How to install wood fired heater?

If you have space and are looking for the best sauna experience then wood fired sauna is for you. So what is involved in wood fired sauna stove installation?

Well, since wood fired heater does not have thermostat, you can imagine that the stove gets very hot during sauna session and that’s why it requires more space around it not to set an entire structure on fire. To have a general idea on the space required in a sauna room with wooden walls, please look at the diagram below:

As you can see minimum distance is 500mm around the stove. And what if you would like to have wood burning sauna but do not want to built huge sauna for it? We at Ukko Saunas have a solution to that problem – we can supply specially designed protective shield for your sauna stove:

This little enclosure reduces the space required for wood heater installation by 450mm around it! And if you are planning to install your heater on to a tiled or timber floor, we can supply stainless steel floor bedding to complete your sauna setup:

As you can see wood fired sauna stove installation involves much more and on top of that you have to allow extra budget for certified plumber to mount all the pipes for you. But considering that power cost is rising almost every quarter, your return on initial money investment will be well paid up within a year or two (depending how often you use your sauna).

Ukko Barrel Sauna installed in Blue Mountains

We’ve just installed Ukko Barrel sauna in Blue Mountains, NSW. This sauna was built from 38mm thick Western Red Cedar logs with a traditional timber sauna door.

Based on customer’s request, benches inside the sauna were placed on to two different levels making them upper and lower benches for better sauna experience:

We’ve had a lot of interest in tubs, saunas and chemical free water purifier during our first day. Lots of talking and explaining, we think our tongues will fall of by the end of the day !!

This sauna was installed over the week-end in O’Connor – one of the suburbs of ACT. It is our standard log sauna package which comes with clear glass door in Cedar frame, 6kW electric sauna heater and all sauna accessories.

Ukko Log Cabin Installed in Yarra Glen, VIC

Ukko log cabin complete with sauna and wood fired heater...

This Finnish cabin was supplied to our customer direct from Finland. It was made out of 45mm thick Nordic Spruce with complete pitched roof and shingles. DIY package arrived with everything including floor and ceiling boards.

It has two rooms, which normally used as a sauna itself and a changing room. And if you don’t want a sauna you can use it as a study or a granny flat…

“Where we are, we have a lot of wood” – said Gary, a happy owner of the sauna. So based on this requirement, we supplied wood fired heater, stainless steel bedding (to put the heater on) with protective shield, flew chimney and chimney cap.

Tub Birthday Party. One more thing you can do with your tub!

We are very busy to fulfill our obligations to all customers who ordered their sauna or tub in October 2011. Due to current load of work we have the following manufacturing schedule till the end of this year:

If you want your tub to be delivered by Xmas, your order must be placed on or before 18th of November 2011.
If you would like to have one of our Cedar log saunas to be delivered by Xmas, you need to place your order by 11th of November 2011. All orders after that will be delivered by the end of Jan. 2012.
