Photographers around the world are exploring their urban environment nowadays, what makes it difficult to identify the great ones. This special features some of the best urbex photographers.

This post was written by Brenna Urban on Urban Art Core.

Urban exploring becomes more and more popular for young people from the cities around the world, who want to discover hidden places, explore abandoned houses, and climb on the highest buildings in town. Documenting their achievements with often amazing photographs, the urban explorers built up distributed communities (and published urbex guides) in the web for the last years, for what reason even more boys and girls (including me) were influenced to join this movement and to push urbex photography.

Due to this fact, the count of stunning urbex photos is steadily growing what makes it difficult for interested parties to find the really great photos and to get in touch with the urban exploration protagonists. That’s why I came up with the idea to create a list of photographers, who inspired me to crawl through tunnels and to explore decaying buildings…

The result is this nice Urban Exploration Photography special, including 11 great urbex photographers who are definitely worth to check out. Have fun and let me know what you think about their shots!

Fantastic impressions from the Leeside skateboard fireworks mayhem during Halloween 2011 in Vancouver, BC including several scary guys and also Zaphod Beeblebrox!

That’s what I call a great skateboard event: In Vancouver, BC a few hundred people partied Halloween with an extraordinary skateboard fireworks jam in an abandoned skate-park tunnel! This event attracted that much attention throughout the entire galaxy that in addition to Harold Green, Vampires Dream, Banana, Lemmy, the She Wolfs, Manwolf, Ladyman, Scarecrow, Werewolf, Long Underwear Man, Clumsy Lumberjack and Dirty Hippy even Mr. Zaphod Beeblebrox himself came back to earth for a short skate-session!

When people ask me what Vancouver is like, this is the video I’ll show them. Watch the video in all its glory below. (Jeff, booooooom.com)

But it’s not just the great event, but also the amazing location which made me love to go to Vancouver. Hopefully they are all fine after that action-loaded event including brutal crashes, exploding fireworks and massive skateboard stunts!

Famous German writer MadC just opened her recent solo graffiti show Between the lines at LaGrille Gallery in Switzerland and of course several people took loads of photos of her latest artworks, including in addition to brilliant canvas works, also a hand-printed, limited edition of a four colors, signed and numbered silkscreen print.

Back in 2011, German urban artist Clemens Behr caught up with French painter Romain Froquet in Paris to create a phenomenal collaboration installation – and when I say phenomenal, I mean it!

Bringing together Clemens’ abstract, somehow digital-looking three-dimensional installations and Romain’s complex styled, abstract paintings, both artists created different, sometimes floating artworks in an old fabric using nothing more than cardboard, wood, yarn and paint…

It’s great to see how the two different techniques work out together – thumbs up guys!

Shooting a Lego graffiti stop-motion video is quite a lot work, I’m pretty sure. This video shows a Lego guy painting a train panel in the yard during night-time...

Using Lego for stop motion productions is quite popular for some years now, for what reason I wasn’t surprised when I discovered this short Lego graffiti film. And although it’s not the best footage neither a really mind-blowing piece, I can’t imagine how long it took to put this together. Furthermore I loved the idea and hope that someone tries to make a better one after watching this video…

As long as we are waiting for another Lego graffiti stop motion video, take a look at the graffiti street animation Tumblingerstraße! It’s not Lego, but worth to watch anyway.

And now, bring back your Lego out of the dark corners of your deep wardrobe, grab your camera, shoot your stop-motion and send me a link! Peace.

What happens if it’s cold and freezing in mid-Europe? Right, all the creative heads escape and seek refuge in sunnier climes! Famous Da Mental Vaporz (DMV) crew for example is heading to Melbourne…

The prolific French graffiti crew Da Mental Vaporz is leaving France with its artic weather conditions and presidential elections delirium to enjoy sunny horizons down under. Armed with spraycans, the DMV crew consisting of Bom-K, Blo, Brusk, Dran, Gris1, ISO, Jaw, Kan, and Sowat are boarding the Australian continent with their individual style, from old school lettering to calligraffiti and figurative painting with a touch of dark humour. With monumental murals and exhibitions across Europe, Latin America, New York, Moscow or Hong-Kong, the Da Mental Vaporz crew members are both known collectively and individually. (via rtistgallery.com.au)

The exhibition opens February 16th and runs until March 4th, what means, that DMV will have enough time to show our Aussie fiends what extravagant European graffiti style is all about! I’m pretty sure they will rock Melbourne and the surrounding areas – I mean, watch this dope opening teaser and you know that they are keen to hit that city…
