Matthew Bedikian joins Trott as an attorney in the title department, concentrating his practice in the area of real estate law. Prior to joining Trott, he served as a law clerk with the Michigan Bureau of Employment Relations, where he focused his practice in the areas of labor and employment law.

Jennifer Burnett joins Trott as a litigation attorney concentrating her practice on all litigation pertaining to residential mortgage foreclosure and lending. Ms. Burnett earned her Bachelor of Arts degree magna cum laude from Western Michigan University and her Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School. Prior to joining the firm, she served as a law clerk with Detroit-based Huth Lynett, focusing her practice in the area of commercial real estate litigation.

Also joining Trott as a litigation attorney, Brett Mellin concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate, lending and foreclosure law. Mr. Mellin is a graduate of Michigan State University and earned his Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School. He formerly served as a law clerk in Trott’s title department, focusing his practice in the area of foreclosure law.

Melissa Schmitz joins Trott as a litigation attorney concentrating her practice in the areas of title and foreclosure. Ms. Schmitz received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan Flint and her Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School. Prior to joining the firm’s litigation department, she served as a law clerk in the firm’s foreclosure title review department.

Joining Trott’s litigation team, Ian Redmond concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial litigation, real estate and business litigation. Mr. Redmond earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Dallas and his Juris Doctor from Notre Dame Law School. The DRMM is committed to the success, livelihood and sustainability of Greater Detroit and the community. The DRMM has identified a positive way to help those who are seeking training, jobs and, most importantly, a self-sufficient opportunity to bring income to the area.

(Trott), a Farmington Hills, Mich.-based law firm serving the mortgage banking industry, joined with NDeX Michigan (NDeX), a leading provider of technology and processing services for law firms nationwide, to support Mittens for Detroit during their winter charity initiative.

Mittens for Detroit is a community nonprofit organization that was established with the sole purpose of collecting and distributing new gloves and mittens to those in need—both children and adults—throughout metropolitan Detroit.

Trott and NDeX employees were offered casual time in exchange for contributing funds or a minimum of five new pairs of mittens or gloves during the months of November and December. In total, employees from both companies donated more than 360 pairs of mittens and gloves, and $2,300 to the cause. The companies also matched their employees’ donations with a gift of $4,100, bringing the total monetary donation to $6,400.

As a board member, Mr. Trott, in conjunction with the other four members, will be responsible for overseeing the State Building Authority, which issues and sells bonds and notes to acquire equipment and construct facilities.

A 1981 graduate of the University of Michigan, Mr. Trott earned his Juris Doctor from the Duke University School of Law in 1985. From 2002-2004, he served as the president of USFN. A frequent speaker and published author, David was also a recipient of the Michigan Mortgage Lenders Association’s highest award, the James T. Barnes Memorial Award. He also serves on the Board of the University of Michigan in Washington, Detroit Country Day School Board of Trustees and the Karmanos Cancer Institute Board of Directors.

Mr. Trott will replace former board member Dawn Batts, and will serve a four-year term expiring August 21, 2015.

The companies also matched their employees’ donations with a gift of $5,000, bringing the total monetary donation to $9,725.

“This summer we added an additional volunteer date as a result of our employees’ overwhelming enthusiasm to give back,” said Trott. “Our companies are committed to helping the community in every way possible and it’s encouraging to see our employees stand behind our involvement which each organization.”

In a continuance of their yearlong corporate giving campaign, Trott and NDeX will join together again this fall to support Inkster-based Starfish Family Services during the months of September and October.

The Farmington Hills Relay For Life took place from Saturday, May 21, at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, May 22, at 10:00 a.m. in Shiawassee Park. More than 50 employees and guests from Trott and NDeX participated on “The TFC Trotters” Relay For Life team, each donating a minimum of four hours of their time to walk in the relay.

Throughout the spring, the TFC Trotters organized several initiatives to raise money for their relay team. From March 1 through May 22, Trott and NDeX collected “Casual Dress Dollars” and other financial contributions from co-workers, hosted a charity bowling event and sold luminaries that were lit during the Relay’s luminary walk to honor past and present cancer patients and survivors.

Together, the effort of the two companies raised a grand total of more than $14,867 to benefit the American Cancer Society. “We are so proud of the giving hearts of our colleagues here,” Krug observed.

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. The event will kick off with an Earth Day Parade from the children at Bright Horizons, a community childcare facility with a location in the Trott Financial Center.
