Adventure Camp at Hail Himalayas, Shogi

I recently stayed at an adventure camp Hail Himalayas. The Hail Himalayas camp site is located in Katnalu creek in the district of Shimla in Himachal Pradesh at an altitude of about 4000 feet. For reaching there the nearest train station is Kalka. To reach beyond Kalka one has to take a detour from the Chandigarh-Shimla road at Kandaghat and go towards Chail and at Sadhupul (about 12 kms from Kandaghat) leave the metallic road and take the dirt track for about 4 kms to reach this as yet mainly unexplored area.

The camp though has only tented accommodation but it is very luxurious and the tents have all amenities like a starred property. I had a comfortable double bed with good and clean sheets and quilts as well as blower. There are tea kettles with tea and coffee sachets in the tents which is a boon for heavy tea drinkers like me. The attached bath had hot and cold piped water.

The camp organizers have put in lots of effort in using local material as far as possible in making this camp. They have even created artificial water channels and mini waterfalls within the camp site. This water is sometimes diverted to the panchakki (watermill) to grind the wheat etc into flour and when not required then it forms the waterfall.

The camp has ziplining, valley crossing, and rappelling facilities and can be made a base for short moderate treks to long tough treks. As there is no other settlement nearby you do not hear any mechanical sound but only those of chirping birds and of the water gushing by in the creek flowing next to the camp site. The nights are absolutely marvelous as you do see so many stars compared to the habitations near towns and cities.

What is Serve Humanity Serve God ? Who are We ?

Serve Humanity Serve God is a team of volunteers provides help to those poor and needy patients who cannot afford to pay for their medical treatment. “We ‘adopt’ these people and help them with everything they need — be it a Dialysis, an MRI, a CT Scan, Provide free medicines, an operation, or anything else. The small team raises money by speaking to people across the city — friends, acquaintances, family, strangers – anyone who can help them with funds. It is mostly by word of mouth that donors reach to us.

We also took responsibility of children staying in the compound and take them out on vacations or weekends.

PGI Chandigarh has many poor patients coming from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Nepal. They stay at the gurdwara compound for months, and some, for years. Many such patients come along with their families, including children. About 2,500-3,000 persons including patients and their family members take food at the gurdwara community kitchen daily.

What disappointed me as a BJP supporter during Delhi election

Delhi election result has shattered so many beliefs, delusions and predictions that most of the political pundits who flaunted their social and political wisdom are reduced to excuses like “I had a feeling that AAP will win by a huge margin.” 10 February 2015 is a disaster day for BJP. The party which was capturing zones after zones in the north, south, east and west like Ashwamedha horse got slaughtered in its own citadel. Even the best political strategist, the most popular face, and the most vibrant social media hordes couldn’t save the bastion. On 2015, BJP is snubbed by the same set of people who raised it to glory a few months back.

Social and political catastrophes provide a break from routine and force organizations/individuals to contemplate about what-went-bad and what-harmed-the-most. The big victory of BJP in May 2014 raised expectations of masses on impracticable heights, therefore it was anticipated that unfilled promises will hurt them within a year. Delhi was unlucky to suffer it the most. However, 3 seats out of 70 uncover darker stories apart from failed promises or inaccurate strategies. In fact, on a failure pie-chart, the “what-harmed-the-most” segment will distinctly cover more are than “what-went-bad”.

I stood for BJP for last one year because I found myself aligned with the political, social and economic philosophies of BJP. I appreciate Arvind Kejriwal for his ostentatious victory, but I can’t appreciate his idea of freebies and communism. I wish that he improves Delhi – by reducing corruption, by introducing facilities, by providing prosperity to all, but as a believer of center-right ideologies, I am hurt and I have some serious grievances with BJP. Now onwards, for each of these, I will have put my views after calibrating BJP steps on “is-this-something-I-wanted.” Here are some of them:

Silence: When people like Sakshi Maharaj and Sadhvi Jyoti made some ridiculous statement, BJP tried to diplomatically handle it by warning them but avoided a strong message against such stupidity. It is argued that these people may be tarnishing the urban image, but they are crowd pullers at grassroots. My concern is – if these people bring victory to BJP, would I like to celebrate a victory laden by stupidities of such people? The answer is always a no.

Swaccha Bharat: Modi has responsibly taken the initiative of Swaccha Bharat. He is leaving no stones unturned to propagate it to every possible layer. However, the mudslinging and vulgar attacks – which started in 2014 and peaked during this whole campaign – were exceptionally disappointing. If BJP talks about cleaning streets, but it couldn’t control its social media team to become ambassadors of clean campaigns, I would not be excited join the bandwagon.

Desperation: The sudden entries of Kiran Bedi and Shazia Ilmi may be anticipated as masterstroke, but if on the fundamental level, it was a hollow desperate move to gain votes. Sadly, it harmed BJP and now these people will be used as scapegoats by workers/leaders who were sidelined during elections. BJP Delhi couldn’t grow a local face. Even in last elections, apart from Harshvardhan, no one had an impressive background.

Excuses: Media is targeted as one of the reasons for this loss. Seriously? The same media which went gaga over Narendra Modi becomes one of the biggest reasons. Media didn’t cover AAP and Newspapers were flooded with Narendra Modi, Kiran Bedi and Amit Shah’s advertisements. If BJP supporters, even after gaining such advantages, attack media for the image management, I can’t support a party which is so dependent on media for its victory.

Dependency: What was BJP selling in Delhi – Modi. From the first day, Kiran Bedi threw inessential praises and accolades on Modi. Election campaigns revolved around Modi, social media hypes were woven around Modi, promises were bolstered around Modi and hopes were carved around Modi. The same promotional team during political mess justifies, “What all do you want Modi to do. He is the PM.” If that is the known reality, how can I promote and consume such campaigns?

It would be too early to make a permanent opinion. I will wait for the next steps and I hope that BJP incorporates some optimistic changes. One of the simplest, but most beautiful revelations of Classical Mechanics is that Friction – which opposes the motion of an object – also helps rolling objects to move forward. I hope that BJP acknowledges friction and uses it to roll forward.

Amazing trip to Dhanaulti - Near Mussoorie

It was a detour from our usually biking and we decided to hire a cab for our outstation venture..
seems the gods of all my teammates were not on their sides.....It was a very evenful experience and an eye opener for all of us.

It was the 9:00pm of 24th April,09 and I was at our office to pick all the 6 fellows for our well planned trip to Surkanda Devi temple near Dhanaulti. Inder has come specially for this trip to Delhi. After picking all of them, we went to the nearest DHABA in Delhi. Here we took some food & after that searched for our PETROL....ooaahhaaa..

After having 4-4 Patiala, we all were fully ready for the trip at around 10:00pm, and as decided we all started the journey. That was our first stoppage of the trip to repaired the punchered tire. We all stopped here and had some tea. Two of guys went inside the hospital and did a lot of TAFRI there. Now as we all get charged with the tea & tire also got repaired, we started again towards the destination.

As we moved out of Dehradun, we all suddenly entered the land of beautiful landscapes and lush green mountains. Before we all could enter those curvy mountain roads...I myself slept...HUH !!! missed the curves..

In the meanwhile, our driver had to pay a bribe of Rs 200/- at UP-Uttranchal traffic outposts because (a) the taxi had no permit. Just after crossing the post, one of our fellow friend Mr.Jags had Ejected the contents of the stomach through the mouth..LOLZ....BOLE TO ULTTI..us sale ko mai paani dene gya aur mere stomatch mai v GUD GUD suru ho gai..shit shit shit..HA

ha ha ha ha...

So, we reached Dhanaulti around 8 in the morning and stopped at the guest room to take some rest over there. It costs us Rs 250/- only for four hours..ha ha ha ha thanx to me for bargaining with the Manager. He was asking for Rs 1000/- earlier.

Dhanaulti is 325 km from Delhi (an 8-9 hour drive) and 25 km from Mussoorie. The nearest airport is Jolly Grant, Dehradun, 82 km and the closest railhead is 66 km away, also at Dehradun. From here you can drive up to Dhanaulti, or take a tourist taxi or bus.

Dhanaulti lies on a ridge at an altitude of 2286 m. Tucked away in the midst of deep forests of deodar, oak, conifer, rhododendron and flame of the forest, Dhanaulti is a woody paradise that makes you forget where you are. Caressed by a bracing mountain zephyr, this hill station is just ideal for long walks up shady slopes or quiet tête-à-têtes in grassy meadows.

I woke up at 10 am and and discussed about the trip with Mr.Jaat. where all other were still on the bed. Be both decided to

entered into the ECO Park, which was just 100 mtrs from the hotel, and yes we really got some great shots there. After spending around 1 hour there we both decided to head back to hotel as we also had to start back. We headed back to our rooms packed our stuffs and came down for Breakfast, Mean while..other guys were packing to move towards the temple of Surkanda Devi, 10 km from Dhanaulti is perched high on a mountain and there is a 2 km uphill trek from the tiny village of Kaddu Khal to get here.

Located on the Mussoorie-Chamba track, Dhanaulti is the launching point for numerous treks into the snow-capped Himalayas, especially to the Tehri region of Garhwal. The most popular treks are through the dense alpine forests that take you to Surkanda Devi, Chandrabadni and Kunjapuri, the sacred three of the holy Devi Darshan triangle.

Longer treks from Dhanaulti take you to Deoprayag where the Bhagirathi and the Alaknanda rivers unite and the Ganga is born. Visit the villages of Kandikhal, Jamnikhal and Nekhari en route where you can spend the night at simple guesthouses. Another magnificent route is the Dhanaulti- Nagtibba trek through the Garhwal Himalayas, past the pretty village of Panthari, past some splendid scenery and interesting flora and fauna. Other exciting treks via Dhanaulti are to Kempty Falls, Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamnotri glaciers.

Amazing trip to The Kempty Falls

The Kempty Falls are a major attractions of Dehradun and Mussoorie. The falls are situated mid way between the Dehradun-Mussoorie path. Set on the hilly terrains, the Kempty falls are stunningly beautiful.

The water cascading down from an altitude of 4,500 feet and splitting further into five cascades, the water falls from a height of 40 feet giving the appearance of water jumping and playing on the rocks before falling down.

This place was developed as a tourist destination by John Mekinan, after 1835. The name Kempty is derived from 'Camp-tea', as the Britishers would organise their tea parties here.Past Kempty Fall, 12-km downhill, on crossing the Aglar River, one reaches the legendary Yamuna River.

Sri Harmandir Sahib: The Golden Temple, Amritsar, India

There is no place like Golden Temple on this planet. It is beyond any number game. Its a place where you get solution of all d problems. A place where you can feel comfortable you relaxed even more than your own home.

It is a place of both stupendous beauty and sublime peacefulness. Originally a small lake in the midst of a quiet forest, the site has been a meditation retreat for wandering mendicants and sages since deep antiquity. The Buddha is known to have spent time at this place in contemplation.Two thousand years after Buddha's time, another philosopher-saint came to live and meditate by the peaceful lake. This was Guru Nanak (1469-1539), the founder of the Sikh religion. After the passing away of Guru Nanak, his disciples continued to frequent the site; over the centuries it became the primary sacred shrine of the Sikhs. The lake was enlarged and structurally contained during the leadership of the fourth Sikh Guru (Ram Dass, 1574-1581), and during the leadership of the fifth Guru (Arjan, 1581-1606), the Hari Mandir, or Temple of God was built.

The building work completed in 1601 A.D. on Bhadoon Sudi 1st, 1661 Bikrmi Samvat (August/September,1604). Guru Arjan Sahib installed newly created Guru Granth Sahib, in Sri Harmandir Sahib and appointed Baba Budha ji as its first Granthi i.e. the reader of Guru Granth Sahib. After this event it attained the status of ‘Ath Sath Tirath’. Now the Sikh Nation had their own Tirath, a pilgrimage center

Sri Harmandir Sahib, is built on a 67ft. square platform in the centre of the Sarovar(tank). The temple itself is 40.5ft. square. It has a door each on the East, West, North and South. The Darshani Deori (an arch) stands at the shore end of the causeway. The door frame of the arch is about 10ft in height and 8ft 6inches in breath. The door panes are decorated with artistic style. It opens on to the causeway or bridge that leads to the main building of Sri Harmandir Sahib. It is 202 feet in length and 21 feet in width.

The bridge is connected with the 13 feet wide ‘Pardakshna’ (circumambulatory path). It runs round the main shrine and it leads to the ‘Har ki Paure’ (steps of God). On the first floor of ‘Har ki Paure’, there is continuous reading of Guru Granth Sahib.

The main structure of Sri Harmandir Sahib, functionally as well as technically is a three-storied one. The front, which faces the bridge, is decorated with repeated cusped arches and the roof of the first floor is at the height of the 26 feet and 9 inches.

At the top of the first floor 4 feet high parapet rises on all the sides which has also four ‘Mamtees’ on the four corners and exactly on the top of the central hall of the main sanctuary rises the third story. It is a small square room and have three gates. A regular recitation of Guru Granth Sahib is also held there.

On the top of this room stands the low fluted ‘Gumbaz’(dome) having lotus petal motif in relief at the base inverted lotus at the top which supports the ‘Kalash’ having a beautiful ‘Chhatri’ at the end.

Its architecture represents a unique harmony between the Muslims and the Hindus way of construction work and this is considered the best architectural specimens of the world. It is often quoted that this architecture has created an independent Sikh school of architecture in the history of art in India.

One of the most important festivals is Vaisakhi, which is celebrated in the second week of April (13th usually). Sikhs celebrate the founding of the Khalsa on this day and it is celebrated with fervour in the Darbar Sahib. Other important Sikh religious days such as the martyrdom day of Guru Teg Bahadur, birthday of Guru Nanak etc, are also celebrated with religious piety. Similarly Diwali is one of the festivals which sees the Darbar Sahib beautifully illuminated with Divas/Diyas (lamps),lights and fireworks are discharged. During these special wedding occasions 1-2 million pilgrims visit the Holy shrine named Darbar Sahib.

Most Sikh people visit Amritsar and the Darbar Sahib at least once during their lifetime, particularly during special occasions such as birthdays, marriage, birth of children, etc.

Delhi RedFort True Story: True History of Delhi Redfort

This tablet raised inside Delhi's Red Fort by modern archaeologists proclaims that Shahjahan (who ruled from 1628 to 1658 A.D.) built this fort from 1639 to 1648 A.D. As against this see the [next] photo of the painting of Shahjahan's time preserved in the Bodleian Library, Oxford. It depicts Shajahan receiving the Persian ambassador inside the fort in 1628, the very year of Shahjahan's accession. Obviously the fort existed much before Shahjahan.

The 5th generation Mogul emperor Shahjahan is credited with having built the Red Fort in Delhi. Shahjahan ascended the throne in 1628 A.D. This contemporary painting shows him receiving the Persian ambassador in 1628 itself, in the Diwan-i-Aam (Common Room) of the Red Fort itself. This painting preserved in the Bodleian Library, Oxford, was reproduced in the Illustrated Weekly of India (page 32) of March 14, 1971. Since Shahjahan was in the fort in the year of his accession, this documentary evidence disproves the notion that he built the fort. Compare with this the photo of the tablet in English raised inside the fort by the Govt. of India's archaeology department asserting that Shahjahan built the fort during 1639-48. This is emphatic proof of Indian history having been thoroughly falsified during Muslim rule in India.

The Red Fort in Delhi has in its Khas Mahal, alias the King's apartment, the royal emblem of its builder King Anangoal. It consists of a pair of swords laid hilt to hilt curving upwards, the sacred Hindu pot (kalash) above the hilts, a lotus bud and a pair of scales of justice balanced over it. Dotted around are representations of the sun from whom Indian ruling dynasties claimed descent. At the sword points are two small conches considered sacred in Hindu tradition. Bigger conches may be seen at the left and right corners at the base.

This royal Hindu insignia of the Hindu king who built Delhi's Red Fort, is still there in the Khas Mahal pavilion. But even this visual symbol has been blatantly misinterpreted. The two swords laid hilt to hilt, curving upward are being inadvertently styled by ignorant guides, archaeologists and historians as an Islamic crescent. The sacred Hindu Kalash (water pot) on the hilts is never noticed. The lotus bud on the kalash represents royal wealth. The pair of scales is symbolic of impartial justice.

This perforated marble screen inside the Khas Mahal (i.e. the King's own chamber) in Delhi's Red Fort, is a Hindu specialty. Such jalees are mentioned even in Ramayanic descriptions of palaces. Therefore some buildings claimed to be mosques in Ahmedabad which boast of such exquisite jalees (lattices) are Hindu edifices. The Hindu royal emblem mounted on the upper part of the jalee, disproves that the Mogul Shahjahan built the fort.
The resplendent Hindu midday sun (from whom Hindu rulers claim descent) in the arch above flanked by the sacred Hindu letter OM. Below it is the royal Hindu insignia. This proves the hollowness of the claim that Shahjahan commissioned the Red Fort.
These life size elephants flanking the Delhi Gate of Delhi's Red Fort are an unmistakable sign of the fort's Hindu origin. This is one of the proofs that the Red Fort was commissioned by Raja Anangoal (1060 A.D.) and not the Mogul emperor Shahjahan (1639-48) as is erroneously believed. [The fort predates Shahjahan by 600 years, similar to the Taj Mahal.]

A close-up of the interior top of the entrance arch of the so-called Moti Masjid (which was Hindu Moti Mandir) inside Delhi's Red Fort. The arch at the bottom may be seen to be made of banana bunches. On either side above the arch are trays holding five fruits each as holy Hindu offering. Fruit is taboo inside Muslim mosques.

In today's fragmented society, many people live alone or in very small households. This can be lonely and unsatisfying. Think out of the box & Reach out to relatives, friends, neighbors, coworkers, schoolmates, and other people around you. Can you tell how many people know you after your relatives, friends, neighbors, coworkers, schoolmates, and other people around you.

Answer is NO ONE. Its strange but its true.

It's easiest to become close to people whose lives already cross yours: neighbors, people who work at businesses you frequent, people who belong to the same church or club, etc. But friends, LIFE AS WE KNOW IT, Can take U turn any time and you never know where it goes.

Have you ever imagine the situation that suddenly you come across with the boy or gal, with whom you had spent 3-4 years in college & after leaving the college you never tried to call even a single time, because you thought, WHO CARES. I have my own life now I am with new friends. But have you ever think what about your old friends. To make friends is not a big deal. Main problem is, how you maintain the friendship.

Most of the true family you have has no blood relation. Family extends beyond genetics!

Why I am writing all this is because I found most of the college friends [taking example of mine own college] are even don't want to see each other faces. Few of mine college mates tie the knot, but not even invited anyone from college. Few of mates were very good friend at that time, but in current scenario, they even don't want to see each other faces. My question is WHY ???

I was very unhappy & ungratified...no need to explain why....& I think out of the box. Suddenly an idea came to my mind & I start blogging on internet. I share what I feel, & posted my real life experience. Posted all the details, where ever I go & one day a huge group was formed & known as Venturous Bikers. it’s another morning..

….. Again I have to go to office

Ohh, this is me… I shouted having a glance on my snap in today’s news paper.

But what the HELL it is doing in the death column??

Strange…

One sec... Let me think, last night when I was going to bed I had a severe pain in my chest, but I don’t remember anything after that, I think I had a sound sleep.

Its morning now, ohh….. It’s already 10:00 AM, where is my coffee?

I will be late for office and my boss will get a chance to irritate me.

Where is everyone…??? I screamed.

“I think there is a crowed outside my room, let me check.” I said to myself.

So many people….. Not all of them crying…

But why some of them crying…

WHAT IS THIS??? I m laying there on the floor…

“I AM HERE” … I shouted!!! No one listen.

“LOOK I AM NOT DEAD” … I screamed once again!!! No one is interested in me.

They all were looking me on the bed.

I went back to my bed room.

“Am I dead??” I asked myself.

Where is my wife, my children, my mom-DAD, my friends?

I found them in the next room, all of them were crying… still trying to console each other.

My wife was crying… she was really looking sad.

My little kid was not sure what happened, but he was crying just coz his mom was sad.

How can I go without saying my kid that I really love him, I really do care of him. ??

How can I go without saying my wife that she is really most beautiful and most caring wife in this world..??

How can I go without saying my parents that I m … just because of u ??

Ohh… he was my best neighbour but a small misunderstanding made us part, and we both have strong enough ego to keep us disconnect.

I went there.. And offered him my hand, “Dear friend… I just want to say sorry for everything, we r still best friend, please forgive me.”

No response from other side, what the hell?? He is still preserving his ego, I am saying sorry… even then!!!

I really don’t care for such people.

But one sec…. it seems he is not able to see me!!!! He did not see my extended hand.

My goodness… AM I REALLY DEAD???

I just sat down near ME; I was also feeling like crying…

“OHH ALMIGHTY!!!! PLEASE JUST GIVE ME FEW MORE DAYS…”

I just wasn’t to make my wife, my parents; my friends realize that how much I love them.

My wife entered in the room, she looks beautiful.

“YOU R BEAUTIFUL” I shouted.

She didn’t hear my words, in fact she never heard these words coz I never said this to her.

“GOD!!!!” I screamed… a little more time plzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..

I cried…

One more chance please… to hug my child, to make my mom smile just once, to feel my dad proud on me at least for a moment, to say sorry to my friends for everything I have not given to them, and thanks for still being in my life….

Then I looked up and cried!!!!

I shouted….

“GOD!!!! ONE MORE CHANCE PLEASE!!!!”

"You shouted in your sleep," said my wife as she gently woke me up. "Did you have a nightmare?"

I was sleeping….

Ohh that was just a dream….

My wife was there… she can hear me…

This is the happiest moment of my life…

I hugged her and whispered…. “U R THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND CARING WIFE IN THIS UNIVERSE…. I REALLY LOVE U DEAR”

I can’t understand the reason of the smile on her face with some tears in her eyes, still I m happy…. :)

Trip to Flying Fox at Neemrana Fort Palace (Rajasthan, India)

Hi Friends, Kya baat hai..bahut din ho gai hum log kahi chull kerne nahi gai yaar. Getting bored naa..

So, Live like a king, or at least a minor courtier.......Ha ha ha

Lets plan this week end i.e. on 19th July for Neemrana Fort - A Majestic Experience Only 100 kms Away From IGI Airport. This is the place where we do al lot of CHULL to go. Neemrana is an ancient 14th century fort that has been converted into a hotel of sorts.

The below info I have found regarding this fort. It is always better to get some info before planning to any trip...Lets have a look:

The first thing that strikes you as you drive up the curved rampart driveway is how unlike a hotel this place really looks. Therein lies the charm. It is not a hotel in the conventional sense, but rather a place to relax, retreat, and literally get away from it all. (The entire place has only one tv, a phone only at reception, and does not recieve the newspaper).

Another charming feature of this remarkable place is that all of the rooms are different. Most of the rooms are not original, because the majority of the hotel was rebuilt, but all of the rooms have been decorated with care & each room a unique appeal. If you can, try and get into as many rooms as you can just to see what they are like. Most of the rooms are fairly small, featuring a small ante-room of sorts.

There's also a pool that's on a plateau. Apart from Swimming pool and Jacuzzi, there is an exclusive health spa offering Ayuervedic rejuvenation and other Holistic treatment after Consultancy with a Doctor. Plus, free yoga and meditation exercises are also available. It is a worthwhile experience. The fort also has an Indian and a French restaurant which are supposed to be quite good. My friends, if ever you are in Delhi, and you want to get away from the noise, the work, the pollution, the crowds, you should go to Neemrana. It's a place for romantics and dreamers. The apple has fallen far from the tree. The young man who carries the name of a great leader who always fought for minority equality, even in the face of the nations’ partition, has resorted to vilifying and spreading hate against the same minority. Mr. Varun Gandhi, who got his last name from Mahatma Gandhi, destroyed everything that the Mahatma lived and died for in his desperate and hate fueled attempt at political success. And while, he has been (lightly) reprimanded, what’s scarier than his stupid vow on the Geeta that he will “cut the hands of Muslims”, is the support he’s getting from certain political sections as well as the common man in an SMS campaign. These are the leaders and the voters of the country. And now the underworld has threatened to kill Varun Gandhi. This is being seen as a ‘Muslim retaliation’, and the stage is set for another major communal riot. And I bet Varun Gandhi and others like him will get their political mileage out of all this. Way to go, India!

I want to make one thing clear. If you are of the opinion that I’m in favor of any community or anti another community, you’re missing the point. I’m against the very concept of defining any community based on religion, state, race, caste, language, or even sex. But even this is besides the point. I’m writing this blog to collect like-minded youngsters who believe that things need to change and they will not change on their own. There’s a reason I said ‘youngsters’. It’s because I’m not interested in grown-ups. I blame our previous generation of getting us into this shit in the first place. They’ve had their chance, and they BLEW IT!!! Bigtime!

In our childhood, all of us are taught in school - ‘All religions are equal”. “There is only 1 god” and “Indian values are based on tolerance towards others”. When we come out into the world, our behavior and attitude is exactly the opposite. It reeks of the same prejudices and bigotry that our previous generation stinks of. Why’s that? It’s because the basis of our value systems are our homes. And even though our textbooks say different, our young minds are conditioned at home to reflect the same crap that our previous generation inherited from the generation above them. Let’s face it... We do NOT believe that all religions are equal. We are NOT tolerant towards other communities. We live in an atmosphere filled with hatred, fear and violence. Who is responsible for this? How is this going to change? This blog might not be the answer, but at least it asks some pertinent questions. It’s a beginning. Nothing will change if we do not question what exists. And in this blog, I’m questioning another ‘value’ that has been taught to us from childhood - “Respect your elders”.

I know this sounds a bit radical, but think about it. What have they done to earn our respect? Should we respect them for the 1984 riots against the Sikhs? Or the demolition of the Babri Mazjid, which lead to the serial blasts in Mumbai? Should we respect them for the Hindu Muslim riots in Mumbai? Or in Godhra? Should we follow their example of protecting our culture by beating women on camera and arresting young couples for ‘Obscenity’, when all they’re doing is sit together on the side of a road? If you step away from the filth of urban India and into the rural, or ‘real’ India, grown-ups burn, rape and kill youngsters for marrying a person from another caste, community or religion. Women are paraded naked as a punishment for breaking the ‘rules of society’. Dowry is still taken. Dowry deaths are common. Female infanticide is a reality. These and other even more heinous crimes are committed and witnessed silently by elders in the name of Indian Culture and family honor.

I’ll make one more clarification. I’m not preaching hatred against the elderly. Neither am I absolving the youth of their part in the way this country is turning out. This is what I’m saying - it’s time we started questioning whatever is fed to us by the older generation. It’s time to discard societal conditioning and start thinking for ourselves. It’s time to realize that the older generation has made the changes that they wanted. And to let them know that they screwed up. It is time to stop looking at them to change, and start making the change ourselves. We are the worlds’ youngest country and the biggest democracy. This means that the Indian youth is the most empowered community in the world. But without a questioning attitude and a proactive approach, all this means nothing.

Pick up any cause that you believe in. Be it women’s issues, govt. policies, taxes, education, crime, corruption... Whatever! Pick a side. Don’t straddle the fence. And then step out and make a difference. Protest. Debate. Discuss. Demonstrate. Be heard. Be counted.

One more thing. Send one message across loud and clear. We will reject anyone who creates an atmosphere of hate and provokes one section of our country against any other. Be it against Muslims, women, North Indians, or any other part of society. We’re all Indians. We reject your hate and prejudice. We want our next generation to grow in a safe environment, where the focus is on progress through excellence and not on the intimidation of the common man. And so, any Varun Gandhi who chooses the politics of hate and division will never ever come into power. Vote as one for the politician who talks about his plan for development. Vote as one for the politician who has fulfilled his promises. Hold the politicians who have not fulfilled their promises accountable.

It is time to question. Time to send a clear message to the older generation. It is time to make the change. It is time for the apple to fall far from the tree.

Mafia Wars is one of the most popular and addicting games on Facebook. In March, Mafia Wars reintroduced the ability to rob other players' properties. The new robbing system contains many features that weren't part of the original, and offers many new rewards.

What's New

The new Mafia Wars robbing system works much differently than the old one. The new system consists of a three-by-three grid of random properties, each of which is assigned a relative difficulty. The three difficulties that can be assigned are "easy," "medium," and "hard."

In addition, each different type of property costs a different amount of stamina to rob and has limitations on the number of mafia members you can use to attack it. A restaurant, for example, uses 7 stamina to rob and uses the top 35 members of your mafia to determine your attack score, whereas a Mega Casino uses 20 stamina and 500 members. Conversely, this is also the maximum number of mafia members that your opponent can use to defend their property.

It's generally a bad idea to attack a property that uses more mafia members than you have unless it's labeled as "easy." Going up against a Mega Casino when you only have 100 members in your own mafia will more often than not lead to failure.

Robbing Experience and Mastery

Every time you successfully rob a property, you not only gain experience for your character, you also increase your robbing mastery level. Each level of mastery increases the amount of experience you gain from successfully robbing other properties. There are currently ten levels of robbing mastery, although higher levels require you to successfully complete hundreds and even thousands of robberies in order to advance to the next level.

Clear the Board Bonus

One of the unique aspects of the new Mafia Wars robbing system is that, if you clear a board of nine robberies, you get a bonus. This bonus generally consists of a random item, which can be any item type, and a little bit of extra experience. The amount of experience gained from clearing a board is based on the number of successful robberies you completed in that particular set.

Refreshing the Board

ne way to maximize the amount you get out of robbing on Mafia Wars is to use a little bit of stamina to refresh the board when you're losing. The amount of stamina needed to refresh the board is 9 minus the number of robberies attempted. For example, if you've attempted five robberies on the current board, it would cost 4 stamina to refresh the robbing board.

This can be used to your advantage if you're failing a lot of robberies. Since you won't receive bonus experience from failed robberies, it's sometimes better to use a couple stamina points to refresh the robbing board than to complete the board and receive a very small bonus. This is most useful when you've struggled on a particular set of properties and the only ones left require more than 10 stamina points to rob (the Mega Casinos, for example).

Tools of the Trade and Stolen Diamonds Collections

Mafia Wars robbing also has two new collections which are very helpful to complete. The Tools of the Trade collection items drop fairly frequently, and the collection bonus gives you more money and item drops when you rob. The Stolen Diamonds collection, on the other hand, has an extremely low drop rate, but increases your chance of getting successful robberies. Each robbing collection will also give you an extra skill point when you successfully vault them.

Patience Is a Virtue in Mafia Wars

The best thing to remember when wading through the new Mafia Wars robbing system is to be patient. It will take a long time to reach level 10 mastery and complete the Stolen Diamonds collection (I've completed almost a thousand robberies and only received one of the seven diamonds). If you know someone else who plays Mafia Wars extensively, you can ask them for help in completing the collections. Also remember that the more you rob, the bigger the rewards. It may seem daunting at first, but once you get the hang of it, Mafia Wars robbing offers another way to keep the gaming experience fresh and exciting.

The Mystery Vault is new to Mafia Wars. It is a randomly appearing pop up that players are seeing from time to time that gives them the opportunity to find some limited loot, Reward Points or experience points.

To make use of the Mystery Vault you must click on “Email Me The Code!” You will have to give Zynga your email address of course.

After you have provided your email you will get a new email message from Mafia Wars or Zynga with a link in it that you will have to click. When you click the link you will be returned to your Mafia Wars page where you will be presented with a new message, which you must click in order to open the vault.

You can find random limited loot items, 1000 Reward Points, or 250 XP. To be totally honest you are most likely to find the experience points since giving away 1000 reward points would be counter productive to a game with the sale of reward points as its revenue model.

Getting a little tired of simply gunning down your enemies in Mafia Wars?

You're in luck. Beginning next week, you'll have a literal menagerie of new weapons. Namely, the animal kingdom.

Mafia Wars, a Facebook game by Zynga with over 25 million current players, posted news on their blog stating, "Animals are soon going to be a separate category of items that will be used in fighting and robbing." That means, besides Weapon, Armor, and Vehicle, each mobster will now be an Animal category.

According to the game's Facebook fan page, lions, tigers, and pit bulls are just a few of the animals you'll be able to buy and use. Players will be able to acquire animals in two ways. This week only, Mafia Wars is hosting an 'Animals Gone Wild' event where players can loot animals from jobs, fighting and robbing. Just keep in mind that any animals found during 'Animals Gone Wild' won't be weaponized until next week. If you're looking for one animal in particular, you can also purchase it at the Marketplace.
