People get crushes, it’s that excitable part before you ask a girl out. It can be diagnosed by the over-reactive thought process you have about her followed by the non-stop descriptions to your friends and family. You’re like a giddy little kid with a new toy, I’m not mocking you as EVERYONE has been through it.

It’s hard for a guy to see a girl as “just a friend” and even if you do say it you’re really not meaning it. There will be one or two times in your life when you’re ACTUALLY friends and you wouldn’t want to take things further, this usually happens because they’re just not your ‘type’ and definitely don’t flick your switch.

Let us build a scenario. Imagine a guy called Dick, yup that you! And Jane, Jane is the girl you work with and you’ve been working with Jane for about 2 years. You’re friends with Jane, you go to work parties, you meet up for coffee or go to the cinema together. Those all sound like normal friend things to do don’t they. Jane’s thinking about the whole thing is that you’re friends and she doesn’t want anything else to happen. She’s the girl you can talk to when you’re down, you can text her when you’ve done something funny and she has no hesitation in calling you a friend.

From Dick’s point of view he’s known Jane for 2 years, he got to know her and as soon as he thought they got along ok he’d like to take things further.

The Problem: If he was to walk up to Jane and ask her out on a date the friendship would be lost forever.

Why?: Girls just don’t have the same mental positioning as us men.

There is a theory behind what happens called the ‘Ladder Theory‘.

As always Uncle Gav is looking to hear from you, if you’ve got any issues or concerns that you want to ask him about just let him know.

Maybe you’re in that place right now, maybe you’re in a predicament that you can’t see a way out of, maybe you think you’re stuck, maybe you’re in trouble… Just sit back and listen to what I’ve got to say for a minute.

NOTHING IS AS BAD AS WHAT YOU THINK IT IS

Sit back and think about what you’re stuck at or what you want to achieve and identify the things you would like to fix. Which ones you’re in control of and which ones you’re not, then put them into a list and start working through them.

At the end of all of that you’ll have a moment of clarity and figure out what needs to be done to make your life better.

I've seen suicide first hand, it's certainly not a very nice thing to see up close and personal and its certainly not very nice seeing someone go so low in themselves to think about taking their own life. To take your own life, you're not only restricting yourself from becoming so much better than the person you are but you're hindering the people closest to you from being happy also. Granted these days you have to think about yourself first but believe you me there is always someone close to you no matter what kind of person you are or what you've done.

Taking your own life is never a good option. There are many reasons why people think about taking their own lives and only today I picked up the newspaper to find that even Eminem had thought about taking his own life (I didn’t read the article, only the headline) at some point.

I’ve seen suicide first hand, it’s certainly not a very nice thing to see up close and personal and its certainly not very nice seeing someone go so low in themselves to think about taking their own life. To take your own life, you’re not only restricting yourself from becoming so much better than the person you are but you’re hindering the people closest to you from being happy also. Granted these days you have to think about yourself first but believe you me there is always someone close to you no matter what kind of person you are or what you’ve done.

If you’re feeling down, if you feel like you’ve got nothing else to lose then go and talk to someone. IT IS NEVER TOO LATE. Ever.

Get everything off your chest, there are more than enough people around you to help you deal with things that are bothering you. No matter who you are or what you’re thinking you have so much to live for, I’m asking for anyone in that position to look through where they are in the moment and look to the future look where you want to be.

Let’s start looking beyond problems, aiming high and reaching a happy future!

Life is never as bad as you think it is!

A relationship is supposed to be a happy place where you and your partner love each other and spend your lives together. Granted you cannot all that time together and not have any type of argument or disagreement but there is certainly a time when you need to take a step back and look from the outside inwards.

When things seem all ok but you’re in constant disagreement with each other and/or arguing all the time then do you really think thats the way its supposed to be? You have to step back and realise that you maybe are not meant for each other, could you see yourself living your life alongside the person you’re busy shouting at? I very much doubt it.

Bite the bullet and end things, bollocks to all that having a break crap, just realise that you’re not actually meant to be together. I’ll tell you now that there will be someone else in the world that you’ll love for the rest of your life and arguments will become a thing of the past.

I’ve talked and offered advice on how there is no need to panic or worry about your driving test. Your driving test is one of the most poignant times in your life, it provides a sense of freedom like you’ve never had before. When it comes down to it, your nerves tremble and no matter how much you try and calm down the nervousness can sometimes get the better of you. Before you even get to your practical test you need to complete and pass the driving theory and hazard perception test. The theory test is simple enough, a range of questions which you have to answer correctly.

Tip for passing the driving theory test

Get a hold of the driving theory test CD, install it onto the computer and work through test after test after test. Do this for 2 or 3 hours a day for around a week and you’ll pass your test first time (probably), I’ve not known someone fail by doing it this way yet.

The tricky bit

When the Hazard Perception test was added to the driving theory test it was supposed to make the test harder in many ways and hopefully over time decrease the amount of people who weren’t meant to pass. Revision for this part of the test was difficult as revising for something that is going to be completely random is a no hoper at best.

This is what the DVLA have to say about the test;

The hazard perception part is delivered on a computer and you respond by clicking a button on the mouse. You will be presented with a series of video clips which feature every day road scenes. In each clip there will be at least one developing hazard, but one of the clips will feature two developing hazards.

To achieve a high score you will need to respond to the developing hazard during the early part of its development. The maximum you can score on each hazard is five.

Recognition of available clues and perception of danger are skills that are necessary in all drivers and riders, irrespective of the vehicle used. For this reason, the same version of the hazard perception test is used for all categories of test.

The DVLA website attempts to give you tips on when to click during the test however its not very helpful so I’ll provide a solid tip to take heed of and you’ll be enlightened as to how easy the test actually is.

Click when something is going to cause you to speed up, slow down or change direction.

That’s it, no long and complicated explanation just another one liner which will help you out a lot.

In summary the tips to passing your driving theory test are;

Get a hold of the driving theory test CD, install it and work through the test for 2 or 3 hours a day for about a week prior to your test. You will begin to recognise the answers to the questions. Even if you think you know them all, keep at it. Prior preparation prevents a piss poor performance after-all.

During the Hazard Perception phase of your driving theory test remember to click when something causes you to speed up, slow down or change direction and don’t be too trigger happy.

I’d love to hear from people who have used this advice/tips and passed.

These tips are from my own point of view only and MAY help you pass, so I take no responsibility for what happens I can only say they have worked for myself and others over the years.
