The Rush of Ikorr TCG Championship Tournament will take place at Gen Con in Indianapolis from July 30 to August 2, 2026. To register, players must purchase both a Gen Con badge and a tournament event ticket through Gen Con’s website. Gen Con attendee badges are available for purchase now at gencon.com. Event tickets for the tournament are priced at $80 and will be available for purchase on gencon.com starting at 12 PM EST on May 17. These tickets can only be purchased by those with a Gen Con badge. 

The tournament will feature a 3 vs. 3 format, with players required to register as a complete team of three. The playable card pool will feature Rush of Ikorr Act 1, which includes Shattered Chaos, Merciless Battlegrounds, and the upcoming Luminary Strike. The $100K+ cash prize pool breakdown is as follows: 

• First Place – $30,000 ($10,000 per player) 

• Second Place – $21,000 ($7,000 per player) 

• Third and Fourth Place – $12,000 per team in each place ($4,000 per player) 

• Fifth through Eighth Place – $6,300 per team in each place ($2,100 per player) 

Upper Deck also unveiled additional organized tournaments that will take place throughout the year, starting in March and running through the end of 2026. These events will offer participation prizes such as a Rush of Ikorr promo pack and themed playmat, as well as cash prizes with an average of $5,000 per tournament. Currently, 13 events are planned in collaboration with Star City Games (SCG) CON, Pro-Play Games (PPG) Summit, and LVLUP Expo: 

More events will be added to the schedule throughout the year in collaboration with Upper Deck’s Certified Diamond Dealer (“CDD”) game shops. Players can visit their local shop to find more information.

At its simplest, a token is merely an item that represents something the game prescribes. In fact, you’ve probably already utilized this concept without even knowing it! For example, when champions in Rush of Ikorr are attacked, their health is reduced by the attack stat of the attacking champion. However, since we can’t literally change the number that is printed on the card, players may use dice or cardboard damage counters. These items are tokens that represent damage! In Luminary Strike, we take this idea one step further with the addition of champion tokens!

Anatomy of a Champion Token

Let’s take a look at some examples of champion tokens that you might find in Luminary Strike.

Let’s say hello to the Pus Demon! He probably looks a lot like the champions you are used to seeing. You can see his card type: token champion, loyalty: Maya, and trait: Demon. His attack: 2, health: 2, and raid: 1 are all listed at the bottom of the card. He even has a keyword: Swift. You can see that different champion tokens have different stats, abilities, and types. But there’s one key difference from normal champions: They have no influence cost listed. This is because champion tokens are not included in your deck.

But if you can’t put them in your deck and pay influence for them directly, then how do they get on the battlefield? You’re probably wondering…

Where do Champion Tokens Come From?

As tokens are merely a representation of what the game prescribes, champion tokens are not included in your 40-card deck. Rather, a player may include cards in their deck that create champion tokens during the course of play. Let’s take a look at an example of one such card.

Ahalpuh, The Sinswell reads “DEATH — Summon two 2/2/1 aspectless Demon champion tokens with Swift named “Pus Demon”.

So, when your Ahalpuh, The Sinswell dies, you would put it into your graveyard and resolve its effect, putting two “Pus Demon” champion tokens with 2 attack, 2 health, 1 raid, and Swift onto the battlefield. Just as you have dice or damage counters waiting off to the side, ready for when you need them, you can now have a stack of champion tokens also ready to go! Just grab them and put them onto the battlefield whenever a card tells you to do so!

Where Can I Collect These Tokens?

Champion tokens can be found randomly inserted into Luminary Strike booster packs, replacing the influence card you would normally get from the pack. These tokens are great because they have standardized art and all the correct stats printed on the card. This helps to minimize confusion between players and keep track of the board state.

What if I Don’t Have Them?

Didn’t open any of the tokens you need? Not to worry! The good news is, anything can be a token, as long as you communicate to all players what your item of choice represents. You could use coins as tokens. You could use dice as tokens. You could use meatballs as tokens! (Ew.) You could even draw your very own! If you do, tag us at “@upperdeckent”! We would love to see what you came up with!

Rulings on Champion Tokens

Champion tokens do count towards your 6 champion limit total on the battlefield. If you create one or more token champions when all six champion slots are occupied, no champion tokens will be created.

If an effect would have you create more champion tokens than you have available champion slots on the battlefield, instead create as many champion tokens as you have space for. For example, if an effect would have you create four champion tokens, but you only have 2 champions slots available on your battlefield, instead create 2 champion tokens.

Champion tokens can be killed, retreated, or shuffled back into the deck. However, champion tokens cannot exist in a player’s graveyard, hand, or deck. Therefore, as soon as they are placed in one of these zones, they are removed from the game instead. Effects that trigger on champion death, retreat, or being put into the deck will still trigger as normal, but champion tokens can only exist on the battlefield.

A champion token’s influence cost is always treated as 0 (zero).

Core Set Masterminds are now double-sided with normal and extra-challenging sides. For those who find the standard villains too easy, Second Edition introduces Epic Masterminds. Core Set Masterminds are now significantly more challenging than the First Edition. These updated Masterminds have additional abilities to make each Mastermind more flavorful and dangerous than ever before. Additionally, the original 8 Schemes have been rebalanced to be more challenging along with an additional all-new 9th Scheme.

In Legendary®: Second Edition, 4-5 player games will now use a “Warmup Round” to reduce the likelihood of early Villain escapes. Additionally, there is now a “Starting HQ Mulligan” if at least 2 cards in the starting HQ cost 7 or more, then all players can agree to “mulligan” those HQ spaces. There are updated quantities of card stacks to use for each number of players, to give games with a larger number of players more time to win. For fans of Solo Mode, Second Edition no longer plays an extra card from the Villain Deck after each Master Strike. In solo, 2 Henchmen start the game already in the city. The solo mode Villain Deck now gives about 4 extra turns before running out.

To mark the 25th Anniversary of Upper Deck Golf, this year’s set pays homage to its very first release in 2001, which featured a star-studded checklist headlined by Upper Deck Exclusive Spokesperson Tiger Woods and his rookie card. 2026 Upper Deck Golf will again be headlined by Spokesperson Tiger Woods, with a unique buyback program. There will be 25 Tiger Woods rookie cards that are signed, numbered, and stamped with a commemorative 25th Anniversary stamp. There will also be 25 sets each of the ‘Tiger’s Tales’ insert and the entire 200-card base set that are numbered to 25 and stamped with the 25th Anniversary stamp.

“We’re always working to create fresh, exciting, and premium collecting experiences. The introduction of our Debut Game Jersey Program will allow collectors to connect even further with their favorite players and teams – all in an incredibly approachable and accessible way,” said Jason Masherah, President of Upper Deck. “With an exceptional NHL rookie class coming in this season, not only will we capture theirs and future classes’ debut moments on the ice for fans and collectors to hold onto for years to come, but we will take their entire debut jerseys and insert them across several distinct trading card designs.”

Upper Deck has collected game-worn jerseys from the debuts of some of the NHL’s best prospects, including exclusive athletes Matthew Schaefer and Michael Misa, as well as stand-outs Beckett Sennecke, Brady Martin, Isaac Howard, and Easton Cowan, among others. The cards will be included as part of 2025-26 Upper Deck Extended Series, scheduled to release this summer. Each Upper Deck Debut Game Jersey trading card will feature a photo-matched image of the player from their first professional game on the ice, as well as a piece of the jersey they wore during that game. Upper Deck will offer a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) for each of these cards, matching the exact date of the debut game. Additionally, three card variations will be available to collect, including Debut Game Jersey Autographs (serial #’d to their jersey number) and special Debut Game Jersey Auto Black Variations (serial #’d 1-of-1) containing unique patch or fight strap tags from the debut jersey.

Long-time Upper Deck collectors and hockey fans will recognize the design of these trading cards, as the company pays homage to its first-ever “UD Game Jersey” trading cards. The first cards to feature game worn jerseys debuted in Upper Deck’s 1996 Hockey and Football sets, and later in 1997 Basketball and Baseball. UD Game Jersey cards quickly became the most chased at the time and are now iconic in the hobby.

Fans and collectors can keep an eye out for the 2025-26 Upper Deck Hockey Extended Series, which will be released this summer at Certified Diamond dealers worldwide as well as mass retailers. For more information, please visit UpperDeck.com.
