31-year old Park Dae-seong, the controversial internet “Minerva”, has complained to police that a fake Minerva known as Mr. K used Mr. Park’s name in the monthly magazine Shin Dong-A.

Mr. Park’s attorney Park Chan-jong, through his aide Kim Seung-min, announced, “Mr. K used Mr. Park’s pen name ‘Minerva’ to write Shin Dong-A articles in December 2008 and February 2009, damaging Mr. Park’s reputation… We plan to present our complaint against Mr. K for defamation to the Seocho Police Station in Seoul today.”

Mr. Park explained the background of the problem in his complaint. “The defendant claimed the plaintiff belonged to a group accused of murder, and wrote this while using the plaintiff’s name in the Shin Dong-A while the plaintiff was the subject of an investigation by prosecutors for violating the communications law.”

Never happened to promote others Blog, but this time Reading Accurately The Grand Narrative Really I’ve understand what really everybody interested in Korea and especially about Korea society must Pay attention .

Like the tagline says, The Grand Narrative is about discussing Korean sociology through gender, advertising and popular culture, and in the process has become one of the leading internet sources for information on Korean gender issues, even getting a mention in TIME Magazine recently.

Ironically, this focus was not my original intention, but with Korea having such dubious honors as: the lowest birthrate in the world; the largest wage gap between men and women in the OECD; the lowest percentage of working women in the OECD; and actresses being sued by companies they endorse for being beaten by their husbands, then what soon emerges as the virtual gender apartheid that exists here renders those topics essential to understanding Korean society.

The Chosun Ilbo is Korea’s favorite newspaper, a survey among 10,000 people between 19 and 79 in September by Millward Brown Media Research for the Korea Advertisers Association finds.

Some 20.2 percent of respondents cited the Chosun Ilbo as their favorite paper.

But newspaper readership is falling, from 51.3 percent in 2001 to 31.5 percent this year, meaning newspaper subscriptions have dwindled nearly 20 percent over the last eight years.

A whopping 99.3 percent had a TV, with 1.47 TV sets on average per home. MBC topped the list as the favorite TV channel at 72.8 percent, followed by KBS (71.4 percent), SBS (52.9 percent), YTN (11.9 percent), and OCN (8.8 percent).

Korea has the seventh largest number of Wi-Fi locations in the world with 12,814 hotspots as of the first half of this year, a report released on Sunday reveals.

Wi-Fi hotspots are public areas such as hotel lobbies, airports and cafes where a wireless Internet connection is available for wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) devices.
