Tupalo.com goes Larger Than Life

The Tupalo.com office in the heart of Vienna, Austria has gone Larger Than Life, thanks to our good friends at LTLprints, who recently delivered a package full of beautiful graphics for us to stick around our walls. LTLprints create premium wall graphics, similar to stickers, only not exactly! Their prints are ultra high quality, using a patented print technique, which outputs 1440 dpi wall stickers on premium 10 mil re-positionable fabric paper, which can be removed and re-used up to 100 times, and be up to 7 feet tall!

Our favorite is our giant Tupalo.com logo, here greeting anyone who walks into our office:

Though naturally we also love Tupalero Hill, which runs along the baseboards of our whiteboard wall

Also, our light fixtures and Carpe Diem drink area has the Tupalo.com map marker treatment

Austria’s finest music, tech and cultural magazine The Gap Magazine recently celebrated their 100th issue anniversary by compiling a top 100 list of influential people under 40 (or so) who are active in the tech, creative, politics and arts scenes in Austria. A bit of a who’s who in Austria working on cool shit, if you will.

Proudly featured in the list were Mike and Clemens from Tupalo.com, who together founded Tupalo in Vienna, Austria in Spring of 2007.

Thanks everyone who showed up at our recent Tupalo Community Party. There is a slight chance that you actually don’t know what we are talking about – in this case, we urge you to write more reviews in the future. The party was intended for our dearest and most supportive Tupaleros. They are awesome!

We also would like to say thank you to Bionade, Carpe Diem and Freewave for graciously being part of an awesome party.

As some of might have already noticed, we just implemented the long awaited Facebook Connect on Tupalo.com. This enables all new users to simply sign up by using their existing Facebook Account.
We accept that the majority of our existing and new users is part of Facebook (heck, so is the world) and we’d like to make it as smooth as possible for you guys to acutally review your favorite places.

You’ve all probably already heard of so-called Restaurant weeks. Restaurants team up for a specific week, where they offer people participating in the so-called “Restaurant Week” a special menue at a very reasonable price. Those restaurant weeks have emerged throughout Europe and the US and the concept seems to be well accepted by the people.

In the future we’ll gather the best Restaurant weeks around the world so just in case you are in this town, you’ll never miss anyone again.

Tupalo.com has some qualities, we all know that, and soon Tupalo awesomeness will be available on a rather famous mobile device (You wanted it!). However, we have some other (and until now pretty well hidden) features and possibilites to spread the word and get Tupalo to your friends. Our so-called “Tools” section in the footer of the site hides some nifty little tools. Here’s a quick overview of what we can offer:

Integrate those nifty, little graphically enhanced Textlinks into your Blog posts and share your favorite Spots! Get them from the Spots’ sidebar and copy the code wherever you want them to appear.

The Tupalo Spot Widget code is available from every Tupalo Spot page, allowing you to embed a formatted business information widget into your posts. The Tupalo Spot Widget is perfect for those with a blog or website allowing Javascript.

Michael Jackson’s Goodbye Party

The Jackson family will continue to celebrate the life of Michael Jackson with a party Thursday evening following the funeral.

The family has rented Villa Sorriso in Pasadena, Calif. for an invitation-only gathering of about 250 guests. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served.

A rep for the restaurant told “Extra,” “Members of the Jackson family have been valued guests of Villa Sorriso for many years. We are sincerely touched and flattered that they are entrusting us with such an important gathering of friends and family.”

New look and speed improvements at Tupalo.com!

As many of you may have already noticed, we’ve rolled out a refresh to the layout of Tupalo.com, one of many, many improvements you can expect in the coming weeks as we begin the long process of improving the overall user experience of Tupalo.com. We’ve freshened up quite a few aspects of the service which have been around since the early beta days, expanding white space and letting Tupaleros breath a little clearly. In addition, we’ve made some behind-the-scenes fixes to improve page loading times and overall site performance.

Any bug reports, feedback or problems feel free to leave contact us or submit some of your thoughts in our feedback and ideas forum!
