advice please

hi everyone, hope all is well!

this may sound daft but i need some advice from you guys! i was speaking on the phone 2day 2 my man just as normal and after speaking with him i log onto my facebook, only to find he was online. i was a little puzzled as he had told me he was going for a shower and heading back to work, and also he has no access to a the internet or even a computer! he hasnt been online in months!

so i call him and he says no im not online, then he says oh that must be my sister my password is saved on the computer at home, so i think nothing more of it until i go onto his page only to find my comments and the pictures of the two of us i had tagged deleted! so again i call him but no answer so i text him sayin why had they been deleted, i try calling again but no answer again so he gets a cheekier, angrier text from me! he replies with i give my sister the password an tell her to delete your comments and pictures because some photos on there he dont need, and some of the pictures they cause problem with his friend because ther are picture of his friend with another girl when he already has girlfriend in england! he says if i want put photo on his facebook but just me and him! but why delete my comments unless he has something to hide!

anyway, what do you guys think? something's just not right! help!

im doing my own head bout the visa app we want apply in dec 4 settlement visa but i just wonder if u ladies can help with yet another question im sorry!!! they married me from my maiden name from my birth cert but on my passport i have my old married name i havent had chance to change it yet.... does my passport have to be in my new married name when we apply for the visa as also my present passport has my stamps in from the visits.. thanks in advance

i am a 25 years tunisian student and i hold a tunisian passport.
recently, an Irish friend expressed her wish to invite me in her house in London. she has an irish passport.
what kind of visa i have to apply for, knowing that i am a student, i still rely on my parents to have my pocket money and i have no intention to work or study in england.the costs of the plane tickets and my pocket money will be sponsored by my friend, and of course F&B, accomodation will be at my friend's.
what do you advise me? what are your recommandations?
i made a look on the website of the embassy, especially that formulaire to be fullfilled. but found nothing that indicates the type of documents me and my host should supply to the embassy!
any information will be the welcome!

Urgent Hols visa advice needed!

Hi everyone

I have not posted for ages...it's been a crazy busy year getting ready for a wedding in Feb and I am excited but panicked too.... so much to remember!

In the middle of this we have applied for a visitor visa online and df goes on Tues to take all the paperwork and I am worried if there is anything missing and I need to send anything apart from what follows:

3 months of my bank statements,
copy of my passport,
my payslip,
letter inviting him

I am now worried I should send a letter from my boss confirming my employment and a copy of mortgage deeds? is this REALLY the case or is the above sufficient? Also do we find out the decision on the day he goes or do we wait for them to call him after?

I am soooo worried he will be denied a visa on some silly bit of paper missing, any replies tonight from any experts really appreciated!

Hi Everyone,

My name is Rakia and I've just recently re-located to the UK (North Eastern Scotland) from my native Tunisia, and boy it's so COLD!!!

I met my husband (he's Scottish) while he was on a two year placement working for an American oil company.

I am originally from Siliana, but was raised in Sousse. But for the last eight years I've lived in Sidi Bou Said.

Now that I'm in Scotland things are very different!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't find the grocery items I want in the shops, driving on the wrong side of the road!! Luckily i got my International permit before i left Tunis!!

If anyone wants to know anything about Tunisia, where to go; restaurants, good and bad, anything at, all drop me a mail.

If you know of any imporium who sells Tunisian produsts in the UK I'd apreciate the contact details. Also, tell me if you are Tunisian, how you settled into the British way of life, any lessons learned you can pass on?

As a member of this forum and others, I would like to know why some members post certain things on here, and then humiliate or talk derogatory about others on other forums/websites. I have always answered honestly and to the best of my "own" knowledge and experience, please or offend!! Why do people join a forum that we all have some link to, ie; TUNISIA, and then backstab elsewhere??? Just don't get it.........:mad:

Maybe some people do not have the guts to answer in an honest way, or sometimes just enjoy the ridicule, or worse some are lying to themselves!!!

Last night I went out with my friend for her birthday.
We ended up in a local nightclub..we had had a talk on the way and she had jokingly called me a "perv" for having my young BF. I know she was joking but it still hurt...so I said well look at the alternative
Within five minutes of being in the place I think she understood..all balding drunk podgy leery and mostly married!
I just did NOT want to be there I enjoyed the dancing..but would much rather have been somewhere wih him..just made me miss him all the more.
So to all the ladies out there quesioning yourselves..take a look around and see what the poor souls in your area have to put up with!

Hello to evryone, hope you are all well!

I became a member a few days ago & think its time to share my story! So here goes......
It started in May this year when i met my Tunsian "friend" as he worked in animation at the hotel we spoke everyday & went out at nite just as friends, nothing ever came of it as i was with someone at the time he was also Tunisian, i met him in september 08, the relationship/fling definately NOT love! (not so sure what to call it) ended halfway through my holiday, the second i found out he was married!!! :mad: My man now, respected my decision at the time in just being friends. When i returned home we kept in contact & spoke everyday, (i actually missed our chats) it amazed me the small details he remembered of our time together which i thought was very sweet! 2 months had past when he told me he was in love with me & wanted me to go back. I didnt want to admit my feelings in fear that it was a joke, he was only interested in visa, what my family would think & of course trusting him because of what happened before! Eventually i decided to go back in October & boy was I glad I did, I fell for him big time we had a great week together, fortunately the hotel was quiet & even though he was meant to be working we spent everyday & nite together. if it was upto me i would get married tomorrow & even live there which is what he wants, being half sicilian I think I would adapt easily as some things are pretty similar! CRAZY maybe but life is just tooo short & i do love him!!! He gave me a necklace with my name in arabic bless him which i wasnt expecting! So i'm back in England & miss him sooo much!! Hoping to go back soon, My family here dont quite get it! brother so very protective of his little sis i keep reminding him i'm 27!!! i'm old enough to make my own decisions if it works great if not well it just wasnt meant to be! Soory to go on!!!:D no doubt i will have many questions for you all & think its fantastic how you all support eachother keep up the great work xx

hi everyone, I'm new here, so I thought I'd say hello and tell you a bit about myself.

In August I went on holiday and met a gorgeous Tunisian. We didn't have much luck in hooking up - he was working so hard, but we really liked each other so after e-mailing lots I went back out to where he was working three weeks ago and spent a wonderful week with him. The relationship is still very new, but I am falling for him in a big way; he is just so kind and funny and caring (and very good looking ;-)) - I am really smitten. I am hopefully going out to see him again in a couple of weeks, but he is just visiting his family in Tunisia at present (he lives in Germany the rest of the year). Thank goodness for skype and webcams.

It is so hard because I never wanted a long distance relationship, and my parents are very against the idea of it. They don't know that I'm seeing him because they told me that if I went back to visit him they wouldn't have any more to do with me. They are good people; they said that because they were worried he would take advantage and hurt me, but still, it was the wrong thing to do as no one can tell another person who to date (and I'm 27, so quite capable of making up my own mind and weighing up the pros and cons). So it's hard. I'm only going to tell them I'm seeing him if after a couple more trips I know this is a serious relationship and I'll have to hope that me being happy is what is important to them. But I know they want me to date a doctor or a lawyer and someone who lives in England, and here I am falling for someone who works in animation. But to me what matters is being in love and being happy and really connecting with someone. No amount of money in the world can buy that. And I've been out with English men who have treated me badly, so it's not like dating an English doctor/lawyer/blah blah blah is any guarantee against being treated badly. I know my parents would also be very concerned about me dating a muslim (they have read so many books about western women falling in love with nice muslim men who go back to their home countries and become tyants. It's easy to be scared of what you don't understand) but my boy isn't a strict muslim at all - he drinks and smokes and is divorced.

Anyway, it has been great reading other peoples' stories about their Tunisian boyfriends. It feels very sad to me that I can't share my happiness with my parents.

I'm sure I'll have lots of questions for everyone over the coming weeks! It is so hard being separated from someone you care about, isn't it?

Hello all..

I did try to go through old posts as i think ihave seen a post on this before but i got to page 15 and was getting so side tracked reading ther posts and still not finding the new one, so im sorry in advance...

But i was wondering if anybody would be so kind to either put or pm me some recipes of basic tunisian food... Or even a website that i can print them off... Mainly cous cous as i have forgotten althoughlast time was way to hot!!! Also speghetti as when i made it sauce stayed in the pan lol... Also i dont the name of these but il do my best to describe them...
1.Is served with meat in it but it is a thick black colour sauce, looks like oil or tar...
2.I know its made with eggs and cooked in a circle dish normally with hole in the middle and sometimes tuns or chicken or something in it...
3.Red sauce and iv always had it with chicken

Any help would be greatly apprecihated as im going in two weeks and trying to make life a little easier for our first few months as a married couple and Salim knows bits and bobs but these are the main foods i like lol and he dont know these lol and whenever i stay and watch his mum we end up talking and iend up playing with the kids lol xxx thanks xxx

Household items-Basic questions - help!

Hi every1 hope you are all well and happy!!

Suddenly dawned on me that by the 5th December myself and Salim are going o have our own house, not found it yet but Salim is out looking and we only want a one bedroom place so cant be that hard to find...

But me, having a really dumg 5 minutes just realised ok we may have our house and the basic items that we need,tv,bed,cooker,fridge, which we are getting from tunis as i would be cheaper but im now panicing about less obvious stuff.. As it is mine and Salims first time to ever get a house and fill it we are both clueless!!!
Soooooo.....
1.Where would i get a tv box with MBC 1,2 ect from?? Roughly how much do these cost??
2.Am i best to stick to souks (markets dont know if i spelt that right) for rugs ect ect?? If not does anybody know any place around hammam sousse that do rugs at a good price???
3.Where and how much is it to get a key cut???
4.Would it be cheaper to but cups ect in the uk and take over??
5.Can you buy duvets in tunisia, Salim seems to thin you can but im thinking he means thick blankets, i want my duvets lol....
6.Also neither of us have a clue about heating,any advice welcome....
Also i have brought loads of air freshners to take over as they are cheaper in the uk, are these ok in my main luggage???
See when we was in an apartment this was easy lol i know we will be ok just im worrying and Salim seems clueless as he has always lived in a place that has everything there ready to use, but this is making it very fun and interesting... Thanks guys xxxxx

Basically my Salim has a few relatives in Djerba and they have invited myslef and him to go stay for a few days after they have returned from our wedding.. We both really want to go and i was wondering what are the best ways to go??
I know louages would probably be cheaper but it would take sooo long and it does not help that i get bored and cant keep still in a louage fro tunis to sousse so i think i would drive Salim mental if we did that..
So flights?? Where do they fly from tunis or monatir?? Roughly how much are they??

Hi everyone.

I’m getting a bit worried about the future. You all seem an honest and supportive bunch, so would really appreciate your thoughts.

Bit of background first...

I had a crappy previous marriage, which finally broke down last year.

To get over everything, I went on a quiet holiday to Tunisia with some friends and met a Tunisian guy. We spent much time talking and agreed to stay in touch.

The first contact from him was 10 minutes on the return bus drive to the airport and it’s been much that way ever since… We talk daily and I go out to see him whenever I can.

We talked about the future very early on and was kind of informed that if we want to be together then we would need to marry – we couldn’t live together as boyfriend and girlfriend in Tunisia and he couldn’t come to the UK if not married.

That was alright – I had a divorce and house sale to sort out this end anyway... It would be ages away…

I said from the beginning I’d be happy to live in Tunisia as fell in love with the place from the first visit. Due to debts however, I’ll be unable to live there for a while as need a decent income to clear them. The plan is to marry, have new husband move here, clear debts, save, then move out to Tunisia and start small business together.

I feel a very close bond in terms of emotional intelligence – I like the way he thinks, his values and respect for family and friends.

My parents have been out, met his family etc. Everyone gets on really well and his Mum loves me to bits. I absolutely adore the time I spend with him – I feel valued and respected. I hate to come home and generally have to wear sunglasses all flight home to hide the puffy eyes!

But soon all the plans are about to become reality and I don’t know if it’s just nerves or something I should pay more attention to:

• I loved the idea of moving to Tunisia to escape my life last year – reality now dawning and not sure I want to be away from my family and English way of life? Almost hoping he’ll love it so much here, won’t want to go back to Tunisia. But that’s unfair.
• Have always paid an interest in Islam, however have been asked a few times if I’ll convert. Told no issues one way or another, but would really make him and his Mum super happy. Don’t want to now – how do I communicate that without being totally disrespectful?
• If moving there, get the impression it’ll be near his Mum and I’ll be spending days at a time sitting with and helping her.
• For my first pregnancy I’d want to be round my Mum – how would I cope in Tunisia?
• Will my independence go?
• Will he change?

I’m just really bothered and your experiences would be totally appreciated.

I know that I want to be with him but almost wish it could all be on my terms. Not going to happen and a bit selfish, however I have been burnt before.

Hey ladies (and gentlemen)
As you may have realised i have not been on here in a very long time.
Since my awful holiday to tunisia in July of this year to see my man who works as animation in Sahara beach hotel i gave up.
However. i returned to Tunisia last week and stayed with a friend whom i've known a while. We visited the hotel as we both know people who work there and obviously i saw my 'ex' as so to speak.
We went out on the saturday night and ended up back at my friends house, a fair few of us.
The next day he took me to meet his family and stay the night there, in Tunis.
I am so confused as to what is going on?! His sister speaks little english but i managed to ask whether he brings home girls previously and shes said no. She is 14 and really really sweet. I honestly believe her.
The thing is.. his mother was away, they said she was staying with her sister as she is ill. His younger sister also said they do not sleep in the same room anymore.
Me and my 'ex' (im not sure what i should call him - ive no idea whats going on at the moment) were allowed to stay in the same bed.. Weird huh!?

Is this because the mother wasn't there?
Does it mean it is all an act if the mother is not present?
I heard its her opinion of me as to whether i am suitable or not. The other family members opinion doesnt mattter?!?
Is this why he took me home at a time when she was not there!??

Im very confused and would apperciate a little help on the matter.

Ok.....I'm having a really bad week....I miss Salah terribly, and feel like a woman on the edge at the moment. He too is very stressed at the moment with this seperation and its killing us. We are literally making ourselves sick with worry!

I think you girls all deserve medals for your patience and I have a lot to learn from you. I am not known for my patience!! Maybe its too many years working in the city......I want it here and now!!

Anyway, I desperately want to see whether I can help Salah to get a UK tourist visa sorted to come over to London and it appears from previous threads to be very tricky indeed. I just want to know whether I can act as his sponsor if he doesnt have a bank account/payslips etc? Will the authorities decline his visa application if he doesnt have these things or would they be happy if I show that I have sufficient funds in my account (how much should I have in there?) and write a letter to state I will be his sponsor? I am in the process of setting up a business at the moment and have been working on this for nearly a year now so havent got any payslips myself? My business is hoping to launch in the next 2 mnths. I do however have sufficient funds in my account. Would it help if we both return to tunisia together? He is working and therefore will be able to get a letter from his employer stating he will return.

I have tried to call the embassy in tunisia a couple of times, however they always seem to be on a lunch break. I will try again however I just want to know whether i am barking up the wrong tree or wasting my time living in hope?

Casn any one offer suggestions. Myself and most of my family have food allergies and sensitivites (it seems it stems from me) This is wheat intolerance and dairy intolerance
I take goats milk, soya milk, goats cheese, rice and rice noodles. I use any type of flours that i can get my hands on, 8i bake my own bread, cakes and make my own pasta. Its all expensive, time consuming and the food is not as nice as the food i would like to eat.
I enjoy all kinds of "foreign" foods, i love tasty flavours.
I feel that some of you ladies will use and cook with flours and ingredients that would not harm me, i would appreciate any advice/suggestions, I do not have access in the immediate area to "exotic" shops but i am willing and able to seek them out, at the moment i use the boring "green" shops, and i do find them boring, thin pasty women, looking like they need a decent meal, and bearded men with sandals on, lreft all that behind in the 60s, no need to present that now, but still each to their own, i simply get p.. off when i shop there, they are all very nice, but all very vegetarian with a holier than thou attitude, and SOOOO organic, i dont buy organic, as i believe the only organic food, is the stuff i grow in my own garden, these bods keep trying to sell me organic wheat products, as if the fact that they believe its organic, will be good for me!! Any how, had my moan, didnt realise i was so put out by them, sorry!! Any ideas, recipes etc etc

My husband is a Tunisian. We got married in the US. He is now facing possible deportation. We have 2 kids who adore him. I dont know what to do. Im currently about to apply for nursing school. Can I get a job there when I am finished and just move there with the kids? Am I going to have major culture shock? Will I regret going there? My only other option is divorce....which would be stupid. I really need you guys to tell me all the wonderful things about Tunisia (Nabuel to be exact). I am starting to get fearful. What if anything will make me hate it? Will I be able to use my degree? Should I just stay here and start life over? OMG, I am a basket case right now!

As some of you may know I have been living in Tunisia for over 3 yrs now, and running a successful business here.Due to unforseen circumstances I am going to have to return to the Uk as soon as possible. Me and my fiance are due to marry very soon and will submit our settlement visa papers so that we can both return together. I may be worrying for nothing, but do you think I have a good chance of getting his settlement visa an us both returning together, or do you think I will have to return on my own to the UK and get a job first? I own my own house in the UK which is currently been rented out to my family, but do you think this will be enough for the Embassy to grant a settlement visa ??? any advice is greatly appreciated xx

Hi all I am new on here and can't find the intoductions forum.! I am going to Sousse on 8th November for 2 weeks. Travelling alone for the first time. Getting over losing mylong term partner and just wanted to get away from all the grief and needed to be alone. I spent a very happy holiday in Sousse with my partner some years ago but have now got cold feet about going alone. Should say I am an older woman so I probably should not worry, but suddenly with just a few days to go it doesn't seem like such a good idea. I would be very grateful for any advice as you all seem to know tunisia so well. I would alos like to know how the weather is so I know what to take - and if there are mozzies this time of year (I am allergic) Thank you in advance - I have enjoyed reading some of the forum and have found it both intresting and instructive.

Hi all, Had my scan yesterday and to be honest I've been so upset. The baby is fine right size and heartbeat strong and everything looks ok. The problem is it showed like it looks as if I do have a placenta previa, Doctor say's not to be overly concerned as they do sometimes move position in the last trimester, at the worst it will mean going into hospital earlier and having a C section.
But in my head I can't get rid of the feeling it's all going to go wrong again and all my dreams will once more turn to ash. I lost my last baby due to this problem and I see history repeating myself. My friend stayed over last night and she has been a great support to me, I don't know if I should tell R as he has only just got back and just finding out about the baby is shock enough and anyway there's nothing he could do even if he wanted to. Sorry to be such a gloom merchant but I just needed to get it off my chest as I'm sitting here alone brooding on how life is just so damn unfair sometimes.

My BF had a hospital appointment yesterday asked him to txt me and let me know how he got on..and guess what..no text. I'm sure theres a load of excuses from the "Tunisian Man's book of excuses for not texting" but he'll still be being told off later.

well not long back from tunisia, im planning on a return trip at the end of january/start of february.

usually travel with thomas cook but visiting a different resort this time and unfortunately they dont have this resort on their list! :(

i was looking at lowcostholidays.com and was wondering has any1 here used them before and what your experiences are of them!

Has anyone made this move and what is life like? What were the things you love about it and what do you miss the most? Do you see yourselves living in Tunisia forever or do you want to one day return home? How have you adapted to living in a muslim country and has that had an impact on the way you live. Have your partners changed since you have come to live in Tunisia? So many questions so little time......

My fiance applied for his bulletin 3 , 3 weeks ago and has been getting the run around , they keep telling him it will be here tomorrow every day and so far its not com yet . The problem is that he has his appointment at the embassy tomorrow at 10 am . Do any of you think that a b3 from 2007 will do just now if he explaines to them what has happened and gets it to them as soon as he gets it , he got the 2007 one translated to take with him but im so nervous that this is going to mess it up for us .:eek:

Hi there everyone!
I'm new to here but have been watching your threads and felt it was time to join in!

I met a Tunisian man a few months ago whilst on holiday. He ran an independent shop in the hotel complex and we would chat every day. Whenever I spoke to him he would get flustered and ignore anyone else who was in the room with him.....it was clear he liked me very much. I have to admit I would find any excuse to spy on him or bump into him......to me he was the most gorgeous guy i had ever met (inside and out!). On my final night he plucked up the courage to come over and tell me that he wanted to keep in touch when I went home and that he had never met anyone who had taken his breathe away as I had. Anyway, we stayed in contact when I got home and he asked me to come back and see him. Its the craziest thing I have ever done, however I decided to take the plunge and return to see him. It was certainly the best decision I have ever made! I have never been treated so well by someone before. He rented an apartment by the sea, kitted the house out with everything i could possibly need from toilet roll (!!), moisturiser and wine to flowers and candles! I had an amazing time with him and allowed my heart to let him in! I even met his parents on a couple of occasions since he had told them all about me (and told them that he had met his soul mate....eek!). He says he has never met anyone like me before, that he fell in love with me the first moment he saw me. He even remembers what I was wearing when i walked into the hotel even though I never saw him.

So now I am back home in London and missing him like crazy! My head is in a spin! He has made it clear that he loves me and wants to marry me. He is not keen at all to come to London, but will come over for a holiday to see my life here. Since he is probably the only tunisian man to feel the cold I feel London could be too much for him.....too cold and too culturally different. And I am a London girl (through and through) with a house and animals and no plans to live in another country just at the moment. I am also starting up an internet business at the moment.

So here I am in a pickle......I never planned to meet someone on holiday, let alone a tunisian man and all the complications that go hand in hand with that! I know he loves me as I love him too however i just have no idea how to make this work! I am 35 and he is 30, and i dont want to faff around. Someone please help me, I need some comfort and advise!!
Suggestions on a postcard are also welcome!!

LAST SATURDAY NIGHT I WENT TO THE AIRPORT FOR A DRINK (WELL THE AIRPORT IS NEXT TO MY FLAT AND I LIKE THE PLACE BCS I FEEL IN THE MOST CLOSER PLACE OF NELA), WELL WE WAS SITTING IN OUR TABLE MY FRIEND AND ME WHEN ONE YOUNG MAN START TO TALK WITH US HE WAS ASKING IF WE WANT TO BUY HIS PHONE I SHOW HIM THAT I AM NOT INTERESTED REALLY IN PHONES MY FRIEND AS WELL SO HE START TO SHOW AS WATCHES CLOTHES AND STAFF LIKE THAT. SO I WAS QUIET SUSPECTING THAT THIS STAFF WAS STOLEN AND WE WILL HAVE PROBLEMS IF THE POLICE COUCH US BUYING FROM HIM, WHEN HE TOLD ME THAT IS HIS GIRLFRIEND WHO GIVE IT TO HIM AND SHE JUST LEFT NOW TO HER COUNTRY. WHEN I HEARD THIS TALK FROM HIM I START TO TALK WITH HIM I WAS TRYING TO DISCOVER WHY IS HE BUYING HIS PRESENT I TOLD HIM THAT A PRESENT IS SOME THING BIG YOU CANT BUY IT LIKE THAT SO I DISCOVER THAT I AM DEALING WITH ONE OF THE LOVE RATS WE WAS TALKING ABOUT ALL THIS TIME, HE JUST SEARCH FOR OPPORTUNITY'S THAT S ALL, WHEN HE START TO TALK ABOUT HIS GIRLFRIEND WHO HE S GOING TO MARRY IN TO MONTHS TIME I JUST FEEL SICK, HE SAID IN FULL WORDS "SHE S OLD AND I AM STILL YOUNG SO SHE HAVE TO PAY TO GET ME", SO I WAS TRYING TO TELL HIM THAT SHE S A WOMAN AND HE SHOULD NOT DO THAT TO HER I TOLD HIM EVEN JUST THINK THAT SHE S YOUR SISTER WOULD YOU BE HAPPY IF SOME BODY ABUSE HER GENEROSITY?? WE WAS TALKING AROUND 2 HOURS ABOUT IT AND HE HAD SOME FRIENDS WITH HIM WHO SHARE WITH HIM THE SAME IDEAS AND MOST OF THEM ARE WITH FOREIGNER.

WELL THE STRANGE THAT HE WAS SELLING TO MY FRIEND A WATCH FOR 100 TD WHEN IT COST 1,678$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are a number of different friendship sites open to us all, whereby we meet and chat on-line with others, from all over the world. I am going to ask for comments about a recent experience (now resolved) as I would like to feel that the right path has been taken. I have had help advice and support from a british lady, married (happily to a Tunisian man) and she advised me to come onto this site. A young lady (30yrs), very attractive, blonde, single mum of 2 began to chat on-line with a young tunisian man (amongst others, from holland, canada, britain, male and female) she was looking for interesting chats and friends only, and was/is genuine. She found a rapport with this uyoung, lively, interesting and intelligent young guy from Tunisia, a bit more so than with some of her other friends, she thoroughly enjoyed atlking to him, she liked him, no agenda, no motives. He began to get a little romantic, she did warn him that this wasnt why she was communicating, he continued and declared undying love for her, he was very sweet, said lovely things, however, she did wonder how anyone could fall in love so heavily, without meeting, he began to "push" her to go to visiit him, wanting her to use wegb cam etc etc., she felt that this was too fast and too intimate and informed him that she was still not seeking a relationship such as this, and wished that they could continue on a less personal note. It began to dawn on her (and myself) that this young man had manipulated and controlled things to a degree, and now that she had flatly refused, albeit nicely, he seemed to become angry, telling her that she had insulted and hurt him. This upset the young lady very much indeed, as she felt that she had been careful to do no wrong, and would never have wanted to hurt or insult anyone, more so him. I advised her to speak totally plainly, leaving no space for misunderstanding, cultural differences, language barrier etc etc - she did so and he told her that if she did not want to go along as he did, (which was obviously head long into a full on relationhip quick style, with all the risks coming from her) he would move on, he did not want to be friends, he would find some-one else. his has made her very sad, and me also, for both of them, but also for the wider picture. The young lady feels (wants to feel, chooses to feel) that he was genuine, but that because she couldnt/wouldnt return his love, so he had no option but to move on. I dont quite see it like that, but its her way of laccepting a lost friendship. I fully realise that every one that involves in internet chat, does so for a reason, and we all have different reasons. I feel sad that the young man wasted his time and effort, and sad that he feels a very strong need to find some-one (anyone?) that may be able to change his situation (he almost said as much), it is sad that there are so many people out there in need of much more than friendship, and willing to take risks that could creat a great deal of unhappihness, as i have no doubt that this young man will move on and find a lady that will return his love, and likely that will be an older lady with no ties, able to take risks, but i wonder where it will all end. When I was younger I had a few very good friends, muslims, okay a lot of years ago, living in London and Newcastle upon Tyne. I had a best friend from Libya, a friend from Tunisia and 2 friends from Algeria. I found them to be open, honest, good pals, really likeable, very interesting and very intelligent. My libyan friend married a british woman and paid a terrible price, she was awful, she broke him,and it broke me to see this. I now have no contact with any of these friends, i hope they are all well, especially my libyan friend, and i hope he left that horrid woman behind. So i can/do see things from both sides. Has anyone any comments,?.

I just had to let every1 of you know about my friend, she was married here in Tunisia on 3 October, she applied for her husbands setllement visa on 23 october and guess what???? he was called on the 4th day to go to the Embassy on the 5th day and his visa was granted!!!! I jus cant believe this it really does appear that the embassy are now pulling up their socks and giving out decisions quickley... I just hope this happens for me when I apply for mine :o

Hi every1 hope you are all in good health, well I have finally had to make the decision to give up my english cafe here in Tunisia and move back to england. My family matters at home in the UK are needing a lot of attention now and I cannot stay here any longer. So me and my fiance will soon to be married and make a start on the settlement visa process, I am so sad to be leaving Tunisia and the business that I put all my heart into, but I have no other choice. So basically I am just wondering if any of you girls or if you know anybody that is wanting to set up an english cafe in skanes monastir, there is one going for a really good price including all appliances and loads of english goodies that u cannot get here in monastir. Hi everyone,

I have few questions to ask. I am leaving for the island of Djerba for a period of 5 days/5 nights. I will be landing in the Djerba Zarzis Airport.

1)Is there any telephone number that you can use to call a taxi? Is the taxi service available all times from morning till night?
2)Can euros be exchanged at this airport for local tunisian dinars? Do any of the shops or taxis or Hotels accept money in euros for payment?
3)How much dinars is normally required for daily expenses(transportation/buying souveniers) for a single person? My accomodation and food is already taken careof by the hotel in which I am staying?
4)Where do you recommend to get souveniers in Djerba?
5)Also so far I have not been able to find a decent map for the island of Djerba? Is it available at the airport?
6)Is there any emergency numbers in Tunisia to call for in case of emergencies like doctor or say police etc..?
