&lt;p&gt;Chief Thokozile was born and raised in Ofafa and did her schooling in Empageni, she married Chief Ndlovu at a young age. Not being able to have children of her own, her husband did seek another woman and had a son. He was killed in the 1991 violence and being their tradition, she had to take over the responsibility of looking after and raising his illegitimate son who is to become chief when he turns 25. Until then, she was selected as Chief by her community and took over full responsibilities from 1994.&lt;/p&gt;</content>

&lt;p&gt;Mama Sipiwe Solomons of Shabalala in Hazyview a nurse and midwife, saw the overwhelming need for feeding and caring for the many vulnerable children in her area. She provides a feeding scheme for orphans, hospice, and home base care to 139 children aged between 8 and 14. She also provides for the unemployed adults, skills training such as gardening and sewing as well adult literacy. She started Hosanna Community Church and Projects in 2008 with the help and support of her husband Solly. Mama Sipiwe’s mission is to cultivate a HIV/Aids free community by providing a good quality health care service to the poor and needy of the grater Hazyview area.&lt;/p&gt;</content>

&lt;p&gt;Ebenezer means “rock of hope” the woman behind the centre is Mama Shirley Merime. The centre cares for 66 children and 77 senior citizens and has been running for more than 13 years. Mama Shirley is affectionately known as ‘Mother Teresa’ by the residents as she truly believes that the needs of others are more important than her own.&lt;/p&gt;</content>

&lt;p&gt;Mama Selestien Moses together with dedicated caregivers collectively cares for more than 300 children and 83 elderly on a daily basis in the Ashbury, Montagu region situated in the Western Cape. She currently shares her house with 18-orphaned children. Mama Noxolo's attitude is to get the job done, she is respected by her fellow caregivers and has a passion to care for the children. &lt;p&gt;Mama Mary Lwate, founder of the Good Hope Community Organisation is our newest member to join the sisterhood. Mama Mary is situated in Winterveld, Mabopane and is an inspirational woman. She started the Good Hope Community Organisation in 1997 to care for abandoned and abused children. Her extended family has grown from 18 girls to over 150 children aged new born to 20 years. The crèche alone has 44 children and hese children are cared for on a full time basis. In addition to caring for the children, Mama Mary ensures that they attend school and teaches them skills such as baking, dressmaking and knitting. The centre also has a beadwork project that produces decorative items and jewellery.&lt;/p&gt;</content>

&lt;p&gt;Mama Nomaqumru Lumka of Ikhayalethemba Village and Nceduluntu Educare Centre in Somerset West is well known as Mama Lumka and is our latest Mama to join the sisterhood. Mama Lumka is an exceptional woman who, despite her lowly beginnings and lack of education, has achieved in 10 years what most people of privileged backgrounds are unable to do in a lifetime. &lt;p&gt;Mama Glenrose Mashiqa cares for more than 65 children on a daily basis. Situated in Mdantsane in East London which is Africa’s second largest township, Mama Glenrose saw a great need for children to be cared for whilst their parents are at work or looking for employment. She charges a minimum fee per month per child but has never turned away a parent who cannot afford the fee.&lt;/p&gt;</content>

&lt;p&gt;Mama Gladys Siyothula has had a passion for children her whole life. Even as a little girl she would be helping out wherever she could. Mama Gladys studied childcare and worked in various projects until she started her own Ethembeni Drop-In Centre in 2008. Today she attends to well over 340 children on a daily basis with the assistance of 34 caregivers. About 30% of the children in her care are HIV/Aids affected and she sees to their daily medical needs. She not only provides meals for all these children but she also assists with getting their paper work in order with home affairs.&lt;/p&gt;</content>

The centre looks after more than 1510 orphaned, abused and HIV/Aids affected children and 516 elderly.
