Another great video highlight reel from @jp5384 (twitter): West Virginia vs UConn on October 24, 2009. WVU wins it 28-24. This game was played in the memory of UConn player Jasper Howard who was senselessly stabbed and killed a week prior.

Andy Katz at ESPN sat down with Huggins the other day at the Big East Media day and got this interview and wrote an article about WVUs upcoming season and how bad ass we are this year.  This is my favorite part of the article:

4. Takkle –This site is specifically designed for high school athletes and coaches. Sponsored by Sports Illustrated, the site lets high school athletes meet others who share their sport.
5. Swimroom – A site for swimmers, this site is geared more toward competitive swimmers, but will be interesting to anyone who loves the sport. Champion swimmers like Michael Phelps and Katie Hoff are supporters of the site.
6. Sk8site – Designed for skateboarding enthusiasts, this site allows skaters to meet each other, keep up with upcoming events in the skateboarding world and post videos from their most extreme skating stunts.
7. Motorcross –A site for Motorcross enthusiasts, you’ll find lots of news about the world of Motorcross on this site in addition to the social networking aspect.
8. SkiSpace – This site was created for snow skiers by champion Bode Miller. There are great videos of skiing, blogs by skiers and social networking as well. It’s also a great place to find a ski resort for your next vacation.
9. Nike+ -A site for runners, Nike+ allows running enthusiasts to connect, share experiences and even share their music workout mixes. It’s also a great site for tracking your times and keeping up with your progress.
10. GolfLink – This site is an online community for golfers. You can share tips, learn about courses, and even find someone to play a round with. You can also track your own scores and progress.

There are lots more sites like these out there. In fact, it seems there’s a site for every sport, so if I haven’t mentioned your favorite here, do your own search to find the social networking site that’s right for you. These sites take social networking to a new level, because not only can you keep up with your current friends, but you’ll make new ones both to communicate with online and to compete with in person.

..the Seahawks got a full dose of Schmitt’s zany side Sunday when the second-year pro pounded his helmet to his noggin’ repeatedly after coming out of the tunnel in pregame introductions, then ran into the midst of his teammates with blood covering his entire face.

Schmitt went so ballistic on himself that trainers had to tend to the cut on his forehead during the national anthem and then wash the blood off his face and the front of his jersey in order to get him on the field in time for Seattle’s second play from scrimmage.

“That was, man, gruesome but beautiful at the same time,” linebacker Lofa Tatupu said. “I don’t know if that’s possible. But that got us going. Myself, D.D. #BeatWVU Tomorrow

In case you’ve been hiding under a rock, the Syracuse Twitterati has been hammering hashtag beatdowns on the Friday before each of the Orange’s football games this season.

Tomorrow it will continue with #BeatWVU.

Sean has been publishing “Best Of” posts on Friday evenings recapping the hashtag activity. Tomorrow, though, looks like it could be the ugliest of all the hashtag affairs. The Syracuse Twitterati is growing crazy large and active, and West Virginia has a large contingent as well. Friday should be the apex of this little experiment.

I highly encourage everyone to get on Twitter for, at a minimum, tomorrow. It’s worth it, not only for the hashtag cracks but the live-game commentary is rock solid. The stuff you will see will make you laugh and probably cringe.

This is West Virginia, people, and the shit is going to be hitting the fan from sunrise to sunset.

For the members of the Syracuse Twitterati, I say this: Bring good shit tomorrow. Don’t bother Googling cracks because we’ve already seen that tired stuff a thousand times before. We’re definitely winning in quantity and fervor, now it’s time to refine and smack some quality.

A 140-character crack is tough to make, but with a short hashtag this week, there’s no excuse for a resounding victory.

So WVU Mountaineer Twitterati, it’s time to show these fruits, er.. Orangemen what Mountaineer Nation is all about. Lets take their challenge and flip it on them with the #BeatSU or #beatSyracuse hash tag.

They say they will crack on WV and WVU pretty hard, which we all know is easy to do with the plethora of WV jokes out there. This our chance to hit them back and trust me, it’s a lot of fun to do this on Twitter.

So, like Hoya, I encourage all WVU Students, Alumni and fans to finally take the plunge and join Twitter, and make sure the first person you follow is @Mountaineer. It’s time for more WVU fans to be on Twitter anyway!

FINALLY, the WVU vs. Syracuse game time has been announced.

Look for this game at NOON on Saturday, October 10, 2009. You can look for it, but might have trouble finding it. The game is being shown on ESPN Regional. <– has always confused me. Regionally in Morgantown or regional in Syracuse or both?? Who knows. I will post more if/when I find out, and if you guys know if the game will be played in your area, post in the comments please.
