Great story-telling, poetic lyrics, excellent playing, and quirky humor have made him an audience favorite and won him many awards, for both songwriting and performance.

Canadian and U.S. Roots music are different streams that spring from a common source. His music feels a bit like coming home. John will be accompanied by a Calgary master-fiddler, Scott Duncan.

http://www.wtmd.org/events_new/events/index.php?com=detail&eID=8139

Thursday, June 9th
FRANK SOLIVAN & DIRTY KITCHEN
Tickets $20.00 – Showtime 8:00 pm
The stellar music reviews came rolling in as Frank Solivan and Dirty Kitchen released their first self-titled debut album in late Summer 2010. The album is currently in heavy rotation on Sirius/XM Radio's Bluegrass Junction, and the band is on the road playing a rigorous schedule of tour and festival dates. FS&DK have quickly gained a name for themselves as an act of solid musicianship, sound songwriting, excellent vocals and an enthusiastic live show.
FRANK SOLIVAN – Mandolinist and lead singer Frank Solivan, is a singer of power and passion, a writer whose articulate songs go straight to the heart and a multi-instrumentalist who combines the pure, hard drive of classic bluegrass with twenty-first century sophistication. He began winning fiddle contests at a young age in California and in July of '95, moved to Alaska. He played fiddle with The Doug Dillard Band and Ginger Boatwright while he balanced his schooling and violin studies at the University of Alaska Anchorage. He also played with other top notch country and bluegrass bands during his stint in Alaska and found himself opening for Reba, Alison Krauss and Union Station, Brooks and Dunn and more.
MIKE MUNFORD – Mike is one of the hidden treasures of the five string banjo world. Mike grew up in the sixties and seventies in the bluegrass hotbed of Baltimore and D.C. and assimilated just about everything that all the great players in that area could offer. When Mike Munford plays you hear all things that great banjo players strive to achieve, power, drive, impeccable timing, exquisite tone and jaw-dropping technique. Mike performs in several bands including The Hard Travelers.
STEFAN CUSTODI – Stefan Custodi is a natural born musician. Put an instrument in his hand — any instrument and he'll instantly make music. Give him a few more minutes and he'll already be understanding the instruments complexities and subtleties. Hailing from Aiken South Carolina, on stand up bass, Stefan has a deep appreciation of rootsy — earthy songs that make up some of the bluegrass repertoire. The simple lines that speak volumes about hardship or lost love or lost home or found faith. Stefan also has just the right touch of gravel, of real life, in his voice that lends itself to the perfect expression of those lines.
LINCOLN MEYERS – Guitarist Lincoln Meyers presently makes his home in Durham, New Hampshire. Lincoln has soaked up the flawless styles of the great masters — Doc Watson, Tony Rice, Norman Blake, David Grier and synthesized it into his own style defined by flat out good taste — whether it be a slow ballad or an instrumental at breakneck speed. Lincoln seems to know where it came from. Watch him play a lead guitar break at 170 beats per minute and you'll ask yourself, "Did I just hear Lincoln Meyers nail that, at that speed, and not miss a single note on an old Martin D-18 with high action?" Yes you did! In that regard, Lincoln fits right in with this high-powered ensemble. (www.dirtykitchenband.com)
