I like a lot of design elements here, the large main image and the fixed header - the type and tone of it is pretty nice. There are some interaction elements that don’t make sense though, like the horizontal slider below the main image, I can’t figure out what it does exactly. Overall the look & feel is nice and has a high level of polish.

Really novel looking illustrations and I love that it’s very starkly read too. The fixed navigation with the arrow that slides over based on the section you’re viewing feels nice as you scroll down the page. Lovely site design.

This site immediately serves its primary purpose: to get you to engage. I love the stunning graphics and the clever loupe slider that when interacted with offers a horizontal parallax effect. The mega-nav has a couple of winning points to it too. First, there’s a decent sized thumbnail and description for each section without needing to click away. Secondly (and most cleverly) the dropdown acts like a modal, darkening everything about the page except the navigation, which gives focus to the task at hand. Some of the interior pages are more purposefully designed than others, however the site overall really does give a rich sense of community.

I love this design, the animation in the header is mesmerizing, in a good way I think. Super awesome lineup, Bill Clinton? I just love the illustrations of NYC and how it’s echoed from the header to the footer but night at the bottom. Slick.

I’ve been a fan of Yaron’s work for a while. Even before I knew who he was. I’ve been a longtime fan of Fantasy Interactive (Fi). He shares some great insight with me about the types of projects he’s worked on, in my opinion huge projects, like stuff for EA and National Geographic.

The Kontain signup from

Finding out that Yaron was the guy who designed the signup form for Kontain just makes me so happy. I’ve blogged about sign up form design (read it it’s good stuff :) before and this is one of my all time favorite signup form designs. In fact I consider this signup form design for Kontain one of the first and main designs to use the three horizontal fields.

Must designers know how to code?

It’s an age old discussion/argument but I had to ask, since he posted earlier about it. I have to agree with him when he say’s YES. It’s not like you’re going to fail if you don’t know how to write HTML/CSS but it’s sure as heck going to help you know what you can achieve. He’s a humble man, so he wouldn’t say he’s a “craftsman” when it comes to code. But dude, you totally are!

Beautifully designed portfolio site for Eric Barse. From the illustrations (they’re different on each sub page) to the responsive layout it’s very well done. The footer is very cool and also built to be responsive to screen widths which such a nice detail to pay attention too concerning the illustration work. Bravo here!

Love the illustrations of the trees in the background. The little multicolored squares that denote the screens in the slideshow(s) are subtle and skirt the line between not reading like slideshow markers at all. The way the logo and top nav is treated visually is rather nice and inviting looking to me. Overall nice site design.

I don’t know if it’s totally cool to feature our own work on our own gallery. So just keep that in mind. But we’re really damn proud of this website and the conference and want you to know about it and check it out.
