City, abortion is under no circumstances legal. In some countries it depends on the circumstances if it is legal or not. For example, in Colombia it is legal to make an abortion only if mother's life is in danger. Legalizing abortion is a big issue and it raises a lot of questions such as: Should it be legal and a right? Or is it a murder? Let us think about it for a moment. For example, a young woman finds out that she is, say, two weeks pregnant, but because of her circumstances she can not keep the baby. Two weeks mean that the baby is not even formed yet. It is still a few cells - epiblast, slowly evolving in the mother's body. Is it already a murder if a woman at that time decides to have an abortion? She would only be getting rid of the cells that would, if the process continued, become a baby. An embryo slowly evolves week after week and in the eighth week is about 1,6 cm (0.629921 inches) and it weights approximately 1 gram. During this time, which is called embryo preparation, the embryo develops many structures from the inside that will help it live after its birth. The heart is one of them. At the end of the eighth week its head and arms can already be noticed. After eight weeks the embryo is called foetus which means unborn offspring. And now its body starts to grow and its systems start to work. It has a head, arms and legs and a heart. I would say that an abortion at this time would mean killing a »living being«. If this same mother chose not to make an abortion, but still not keep the baby and give it up for adoption as soon as the baby is born, would that be better for the baby? It actually depends on the baby's circumstances. But that is debatable.

Hi Alina,
this graffiti reminds me of a scene in the Jurassic Park film, where one of the scientist warns about the danger of bringing to life creatures of the past and trying to keep them under control - he said something in the sense that life always finds a way to break free. Your comment, on the other hand, makes me think of the saying about seeing a glass half empty or half full (an optimistic vs. a pessimistic view). Could we say that we have a choice of whether to focus on what we can or on what we can't? Probably not everybody, but hopefully most of us do. Thank you for sharing your thoughtful contribution.

What strikes me in this graffiti is the confused and hopeless stare of the teddy bear. I think what the picture also tries to point out is that drug addictions are not something distant but rather something that can happen to you or anyone around you. We as a society, like to treat them in the same way as we treat diseases like cancer or AIDS, thinking it will never happen to us. I am definitely not trying to equate AIDS with drug addictions, however I would like to stress the general public's ignorance regarding the people who find themselves in those horrible situations. We can also relate this to the text in the graffiti – when a child has a toy, all of their friends would like to join and play with them. Yet, when someone is addicted to drugs, it's very likely they'll be left alone, isolated from the society.

"Even though this graffiti is simple it sends a profound message. In vino veritas translates into truth is in the wine. On one hand this statement is true because when we drink we instantly become emotionally more open and lose our moral boundaries. One the other hand the fact that we need artificial substances in order to do the aforementioned almost seems sad. I think we should look deeper into ourselves and find a reason sufficient enough enabling us to openly connect with another human being without feeling the need to enhance our emotions with alcohol."

I would like to point out the Uncle Sam figure that's drawn on the wall above. Uncle Sam is a nickname that refers to the U.S. government and dates back to 1812. He is usually dressed in clothing that reminds of the flag of the United States. Some people attribute the origin of the term to Samuel Wilson, whose nickname was Uncle Sam and was an inspector of army supplies. He was originally a unifying symbol of freedom and equality. Although there continue to be numerous variations on the image of Uncle Sam, the 1917 version drawn by James Montgomery Flagg is the one we are most familiar with. The graffiti above most likely derives from that version. The famous phrase I Want You written below Uncle Sam set his image firmly into American consciousness. His figure is still recognized everywhere in the world as a personification of the United States.

In my opinion the graffiti represents chimneys in the forms of trees. Trees are symbols of nature and chimneys represent society. Why society? Industrialization is one of the main culprits for pollution of the environment. And we, as a society, have caused the rapid industrialization.
Society is to blame for the destruction of natural fairness. Pollution caused by various gasses, littering and toxic waste is one of the biggest issues in today’s modern life. As a result of pollution many animals suffer from different illnesses and it is also the cause for the thinning of the ozone layer and consequently the green house affect.
The question of how to solve this problem remains unanswered.
I myself enjoy spending time in nature. It is very uncomfortable and sad to see while walking through forests all the waste culminating as a result of reckless littering. We must understand that nature isn’t just forests and a few animals, nature is everything around us, and it is nature who made us who we are. We are not the owners of the Earth and its nature, but merely its guests. In my home town water pollution is one of the biggest problems. Tap water is polluted to the extant, that it is necessary to boil it before consuming it. This shouldn’t be taken just as a sad thing but as a very alarming thing since it is a clear example where we will end up if we choose not to take action and protect the environment.

In the past all the creatures were equal living in the nature. When humen started to live in residence, animals lived in the same place too. Then we separated them which was fine. And now, they are like you sad - just another product to buy and cows are violet.

I could be wrong but I see a scarf in the graffiti which reminds me of a Muslim woman. And USA is viewed as a state where anyone can achieve the American dream. But since September 11 life for Muslims in USA has changed and many do not seem to be equal. Many people now are prejudiced against Muslims and they have to prove themselves again and again. At least in many American movies we can see that and movies many times represent some truth.

In this graffiti we see a sign of man and woman and a heart which is symbol of love. The added signs sum death. I think that the sign can mean the end of life as the man and woman know it after they become a couple and stay together (if they get married, for example). When they get married they eventually become parents and the main responsibility in their life are then children. They can no longer have all the time and freedom they had before. At least the first years of baby's life. Most couples start to live on their own if they can afford it and they need to start paying for everything all by themselves, they are no longer in their parents' care.

I think this graffiti is very positive because the big sun represents something optimistic and it looks like the clouds, which usually mean something pessimistic, are moving away and they are giving some space to the sun. As the graffiti is on the wall of a kindergarten, it can mean a new hope for the future of the Russian children, or that the children are a new hope for Russia.

This apple tree reminds me of the Garden of Eden. The man in the graffiti biting the apple symbolizes Adam. After Adam and Eve ate the fruit, they became mortal. God told them not to eat fruits from The Tree of Knowledge but they did, they felt guilty but the fruit tasted so good. The man in the graffiti seems happy to me and if I connect this with the story of Adam and Eve, I get the message that wrong things can be fun to do.
The apples in the graffiti can also represent knowledge and it could mean that the man is “hungry” for knowledge.
I find it very interesting that the woman on the bicycle has a duck on her head. Ducks are species of birds and birds to me represent freedom, so it could mean that she is a free-spirited person or very open minded.

As we can see, this graffiti is made as a puzzle and there are some missing pieces in it. And since there is water, the graffiti can mean two things: water can represent something good and positive suggesting that the missing pieces of the puzzle are coming back together bringing a new beginning. Alternatively, water can be very powerful and destructive so in this case the missing puzzles can mean that the life in the present form is falling apart.

Please help me? My name is Dave and I live in the United States. Can you please help me verify some very important information about your city. I am forty years old and I have never met my biological father. I have tried to verify his addresses of his home and workplace there in the city of Krasnokamsk. Can you please tell me if there is a Faina Round travel agency in Krasnokamsk? Or a music school no 2 at Sovetskaya street 29 in Krasnokamsk. I was told these were places he might be found. I was told he lived at 34 12 polodarsky street in Krasnokamsk. I would really appreciate any information you could give me. Email me at davidhouse57@yahoo.com.

This graffiti is intriguing because at first glance the stairs actually seem real. But once you look closer you realize it is an optical illusion. There could be a subliminal message behind this graffiti. Things aren't always what they seem.
