When I got a chance to photograph one of the stars, Mary, this was the first shot I snapped off just as a gust of wind picked up and blew her hair perfectly. Unfortunately it also dumped some sand right in her eyes and she couldn’t quite compose herself for any of the following shots.

I thought it was pretty neat to shoot the national team in a World Cup match. For real. Here are a few I liked.

Sarah and James put in the grunt work all week, then, when I found myself working on my day off, I took all the glory with the finals.

Was a little rusty and couldn’t keep track of all the competitors trying to scribble notes until I saw Scott and Rick shooting the new jumbotron displaying names. Duh.

Utah high school rodeo finals started Tuesday in Heber City. Bull riding is sure fun to watch, and photograph, but seriously, what inspires a kid to want to get on top of one of those 2,000+ pound beasts? If an animal doesn’t want me on its back, then I definitely wont get on it.

Like the way my football helmet provided me a imaginary power, my camera now is that force. I love the fact that it’s my way of document the greatest times of my life, my marriage, my kids birthdays, their first home run … Photography is my way to escape the mundane day to day life and provides me with peace and solitude.
I was asked by someone close to me if I would take some pictures of their new born baby soon after delivery because there was a high possibility that the baby would need a serious heart surgery. Without hesitation or thinking twice I said absolutely and was humbled to be asked to capture such a special day for the parents.
I got the call Monday to head up to the hospital and to get ready to take my photos. I thought I was prepared, my gear was ready, camera setting were checked, however as I started to walk down the dark, stale labyrinth I found myself fighting back tears. I started to wonder how I would respond if I was in their place. I guess you just hope that the medical staff is as good as others say, pray, and hope. The baby is still fighting and his parents are still praying and hopefully that never stops.
Maybe if you find yourself thinking about it too, you might think about the children who  are not home with their family and hope for them to make it another day, week, month, year. I go day to day being consumed by the daily rat race of the world and lose perspective of what really bring me joy, My family.
