We will rebrand copyright management organisation, Copyright Agency. The not-for-profit company connects creators and users of copyright material and represents authors, journalists, visual artists, photographers and publishers as their non-exclusive agent to license the use of their works for education and business.

The creative brief comes off the back of a new business arrangement which will see Copyright Agency manage some services for another copyright management organisation, Viscopy, and is a key part of increasing awareness about the value of creative content to both creators and users.

“Our organisation manages an important part of copyright for creators and publishers – the right to reproduce their works” said CEO of Copyright Agency, Jim Alexander.

The not-for-profit, member-based company has distributed nearly $1 billion since 1989 and now represents the reproduction and communication rights of tens of thousands of Australian creators and publishers.

“Our new identity must, first and foremost, communicate our values and positioning. In essence, the company rewards, stimulates and promotes creativity and the ongoing generation of new works, by providing an income stream to the creators and producers of those works. This activity drives a significant contribution to Australia’s educational, artistic, economic and cultural strength, heritage and future.”

As one of the objectives of the rebrand, we will also be charged with the task of reflecting the increasing role the organisation is playing in managing copyright for digital content creators. “Given the extent to which digital content is now becoming more and more a part of our business, we need an identity that is meaningful in an age of digital communication,” said Alexander.

Everyone at Frost* is excited to be involved with an organisation that is so vital to the survival of Australian artists and cultural contributors.

“The Copyright Agency works to ensure that artists and creative content makers can continue to make work and contribute to the cultural life of this country. I’m thrilled to be working with them to ensure their identity better communicates the positive contribution they make and help organisations who may not realise that they are infringing others’ rights to reproduce materials responsibly. Nurturing creativity in all its forms is something I’m incredibly passionate about, so it feels good to be involved in this project”

The rebrand is scheduled to be unveiled in May.

Frost* has been prominently featured in Michelle Galindo’s highly anticipated release, ‘Signage Design’ as readers become exposed to our most recent environmental and signage project completions. The works featured highlight our success in the development of signage elements for The Powerhouse Museum, the design for an identification and intuitive wayfinding system for The Ritz Carlton, Hong Kong and new interior and exterior signage projects undertaken for the Queen Victoria Building. Other work featured includes our suspended directional and wayfinding signage implementation for Chatswood Chase, Sydney.
