Google Wave Invitation Giveaway

In the last few days I got a bunch of emails from people regarding Google wave invitations,and all of them asked me the same question: How to invite others to Google Wave?, so instead of replying them individually I thought it would be much better to post the solution to their common problem here.

So lets come to the point of inviting others to Google wave. First make sure you are having “Invite others to google wave” wave in your wave inbox. It looks like this (see the screenshot below)

If you don’t have this wave in your inbox then you can’t invite others to google wave right now, and the only thing you can do about this is wait for few days until that invite wave appears in your wave inbox.

To start the inviting process click on the “Invite others to Google wave”. On the right hand side this invite wave will get opened where you can enter your friends email address to invite him/her to Google wave.

Please do keep one thing in mind that wave invitations are not sent immediately, it may take hours or even days.

How To Invite Others To Google Wave

Facebook allows you to share links, videos, pictures etc with your friends. Sometimes people like the shared content and they can express this by hitting the Like button, but there is no option for disliking the shared content till now, so they can’t show their disapproval on any shared content.

However if you are a firefox user, then with the help of facebook dislike add-on, you can get a dislike button to show your dissatisfaction on any shared link, pictures, videos etc. So install the facebook dislike add-on from this link: Facebook dislike add-on.

Once this add-on is installed you will find a dislike button on every shared content at faceboook. In the screenshot above you can easily notice the Dislike button in between Unlike and Share button.

How To Dislike Stuff On Facebook: Facebook Tips

By adding a watermark to your images you can overcome the problem of their unauthorised use. So its always a good practice to insert a watermark in your images  to increase image security. Though image watermarking will not completely eradicate image theft, but it will hopefully prevent it in many cases.

So lets start image watermarking in Photoshop. First open up any image in photoshop, select the Horizontal type tool (Text tool) in photoshop.

Click on the image at the point where you want to add a watermark and then add the text of whatever font, size and colour you want.

Now select the whole text whatever you have written and then click on Layer tab at the top. Now select the Layer style option and then click on Blending options.

Photoshop offers various blending options like General blending options, custom blending options and Advanced blending options.

Custom blending options include drop shadow, inner shadow, outer glow effects etc while general blending options allows you to alter the opacity of the text that you’ve written for producing watermark. If you are looking for a basic watermark then you better go for either custom blending options or general blending options.

After selecting the blending option of your choice, click OK and your image will get watermarked.

In my case I have used the drop shadow custom blending option and also i’ve changed the opacity ( from general blending options) of the text written on the image to get a watermarked image that looks like this.

How Watermark Images With Photoshop: Photoshop Tutorial

Facebook sends you a notification email when someone adds you as a  friend, when someone writes on your wall, comments on your post etc. Though its good to stay informed about the latest happenings at your facebook account but sometimes large number of email notifications from facebook really annoys users. So if you are among those users then here is what you can do for it.

Actually facebook allows you to manage facebook email notifications thereby enabling you to recieve the email notification for only those things in which you are interested.
So, How to manage facebook email notifications? Well you are not required to do much for this, just a simple tweak in facebook notification settings will do it for you. Follow these steps to get it done.

Step1: Click on the Settings tab that can be accessed from top right corner of any facebook page, then click on the Notifications tab.

Step2: On this Notifications page you can change the facebook email notification settings. On this page you can find various actions that involve you.(few of them are shown in the screenshot below).

If you want to get an alert for a particular action then make sure the checkbox next to that particular action is checked. On the other hand if you don’t want to get an email alert for a particular action simply uncheck the checkbox next to it. Finally click on the Save changes button at the bottom of the page.

Now after this simple tweak in settings, facebook will send you only those notifications in which you are interested.

How To Manage Facebook Email Notifications: Facebook Privacy Tips

If you are a twitter lover and you’ve got a wave invite with you then i am sure you would be happy to know that you can integrate your twitter account in Google wave. That means you you can tweet right from your google wave interface without the need of going to twitter.com.

So here’s how you can integrate twitter with Google wave: Just follow the steps mentioned below.

Step1: In the left bottom corner of Google wave interface you can see + symbol just in front of Manage contacts. Click on it to add a contact with this address tweety-wave@appspot.com

Click on submit and Tweety will be added to your contacts.

Step2: Now create a new wave and click the + symbol to add a new participant to it. Add Tweety the Twitbot to this newly created wave.

The moment you will add Tweety to your wave, you will see an authenticating message and twitter sign in window will appear (make sure the pop-ups are not blocked else you would not see twitter login window).

Step3: Once your login pop-up appears, enter your log in details to sign in and after that a window will appear asking you to allow the Tweety application to access and update your data on twitter. So simply click Allow to give the access to Tweety.

Finally click on the Done button in your wave, after that you will see something like shown in the screenshot below & guess what? Its all done now & your Google wave is all set to start tweeting. Enjoy

How to Tweet From Google Wave: Integrate Twitter With Google Wave

Many people are still looking for google wave invite but if you have snagged one from someone then its time to start experimenting with it! We have already talked about what is google wave and its features , how to use google wave and how to create a google wave etc. Now in this post I will let you know how you can make your wave public in Google Wave.

Well before diving in to create a public wave, lets understand a bit about public wave, what actually public wave is? Well public wave is a wave in which anyone can participate, anyone can view or reply to it and anyone can access its content.

How to make your wave public in Google wave? To make your wave public in google wave follow these two simple steps.

Step 1: In the contacts module you can see a ‘+’ button just in front of Manage contacts, this button is used for adding a contact. Click on that + sign. Now add public@a.gwave.com to your contact list by typing public@a.gwave.com in the address field as shown in the screenshot below and then pressing the enter button.

Once you have added the contact the public group will appear in your contacts list, as shown in the screenshot below.

Step 2: Add public to any of your wave which you want to make public and that’s it, you’re done. You have succesfully created a public wave.

Note: You are require to add public@a.gwave.com to your contacts, every single time you log in to your wave account, to create a public wave.

How To Make a Public Wave: Google Wave Tips

Few weeks back when i got my google wave invite from one of my friends then at that time I really had no idea how to use Google wave but after some research on its tutorials I managed to get started with it quite easily.

Anyway if you are a newbie at Google wave then you might be thinking how to Create a wave or how to get started with google wave? If these are the questions in your mind then just read on and follow these two simple steps to get your wave created.

1: Click on New Wave in your google wave interface. This will allow you to enter your message in the wave.

2: When you’re done with your message typing click on Done which will prompt you to add the contacts to participate in your newly created wave.

So this is how a wave is created. All wave participants are shown at the top. Within a wave, all invited participants can see all content, except for private replies.
