Hi Waldek,
I've resolved the issue. I was using the old 2 part web part. I've installed v14 instead and that works a treat! Excellent work :)

One question though. I have the rss feed for the CQWP but this doesn't take into account the paging. is there a way to output the RSS of what is actually on the screen i.e. adhere to the paging.

Unfortunately… that's the trick. I can't find a way to get that rss file to take any info like that.

@MossBuddy: You could hide it in CSS by using the display:none property on the Ribbon selectors. This way those ID's are still there for JavaScript but the Ribbon isn't visible to end users.

@bijesh: It could just be the case that the Imtech CQWP doesn't handle the Design mode properly. Unfortunately I have never worked with it and SPD so I cannot provide you with any more information. Have you check the ULS log to see if you can get any more information?

@Jay: You are correct: the only thing that you have to do is to enter JayColumn1 in the field for the JaySlot1 slot and the CQWP should automatically link your field to the right slot in the XSLT. Unfortunately when it comes to customizing the CQWP RSS, the options are limited as a lot of the configuration happens in the CQWP's code. I suggest you either try to customize the standard CQWP RSS XSLT or cusomize its copy and see if that will allow you to achieve the desired results.

@Roland: You're welcome. The 'Menu Command' thingy is a Visual Studio bug. Hope it will get fixed in 11.

Hello Waldek, hope you @ your best and doing gr8. In the above scenario u discussed what if we want to hide the Ribbon how do we do it (for some users) without really affecting the height and scrollbars of the page (as if you hide ribbon the init.js will look for those ids which are not there and the scroll bars go and the height becomes fixed….any idea hw to fix it?

I added a Imtech CQWP on a page in SP2010. It works fine but after editing this page in Sharepoint Designer2010 in advanced mode. This web part shows error. It says "Web Part Error: An unexpected error has occurred" . I played with it and found out this error will not occur until the page size is changed from zero. What is the issue here

I liked the tip on viewing related items from "Manage Content". CEWP can be very powerful and dangerous when it comes to widgets. Especially people familiar with SPServices jQuery. There is potential to create wonderful no code solutions with CEWP's and also potential for some massive performance and security damage in the wrong hands.
