Extended support for Vista ends on April 11, 2017

We highly encourage everyone to try Windows 7, also if you have a curious mind give the Windows 8 Consumer Preview a try!

The DVD release date is based on speculation. The Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 DVD was released exactly 5 months after the film was released in theaters. However, December is holiday season, so it’s more likely they will release it before the holiday season.

As is the inevitable par for the course for game consoles, the Wii’s time has effectively come to the end. Sales have declined dramatically and many are sitting in cupboards gathering dust. It is as this point that the manufacturer announces that the new and improved version will soon be revealed. Nintendo are no exception, and the Wii U is set to be unveiled in June at the E3 Expo in Los Angeles.

The official statement on the Nintendo website states that the as yet unnamed successor will be available to buy from 2012. Very little official information has been released regarding this latest console, so the rumor mill has gone into overtime. These should really be taken with a pinch of salt at best. It wasn’t that long ago that the buzz words were Playstation 4 and Xbox 720. These rumors turned out to be, at best, wispy.

The first rumor to circulate came from ‘Game Informer’, who cited multiple sources as their informant. These sources claim that this new revamped Wii will be HD ready. This doesn’t seem to be as thrilling a tidbit as first thought however, surely HD consoles are a natural progression considering that the majority of TV’s these days are in full HD or, at the very least, HD ready.

The rumor that the Wii U will have a touch screen display comes courtesy of 01net.com. This site has previous form, having released the specs for the Sony NPG Handheld long before the official unveiling. It’s tempting to believe this one, and it isn’t too far fetched that the Wii U could indeed be powered by a 3 core power PC chip, and uses a game pad with a touch screen.

One of the rumors was that it would be in 3D. Nintendo seem to have dismissed this by saying that they wouldn’t be going down this route until glasses free technology was of a much higher standard than it is at present. The first Wii was a groundbreaking console, and Nintendo want to keep the momentum going, not disappoint customers and lose sales by adding second rate technology.

At the end of the day we can surmise all we like, but only Nintendo really know what this new console will consist of. It’s widely expected that it will be of basically the same concept just revamped, regenerated and with better graphics. The old adage comes to mind that ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’, and this seems to fit the Wii perfectly.
