Playstation 3 Headsets

My wife bought me one of the NEW Sony Playstation 3 wireless headsets for Christmas this year. I like the new headset, but I also miss my old Playstation 2 wired headset. It was nice because it was small, and didn’t have many controls. If it wasn’t for the fact that my old headset stopped working because of something to the effect of the condenser microphones wearing out. The new headset has a mic mute, voice volume, and sound volume. The new headset is not Bluetooth. These are much nicer than a standard Bluetooth earpiece because no one else has to hear what is going on in the game.

The headset retails for @$99.99. It comes with a usb adapter that allows the headset to communicate with the PS3. There is a full onscreen visualization of what is what with the headset when being used.

I recommend this headset for the full gaming experience.

Some Suggestions For Upcoming Battlefield Titles

Having played almost every Battlefield title that has been released I have seen a lot of new things get added to the game. In Battlefield for the PC the soldiers were able to “Zip Line” into battle. I think that is something that should be brought back. I also think that the soldiers should be able to carry some sort of “Bolt” type gun so that they can quickly get up buildings, etc. quicker. One other thing that would be rather interesting is if they made it so that jeeps, and such could carry other vehicles. Maybe put something like a kuat bike rack on the jeeps so that motorcycles could be transported for use in the field.

There are a lot of things that could be added to make the game more “Arcade” like. These additions would not be welcomed by true Battlefield players. We don’t want another dull shooter.

Gaming With Class

Have you ever noticed how many people out there seem like they got a degree online in video gaming? Many of the people I play online with have a vast amount of skills at gaming. Other people that I game against only have skills because they find exploits in games and take advantage of them. I for one can’t stand cheaters. I know that many companies fight to stop cheating the best that they can. For the most part there aren’t many ways of hacking PS3, and XBox games. Many PC games have issues because people find ways to cheat, and hack games.

I am not claiming to be the best video gamer on the planet, but I do play with class.

Gaming And Cold Weather

In our house my wife, and I smoke cigarettes. We do not smoke inside because we don’t want to subject our little one to smoke. When I am heavily engaged in my video gaming I take a cigarette to the front porch, and I smoke it. With the extremely cold weather that we are getting right now this is going to make me have to weigh out when I will smoke because I don’t have heated clothing. During the summer I am put in a different situation because it is so hot outside. This would be great for air conditioned clothing.

Do you do anything that makes you stand out with your gaming?

Battlefield 3 Is Truly Incredible

Battlefield 3 is by far one of the best games that I have played to date. Each installment gets better, but this is the most entertaining. The new Back to Karkand expansion pack brings back a lot of maps that I played in earlier versions of Battlefield, just having better graphics, and additional features. Having the pure power of jets, copters, tanks, jeeps, boats, and personell vehicles makes this title top all other shooters that are on the market currently.

Some of the weapon, and extra features of the soldiers need to be worked on a bit. They should make it so that you can fully design a soldier that can carry any weapon irregardless of type of soldier. Kind of like a “Super Soldier.” I have focused on certain kits so that I can get further with certain weapons. I haven’t done much with the medic because assault is more my speed. Sniping isn’t my cup of tea. I am known for roaming through the hills of certain boards looking for camping snipers. I just love taking dog tags.

Several of my friends have gotten Battlefield 3, and we try to play on the same squads when possible. It is even better when I happen to be playing against them and I happen to kill them. They do get a bit annoyed with me, but that is gaming. Call the medic with the medication cart because I bring the heat when I play Battlefield 3.

Exercising And Video Games

My wife has been given the opportunity to try out quite a few exercise type video games. She has tried out Sports Active, Sports Active 2, and UFC Personal Trainer. My wife has also been asked by many people if she wants to join them at their fitness activities. She always declines because she is either too busy, or won’t do something until she has tried it to be sure that she is comfortable with it. The other day our neighbor came over to tell us that she was trying to workout zumba style on the Wii. She needed another controller, or something in order for it to work. My wife didn’t know anything about a zumba title for the Wii. Now she is anxiously awaiting our neighbor to finish up with it for a few days so that she can try it out.

Some of these titles must come out very quietly because I didn’t read anything about it.

PS3 XTendPlay Adapter

Being a video gamer I am always looking for ways to make things a bit more comfortable. Recently I was given the opportunity to test out the XTendPlay Ergonomic Adapter. If you are a gamer then you know that a controller needs to work with you without major adjustments. When I play FPS games I need my fingers to be in full synchronicity. When I play casual board games, or slow paced games I can afford to be more flexible. The XTendPlay Adapter worked for the casual games for me. I tried playing Battlefield 3 for a few rounds with the adapter, and it seemed uncomfortable because of the squareness.

Battlefield 3 Vs. Call Of Duty MW3

I have been playing Battlefield since it started on the Playstation. I also played it on the PC during the same time frame. I started playing Call of Duty long ago.

One big thing I can say about Battlefield is that it has never caused Threats, or violence in the real world. Do a Google search for things that Call of Duty has caused, and you will be surprised.

Being that the two titles are now in competition with each other here is my take on the two games.

Battlefield has evolved from a shooter into a full fledged destruction shooter. There are vehicles in all the Battlefield titles.
Call of Duty has gotten better graphics over the years, but the series lacks vehicles. There was one Call of Duty title that had tanks, and jeeps. They then went back to NONE.
Battlefield is a “SKILL” based game. You won’t be sitting on the well known spawn points as you can in Call of Duty. Check stats for yourself. Ask younger children what they play… Call of Duty or Battlefield. I almost wager that you find more children play COD. This has a lot to do with the required skill to play a large sized game like Battlefield.
Call of Duty has some really cool “Perks”, but in real life those perks could never exist.
The weapons in Battlefield are all based on actual weapons that exist. Some of the weapons in the Call of Duty series are just slightly skewed from the reality of what could be used in an actual war.
When you create a new title make sure that you make something noticeably different. Battlefield 2 – Battlefield 3 has major upgrades and enhancements. COD: Black Ops – COD: MW3 basically looks like new maps, and nothing noticeable.

You can also check out some of the video game industry comparisons that are going on. It is looking pretty glum for COD at this point. In the past COD made out pretty good. This installment from COD was lacking in my opinion.

Everyone has an opinion, and this is totally mine. If you want to evaluate the two titles before you purchase locally, or shop online for kids christmas gifts then I recommend you go to Blockbuster, Gamefly, or RedBox. Try out the game for a day before you make a decision.

I Am Upset With My Wife

When I play a video game I like to get comfortable so that I can immerse myself into the game at hand. The current game at hand is Battlefield 3. I have had a recliner in my living room for some time. The other day I came home and found my wife cleaning up and getting rid of stuff. She immediately told me that the recliner had to go. She gave me 3 days to move it to the front of the house for bulk pickup.

Why did she do this? Well, as with almost anything in the world things break. My recliner had many children on it from time to time, and also people would always sit on the arm of the recliner. It had weakened the arm so that it wouldn’t operate correctly.

Now I am trying to adjust my body to playing from a couch. I am noticing more that my body is in some serious pain after some time on the couch. I will have to find a solution to keep my gaming going, and avoid having back problems that could cause the need for back surgery.

Gifts Of The Unusual Type For The Gamer

Each year I have to give my wife a list of things that I want for Christmas. Each year this gets harder, and harder. There have been many years that I have received unusual gifts, and I am sure that they will come again. I have been doing some research into the ultimate gaming gift, and have found something that I would love to have. There are numerous Playstation 3 case mods available on the market, and I want one. The one that I want most specifically is the Battlefield 3 case mod. This would make my Battlefield 3 experience complete.

There have been numerous personally made mods, and they are very creative. I will have to do some thinking about what I can do if I don’t get a case mod. I have also seen some very nice controller mods for the PS3. It makes me wonder if my creative side is still working.

Call Of Duty MW3 Day 1 In Review

Keep in mind that this is only Day 1 First Impressions!

Today I came home from work to a pleasing surprise from Activision. As a game reviewer I am occasionally offered games at no cost as long as I am honest about my opinions on the game. Well, I opened the box and found Call of Duty: MW3 Hardened Edition.

What is the Hardened Edition…?

The Hardened Edition has a MSRP of $99.99 for the PS3, and XBox360.

Even though I frequent a few other competitors titles I have played all of the Call of Duty titles because quite a few of my friends also play Call of Duty. Throughout the years I have grown accustomed to the gameplay that I can continuously expect when playing a Call of Duty game. For these reasons alone I play this game when I want a quick fix to the “Shoot Em Up Blues” as I call them.

The single player campaign is packed with a lot of action, and gunplay. The Call of Duty game has always had smaller maps than I am used to. The matches are much quicker than I like. One of the things that I liked most in the Black Ops title was the “Training” mode. My neighbor and I would sit in this mode for hours pitting our soldiers against unreal circumstances. This mode was great for learning the maps. This edition of COD brings LAN play to the table. This would be a great mode for some, but not many of us have more than 1 or 2 game units in our homes.

Overall the game still has great graphics. The sound effects are quite well done also.

Final note…

In all respect I think that the game should have been more over the top than it appears to me at this point. There is no major addition to this title over the last title.

I will update you more in a few days after I take it through its paces a bit more.

Battlefield 3 Notes

I am now very hooked on the Battlefield 3 title. Throughout play I have come up with some comments that maybe you have insight on for me. These are comments about weapons, and maps.

The Javelin doesn’t seem to do much damage to vehicles. I can hit something several times, but the vehicle never seems to destroy.
The Stinger missles lock on, but I think that the flare capability is a bit skewed. You can’t keep shooting flares as much as these people do.
The Personell Carriers can move in extremely deep water. I am not totally sure that this is very accurate. They don’t have flexible metal hoses for deep water submerge.
I don’t see any trophies like previous titles had… Lumberjack, etc… Did they do away with these for any specific reason?
When crawling through bushes, etc. a enemy should be a bit more hidden. The “Spotting” system is just slightly off.

I love the game so far. I can’t wait until Back to Karkand comes out. This will be a pleasing addition to a already great game.

Battlefield 3 Was Calling Me

Two nights before Battlefield 3 was released I was on my home computer checking out some preview videos on YouTube. When I went to bed I left everything up on my desktop and let my screen turn off. We usually have our televisions off when we go to sleep, and we don’t have a white noise machine. Well, somewhere around 5am I was woken to “99 Problems.” I jumped out of bed thinking that the Battlefield gods were calling me.

If you aren’t a Battlefield 3 player then you won’t understand this. If you are then you have to understand that I am an avid Battlefield player, and this was just very wacky.

Playstation 3 Printing Possibilities

I have had my Playstation 3 since just a few months after it was released. I have seen an ever increasing amount of things that are coming out for the Playstation 3. One of the things that I think that they should improve on is the printer / printing capabilities that are in the unit. Currently Epson printers are one of the main printers that will work on the PS3. I know that there is no real replacement for a home computer, but Sony could be onto something if they made the PS3 handle more printers, and maybe even scanning so you can send things to your friends. I can only see an issue with scanning software.

What do you think about upgrading the printer capabilities of the PS3?

Battlefield 3: The Controller

I would love to know when they recruit for things like the Battlefield 3: The Controller. I would have done whatever it takes to get on that show. I am an avid Battlefield 3 player, and that looks like it would have been right up my alley. Can anyone point me in the direction of the where I can sign up for things like this? I don’t think my wife would complain if I could make some money playing video games… Especially Battlefield.

I wouldn’t mind checking into technical recruiter consultant jobs, either. Whatever it takes… Get me in.
