Do you know French urban artist Ox? For years, he redesigns billboards in Europe and creates in that way new street artworks on former advertising spaces...

Some days ago, I received an e-mail from French urban artist and adbuster Ox and I have to say, that I didn’t know him before, but really like his nice artworks! For years, Ox pastes great collages or minimalist shapes over billboards and in that way creates new, often colorful statements.

His billboard takeovers – he calls it “Affichages” – could be found all over France and in other European cities like London. To cut a long story short and to show you his great doings, here are some photos…

…for more info about Ox’s urban art, visit ox.com.fr.

Recently Berlin based street artist Nomad updated his photo-blog, including some new and interesting shots of his “Land Art” project. Take a look!

Right after Ron English’s cover for the “Color Ink Book” reminded me of Nomad’s “Rainbowcoloured Tears of a Clown” art exhibition, I found out that Nomad updated his picture-blog!

As an original street artist, Nomad developed his expressional variants conceptually and technically through interactive projects in interior and exterior spaces: combining writing and street art with poetry and classical painting.

His recent project was the so called “Land Art” project, where Nomad transfers the ideas and intentions of street art into the wild nature…

There are a lot of good art magazines around the globe, but i really like the “Color Ink Book”, which was published in its sixth edition a month ago...

The “Color Ink Book – The DIY Art Periodical” is – as I think – a very interesting piece of art magazines, because it showcases both, established artists as well as fresh faces.

For four weeks, the sixth edition of the “Color Ink Book” is available, which includes artworks by and info about Project Detonate, El Gato Chimney, Andrew Council, Ron English, Vassilis Gogtzilas, Chuck Harrison, Jeff Lamm, Pat Moriarity, Kool Skull, McFaul Studio, Jon Vermilyea and Ben Walker.

“The volumes are printed on 60 lb Endurance Vellum Offset Book paper, to offer the reader the option to color the work showcased within: thus bringing the art enthusiasts and artist together.”

The reason for that article was that I wanted to show you the great cover of the recent issue, whih was done by Ron English. It reminded my of the “Rainbowcoloured Tears of a Clown” art exhibition by Nomad in Berlin…

For more info about the “Color Ink Book” visit the corresponding website!

Although there are available a lot of interesting illustrated and photobooks about Berlin, this one is really special. It shows nice and unconventional urban impressions from the streets of Berlin!

“Pieces of Berlin” is the name of a nice photobook about Berlin. On 90 pages, the book shows with 30 color photos some unconventional views of Berlin, the city of abandoned houses and street art, and therefore the real beauty and variety.

The book is composed of analog street photographs by Florian Reischauer and texts by Isobel Coquille and – because of the great success – actually available in its second edition.

It’s possible to buy your issue in selected stores in Berlin, New York and Cologne – For more detailed info about where to buy, visit flowkey.net/pob.

My first impression was really favorable. Maybe I will buy it anytime soon.

And the Oscar goes to...D*Face and his stunning “Zombie Oscars”! The famous British street artist visited Los Angeles and installed two skeleton-like Oscar sculptures...

Yesterday, the Oscars prize giving ceremony took place in Los Angeles and yes, I was not surprised that Christoph Waltz got his Oscar for his “Inglourious Basterds” Nazi-part, because in conclusion he’s an Austrian…

However, also British street artist D*Face visited LA. During the last days, he installed two skeleton-like Oscar sculptures, each about two meters high and now referred as “Zombie Oscars”.

As you maybe know, D*Face loves skulls and skeletons – What’s the intention behind that interesting installations, D*Face told NBC Los Angeles:

“The Oscar ceremony represent the pinnacle of superficiality within the so-called “film industry,” where formula and money triumphs over independent creativity and risk. These sculptures are donated to all the actors, actresses and filmmakers of the City of Lost Angels whose talents will never see the light of day.

Never give up the struggle, believe in your dreams, try and break the system and remember if all else fails, resort to plastic surgery – it seems to work!?!” (D*Face)

For more about D*Face, visit dface.co.uk.

It includes all legal graffiti walls, interesting streetart areas, skatespots, and other places, which are interesting for an alternative urban art tour through Vienna.
