Hey Guys,
As some of you may know I’ve been studying photography in IADT for the past four years. On Thursday the 22nd of May we are opening our graduate exhibition and I would love to invite everybody along to celebrate with us. There is some fantastic work on display & there promises to be some great people to rub shoulders with and talk about this fantastic thing called PHOTOGRAPHY. Portraits at Killruddery

At the start of the year Aoife (who is a lyrical genius… aka singer) got in touch with me to have her portrait taken. She wanted a mix of shots for her portfolio, promotional material etc. We decided to shoot in the beautiful Killruddery house & gardens in Bray, Co Wicklow. We got really lucky that morning and were given a fantastic sun filled day in early January. It was an absolute blast skipping around the forests and creating some beautiful shots – it reminded me of the movie The Secret Garden (Does anybody else remember that film?).

Everything was shot with natural light and the odd reflector. Looking forward to grabbing a pint with Aoife when she gets back from studying in Wales!

Mens Fashion Ireland Photoshoot

Last month I was asked to shoot the cover of a new magazine, MFI – Mens Fashion Ireland. The concept & art direction was left open so I had free rein on the shoot. The week before the shoot, Mens Fashion Ireland & Assets Model Agency teamed up to run a competition to become a signed model for a year. They took to the streets of Dublin scouting for the best male model – The winner was Riccardo Nardini. Riccardo was fantastic on the day, he had never modeled before and he sure could have fooled us!

We had a fantastic team on the day and everybody did a great job!!

A night in Glendalough, Wicklow

The last few months have seen me disappear into the ether. As some of you may know, I am in my last year of college & it has taken over my life. Last week I handed up a big chunk of my thesis(about halfway there) and Shirls finished some BIG exams, so we trotted off to Glendalough for a few nights. It was amazing!! If you know me, you know I LOVE GLENDALOUGH, it’s one of my favourite places in the world. We stayed in the Glendaloch International Hostel where we could hike to the lakes, up to the Spinc and off to dinner at night. It’s exactly what we needed!

These are taken quite late on our arrival the first night. I was dying to see the upper lake so we went up there in the pitch dark, nada but moonlight & high high ISO.

We stopped for a little bit of fun and photography training where I taught Shirls a bit on how to focus and always placing your subject perfectly centre frame everytime hehe.

Then the roles reversed and Shirls taught me some Yoga in the woods. What a magical day!

Mirror Mirror

Do you ever have one of those shoots planned that look like they will never happen? This was one of those. The idea first came to mind nearly 10 months ago. Every time we would set a shoot date either there was a location/model problem. Thankfully we got to shoot this three weeks ago. A huge thank you to all the talent, everybody was amazing on the day!!!

This is a shot from a test shoot a few months ago in the studio. Using just one light and a 56″ Octo, behind the camera and about 10-15 inches higher at a 35-40deg.
