Here’s a shocking alert coming from Bollywood. News has it that superstar Shah Rukh Khan allegedly beat up filmmaker Shirish Kunder at a party hosted by actor Sanjay Dutt last night.

There were feelers aplenty about SRK’s growing bitterness for Farah Khan, and this incident has put a stamp on what was first believed to be rumours.

Talking to the media, choreographer-cum-director wife of Shirish, Farah Khan said, “Shirish, my husband, was beaten up by Shah Rukh and his three bodyguards in Sanjay Dutt`s party. Shah Rukh asked Shirish why he had tweeted against him... There was no provocation from our side. He had screamed at Shirish telling him that he would destroy me as well.”

Reportedly, SRK pulled Shirish`s hair and abused him. Shirish`s tweets about `RA.One` had upset SRK and he apparently lashed out at the party last night.

Buzz has it that Sanju tried to settle the matter and calm them down and eventually got into the brawl.

Farah Khan said that SRK once told her not to resort to violence, and she`s shocked to see SRK act in this way.

However, SRK while talking to a news channel denied assaulting Shirish but admitted that they had disagreement over some issue.

Poonam Pandey to get dirtier than Vidya Balan!

Sultry siren Poonam Pandey seems hell bent on making it big in B-Town. The Internet sensation, who recently revealed that she would soon be seen in a Bollywood film confessed that it’s only A-listers that she would ever like to work with, in the industry.

When reporters quizzed the girl about her choice of co-star, Poonam said, “I will love to do a film with `Rockstar` Ranbir Kapoor”.

The girl is known for her cheeky statements and this time too she chose to be her real self. She said, “I promise to get dirtier than Vidya Balan in The Dirty Picture," she laughs.

Further adding, the hottie said, “I don`t think there is any bikini left in the world that I haven`t worn. I can even shop in a bikini and, of course, if the role demands it, I will wear one too. I want to do something no one in the industry has ever done before.”

On being asked about competition from international model-turned-actors such as Angela Johnson, Amy Jackson and Lisa Haydon, a confident Poonam said, “These are all firangi faces and they are clearly not my competition. I am not making these statements because I am overconfident, but because I know that no one can compete with me.”

Now, that’s a bold statement.

Ranbir, Vidya best actors at 57th Filmfare awards!

Vidya Balan, who painted `The Dirty Picture` in Bollywood last year, and `Rockstar` Ranbir Kapoor picked the best actor trophies at the annual Filmfare awards ceremony here, while `Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara` bagged the best film honour.

It was a double whammy for Zoya Akhtar and Ranbir, as the former took home the best director award for "Zindagi...", while the latter was named the best actor in the critics` choice as well.

Priyanka Chopra won the best actress (critics` choice) for her portrayal of a woman who kills her seven husbands in "7 Khoon Maaf".

Farhan Akhtar picked the best dialogue award for his snazzy writing for "Zindagi..."

The 57th Filmfare awards ceremony was held in Film City here Sunday night.

Riteish Says : Genelia Not Putting Acting On Hold After Marriage

Actor Riteish Deshmukh, who is all set to tie the knot with actress Genelia D’Souza on February 3, says Genelia will continue to act post marriage.

The couple met on the sets of ‘Tujhe Meri Kasam’ nine years ago and they will be acknowledged as a married couple in a high profile wedding with Bollywood stars in attendance.

“Well, I don’t think there is any reason why Genelia would have to put her acting assignments on hold. It is entirely her call on how she wants to work in years to come

She is an experienced person and professional, she can make her own decisions,” Riteish told PTI. Refusing to divulge more details about the D-day, the 33-year-old actor said he was always tight-lipped about his relationship with Genelia.

“Both of us have been very private about our relationship. We are talking about marriage because it is happening within a week from now, otherwise you wouldn’t have ever seen me discussing my personal matters

“Even though we have decided to speak out now, we aren’t very comfortable sharing the most minute details since that is a very private affair,” the actor said.

Apart from the wedding, Riteish is also busy promoting his forthcoming film ‘Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya’ with his lady love that will hit theatres on February 24.

“I have been very busy. I am promoting my film ‘Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya’ and also dubbing for ‘Housefull 2’. Then I am also playing in Celebrity Cricket League (CCL). To top it up, there are wedding preparation and other plans as well,” he said.

Riteish says the release of his film and marriage in the same month are merely a coincidence. “Everything has its deadline, whether it is a personal or a professional event. Things are set and planned for a long time.

If you look at it this way, even though marriage and my film are coming in the same month, CCL was always planned for the same month as well. It is plain coincidence that everything has come together now.”

Starting his career with a romantic film, Riteish shifted towards comedy immediately when his first film bombed at the box-office. After a gap of nine years, he will be seen again romancing Genelia in the filmmaker Mandeep Kumar’s film.

The actor is currently busy with the sequels of ‘Housefull’ and ‘Kya kool Hai hum’.

Shahrukh down with cold and flu!

Rehearsals for Filmfare award function have taken a toll on Shah Rukh Khan’s health. The superstar isn’t keeping well since few hours and reveals about his bad health on the micro-blogging site Twitter.

“Damn cold and fever winning the battle, slowly taking over my robust pathan constitution. Cigarette tasting bad in mouth now...this is serious (sic),” tweets SRK.

He goes on to add, “Explaining life to kids is tough enuff....explaining death extremely painful. Son and I being grown up. And I’m falling sick...throat hurting (sic).”

But, looking at the zeal with which he is gearing up for Filmfare award function, it is very unlikely that poor health conditions will keep him low and away from giving a power-packed performance.

‘Agneepath’ nets Rs 25 crore on opening day!

Bollywood is all set to ring in its first blockbuster of the year. Yes, Hrithik Roshan-Sanjay Dutt starrer ‘Agneepath’ has taken the Box Office by storm.

Apprently, ‘Agneepath’ has broken Salman Khan’s ‘Bodyguard’ record by making Rs 25 crore on the first day of its release. Priyanka Chopra recently tweeted, “Yay thank u everyone! #agneepath day one 25cr ! Unprecedented! Feels sooo awesome! Team agneepath u rock!(sic)”

Karan Johar’s ‘Agneepath’ is the remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s cult film by the same name, where Big B essayed the role of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan. In Karan’s remake, Vijay Dinanath Chauhan (Hrithik Roshan) takes on drug lord Kancha Cheena (Sanjay Dutt) to avenge the death of his father and restore his family honour.

Talking to a daily about the instant success of ‘Agneepath,’ trade analyst Taran Adarsh said, “‘Agneepath’ opening: Not just Hrithik’s biggest opener, but also amongst the biggest opener of all times. It should have a record Day 1 collection.”

“The audience response to the film has been extraordinary, we are now hopeful that this film will compensate for the losses we incurred in the first three weeks,” said an exhibitioner.

Buzz had it that the first day collections of ‘Agneepath’ will touch anywhere around Rs 20 crore. “The film’s first day collection could easily be between 19-20 crores. True to its title, ‘Agneepath’ has taken a fiery start. It is a superb Republic Day gift by Karan Johar to the public!” said trade analyst Komal Nahata.

Well, it seems we have a clear winner here!

Kareena Kapoor has reportedly ordered a royal piece of jewellery worth around 40 lakh rupees for her wedding to Saif Ali Khan.

According to the reports, the neckpiece will be a full-dress set, implying that it would run from the neck to the waist.

These kinds of exclusive jewellery pieces are worn at royal weddings.

Apparently, a Rajkot-based Jeweller has been assigned the task to create this royal set for Kapoor.

Made with 400 gm gold, the necklace will have expensive gems studded on it, and will take nearly two months to make because of the craftsmanship and painstaking handwork involved.

Meanwhile, Saif is said to be planning to give a big diamond ring to his bride-to-be as the wedding gift.

Agneepath – No Fire in This One

Agneepath, Agneepath…! The lines from the famous poem written by the late Harivanshrai Bachchan, the father of the “Superstar of the Millennium”, Amitabh Bachchan. Agneepath – the first film to come out of Dharma Productions, the film that fetched Amitabh Bachchan his first and only National Award, the film, which over the years has achieved a cult status, thanks to the Superstar’s fabulous portrayal of “Vijay Dinanath Chavan”, aye!

It was Yash Johar who produced this film in 1990 with the creative Mukul S. Anand at the helm. 22 years later, it is his son Karan Johar who remakes this film with the debutante director Karan Malhotra. So, how good is this attempt? Let me remind you that the original Agneepath didn’t fetch many rewards but awards.

First things first, this film is not a scene-to-scene remake of the original. Not all the original characters are reatined, and director Karan Malhotra reworked on the original script to cater to the audiences of 2012. And to be honest, the script actually falls flat, and leaves the audience with an incomplete experience.

The Story

Agneepath is a revenge drama. Vijay Dinanath Chavan, son of Master Dinanath Chavan are a happy family (including his mother) residing in Mandva, a small island, a little distance away from Mumbai. Master Dinanath is a well respected person in the village, as he works for the welfare of its residents by producing salt. Enters Kancha Cheena, son of the Zameendar of Mandva, who not only has an evil look but also evil ideas. Kancha finds out that the soil of Mandva is fertile enough to grow cocaine. So, he lures the villagers to submit their lands on a lease basis to him for he would set up a salt factory, and the villagers would profit from the factory. Master Dinanath, tells the villagers to not submit their lands to Kancha, for they could permanently lose them. Kancha plots an evil plan to get rid of Master Dinanath and eventually kills him with the little Vijay watching him. Vijay and his mother leave Mandva and come to Mumbai, and all Vijay wants now is to avenge his father’s death. The rest of the story is how gets his revenge over Kancha.

Performances

Hrithik Roshan as Vijay Dinanath Chavan is good, though not great. The director failed to extract the intensity that the character demands. Although I hate to compare his performance with Amitabh’s in the original, I would have to say the emotions that Amitabh portrayed in his character are missing in the adaptation. But nevertheless, Hrithik gives a wholehearted performance.

Sanjay Dutt as Kancha Cheena looks frightening for sure. But, his performance is somehow incomplete. Although he utters a few funny lines in pure Hindi, his characterization is flawed. Though he is a perfect match to Hrithik, as far as their muscles go, performance wise, the audience are left wanting.

Rishi Kapoor as Rauf Lala, well he is the surprise package! We all adore Rishi Kapoor for his acting skills but, in this one he plays a perfect bad guy and he just excels in this role of the ‘kasai’, and we are just going to end up admiring his acting skills even more. If for anything, you would have to watch Agneepath just for his performance.

Priyanka Chopra, who plays Kali doesn’t have a substantial role but plays her part with ease. Zarina Wahab as Hrithik’s mother is OK. Arish Bhiwandiwala, the boy who played the little Vijay Dinanath Chavan is very good. Om Puri as commisioner Gaitonde is fabulous.

Music doesn’t have a big part to play in the film. Although the background score by Ajay-Atul suits the bill. Cinematography by Kiran Deohans and Ravi K.Chandran is very good. Editing could have been a bit crispier as the runtime of the film is a little long. Screenplay by Karan Malhotra and Ila Dutta Bedi could have been better. Nothing new in the action department by Abbas Ali Moghul. Dialogues by Piyush Mishra need a special mention. The production values are very good.

This Agneepath has a couple of good performances by Hrithik and Rishi Kapoor that will leave the audiences awestruck, but the film falls flat as far as the content is concerned. The high that the original hits with regards to its emotions are amiss in the adaptation. But this one is going to be a money spinner for sure, thanks to the extensive promotion and ‘Chikni Chameli’.

A one-time watch, and do not go wanting to watch Big B reincarnated.

Catch the first trailer of Aamir Khan’s film ‘Talaash’. It simply gets you hooked to the screen.

Aamir looks smashing as a cop. Kareena is seen decked up in mini skirts, playing an escort girl while Rani on the other hand, looks all haggard, worried and depressed.

From the trailer, what we can see is that, Aamir gets into a deep investigation in search of truth. The actor is seen interrogating prostitutes, diving underwater and gunning down hoodlums.

The film is a psychological thriller written and directed by Reema Kagti. It is slated to release on June 1, 2012.

Looks like 2011 belonged to Vidya Balan and Ranbir Kapoor. After winning the best actor (Male & Female) award at the 18th Colors Screen Awards, both, Vidya and Ranbir went on to grab the Best Actor tittle, once again at the Apsara Awards, on Wednesday night.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara fetched Zoya Akhtar the Best Director trophy as well as the Best Film trophy.

The evening was a grand show, having Shahrukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Amisha Patel, Ritesh Deshmukh and Genelia, groove to some of the popular hits.

The award function was hosted by Farah Khan and Karan Johar.

After a slew of fake posters the first official digital poster of Aamir Khan's Talaash has been released. Salman Khan surely did start a new trend in Bollywood.

Talaash is a collaboration between Reliance Entertainment, Excel Entertainment and Aamir Khan Production and brings together Farhan Akhtar and Aamir Khan for the first time since 'Dil Chahta Hai'. The movie stars Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee are the two lead heroines of the film.

With the tagline - the answer lies within - the poster shows Aamir Khan in a moustached look. Prior to the launch of this digital poster a number of fake posters of Talaash were being circulated, and an online agency has been put on to the job to figure out the origin of the fake posters.

Dhanush stars in a Bollywood film!

Dhanush signs his first Bollywood film

The Tamil movie star and a National Award winner, Dhanush, signs his first Bollywood film to be directed by Aanand L Rai of Tanu Weds Manu fame. After Dhanush’s Kolaveri Di became a nation-wide rage, the actor was keen on venturing into Bollywood.

For the past six months, the director Aanand L Rai was in search of a simple, ordinary boy to play the main lead in his film which is titled Raanjhnaa. How Dhanush came in the scenario? Actually Aanand saw his Tamil film Aadukalam, for which Dhanush even won a National award.

“When I saw Dhanush in the Tamil film Aadukalam, I liked him immediately. He looks very ordinary and honest, and that was the demand of the character,” says the director. Dhanush liked the script of Raanjhnaa and has started working on it. However, there is another reason for Dhanush to work with Aanand. The Tamil star liked the fact that Aanand wanted him in the film even before Kolaveri Di happened.

Surprisingly, the actor has also found an interesting way to learn Hindi. According to Dhanush, the problem is not the language, it’s the culture. The actor says he will learn the culture and the language will come automatically.

Like Tanu Weds Manu, the movie Raanjhnaa is also a love story and though the film is set against the backdrop of the holy city Banaras, the film and its characters will take the audiences to Delhi, Punjab, Chennai, etc.

Aamir to catch the makers of the fake posters of 'Talaash'!

One can’t deny that Aamir Khan’s film Talaash is one of the most awaited films of the year 2012. The buzz surrounding the film is also tremendous as there is not one but three fake posters of the film doing the rounds on the internet. These fake posters not only feature Aamir in his moustached look, but also the two lead heroines of the film, Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee.

It’s heard that the perfectionist Aamir Khan is worried by the fake posters of Talaash that are now available on various sites and blogs. Since a good number of fake posters have been going around under the film’s name, Aamir has hired a specialized US-based foreign cyber agency to investigate the matter. The star, who plays a cop in the film, is apparently quite annoyed with these posters, and the creators of them.

Aamir Khan’s spokesperson also confirmed this to a daily, “We are all concerned about these fake posters. Yes, an online agency has been put on to the job of fact-finding.” He also clarified that the fake posters on the net are not even remotely close to the actual designs.

Sonakshi Sinha, who is presently in Kolkata to shoot for Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane’s ‘Lootera’ seems to be going the Vidya Balan way. This can be said going by her look in the movie, which is that of a desi Bengali babe. For Vidya, who tried this look early in her film career (in Parineeta), it worked like a charm as she was stormed with compliments.

Bollywood actors Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza are all set to stage their real life love story at an awards function here soon.

The duo, who have been dating since eight years, will be tying the knot on February 3.

The couple, which was secretive about their relationship all this time, will be performing together at the Apsara Awards.

The buzz is that the couple’s act on stage has a wedding theme with a ‘band baaja baaraat’ happening in presence of entire film fraternity.

“The performance will emulate the story of their meeting and the romantic journey that has brought them to this juncture. The romance will unfold at the Apsara Awards,” sources said.

They will be performing for the awards event on Wednesday at the Yash Raj Studios.

Actor Shahid Kapoor, who would be sharing screen space with rumoured girlfriend Priyanka Chopra, says that they share a good chemistry.

Since the two acted together in ‘Kaminey’, there are rumours that Shahid and Priyanka are seeing each other.

They would be seen next in Kunal Kohli’s period love story that releases on June 22.

“It is great to work with Priyanka, she is a good actor...a fun co-star. We share good chemistry and I enjoy working with her,” Shahid told reporters here, at an event.

About the film, Shahid said, “It is bit premature to talk about it. I would say it is a film spread over three different time periods, it is romantic comedy. I cannot speak much about the film.”

Its the wedding season in Bollywood and actor Shahid Kapoor, who has made himself “available” for marriage, feels that the institution brings in lot of confidence and a sense of stability.

In Bollywood, married actors like Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Hrithik Roshan and others have done well at the box office, giving tough competition to singletons like Shahid, Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh.

On married actors being successful in Bollywood, Shahid says, “I agree that most of our superstars in the industry are married...are successful. But again it (being successful) is not so much related to whether you are married or not. It takes certain amount of time to establish yourself as an actor. Usually to reach there you need the support of somebody who loves you, takes care of you.”

“And so you end up getting married and settling down. It (marriage) gives you a lot of confidence and certain sense of stability. So I think it is beautiful if your partner is with you on your journey in life... if you have somebody to share your success it is great,” he said.

Shahid also said he is available for tying the knot.

“Are you trying to say that if I get married I will be more successful? I am available and koi bhi achi ladki chahe toh...(If any of the good girls want)... I am available. I don’t have any reservations for marriage,” he chuckled, burrying rumours of his on-off relationship with co-star Priyanka Chopra.

The 30-year-old was dating Kareena Kapoor when they started filming for Ken Ghosh’s 2004 film ‘Fida’. They were going steady until they separated during the making of ‘Jab We Met’ in 2007.

Since then, he has been linked with Vidya Balan, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma and Bipasha Basu. But he has never admitted to dating any of these beauties.

New Vande Mataram Album Launched....

To mark India’s 63rd Republic day, 21 eminent singers and musicians have lent their voice to a new rendition of India’s national song ‘Vande Mataram’ composed by percussionist Bickram Ghosh.

The new version of the song, originally penned by Bankimchandra Chatterji in 1882, features vocals by Sonu Niigaam, Shankar Mahadevan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shubha Mudgal, Roop Kumar Rathod, Mahalakshmi Iyer, Indian Ocean and Palash Sen jamming together in a video.

“My version of Vande Mataram is introspective. It is the national song woven into a new melody after 64 years of Independence. It’s a sojourn of all these years. I have created a fusion of contemporary and ethnic India through this song,” Ghosh said at the launch of the album ‘Vande Mataram’ here.

The six-minute-long video begins with a classical note by Niigaam and after capturing various folk notes it finally enters into the rock mode performed by the band Indian Ocean.

“The song is basically divided into three sections - Bollywood, classical and rock. The number tried to cover the whole spectrum of music in our country,” said Niigam, who has sang many patriotic numbers in the past.

The video will be played across all the 60 airports of the country on Republic Day and will also be telecast on various news channels.

Shot by Girish Malik, the video beautifully juxtaposes the age-old traditions with modern thoughts.

“I have intentionally captured the quotation ‘India is hot’ written near a spice factory of Rajasthan to bring the original India to the viewers. These punch lines such as ‘Bharat cool hai’ and many more have become a part of our life,” said Malik.

And finally we present you the first trailer of one of the most awaited films of 2012, Agent Vinod. The film stars Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the lead. The first look surely looks promising.

What we could figure out from the trailer is that Saif falls prey to different situations and in every situation, the one and only thing that his captor seems interested in is, his identity. Kareena’s role in the trailer is not very clear.

However, the actress is seen questioning Saif on his identity, too.

The film promises a lot of action and we hear that Bebo too will be seen doing a few stunts here and there.

Agent Vinod is a spy thriller shot in Mumbai, Morocco and Latvia. Directed by Sriram Raghavan and produced by Saif and his partner Dinesh Vijan, the film is slated to release on March 23, 2012.

Former Miss Universe, Lara Dutta, has been blessed with a baby girl. The 33-year-old actor, who is married to ace tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi, gave birth to a healthy child. The couple has named the little one Saira Bhupathi.

Earlier, in an interview given to a daily, Mahesh had said that he always prayed for a baby girl and his wish is finally granted.

Lara recently met International chat show host Oprah Winfrey and tweeted, "@Oprah and @iamsrk, two people I absolutely adore! Thank you for making my day! Now can go into labour happily! :) (sic).”

Lara and Mahesh got married on February 16, 2011.

Vidya Balan and Siddharth Roy Kapoor were spotted arriving together at Sahar airport around 1 am on Thursday.

Vids tried her best to hide from the photographer while in the car. As soon as Vids stepped out, Sid zoomed away.

He was there to see his lady love off who was enroute to Macau for an awards ceremony.

Barely 10 minutes later, Shahid Kapoor arrived, as he was also enroute to the same destination.

The ex-flames had just avoided having a run in. Wonder what happened on the flight. Tee hee!

While one speculates about the alleged marriage of John Abraham with banker girlfriend Priya Runchal, rumours suggest that the much in love couple plans to solemnise their relationship very soon.

Bollywood siren Mallika Sherawat has been voted the hottest female vegetarian celebrity in a poll by People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). South star Dhanush of ‘Kolaveri Di’ fame has been named the hottest male vegan.

The 'Hottest Vegetarian Celebrities 2011' poll by PETA saw Mallika Sherawat and Dhanush chosen over the other hot favourites like Sonu Sood, Amitabh Bachchan and Vidya Balan.

“Thousands of people cast their votes to help PETA India determine the Hottest Vegetarian Celebrities of 2011, and Dhanush and Mallika Sherawat have been declared the winners,” PETA said in a press release.

Mallika said about her being a vegan: “If I had to pick the very best thing about being vegan, it's my clear conscience.”

Dhanush, who shot to national fame with his chirpy video ‘Why This Kolaveri Di’ was quoted as saying he felt light and healthy being vegetarian.

“There's nothing sexier than someone who exudes passion and compassion - and our winners have plenty of both,” PETA India's chief functionary, Poorva Joshipura, said.

The winners were chosen by PETA India on the basis of the total number of votes each celebrity received, each celebrity's potential to reach a large audience and PETA India's assessment of each celebrity's attractiveness.
