We have started to use the signing language during our everyday practice to support spoken language, not replace it.  The children have been responding with great levels of interest and have been using signing at Tree House and at home already!

The visual set of simple STC signs are designed to be used at the same time as the verbal words to assist children with their own communication.

Nursery News

A big thank you for the Christmas cards and gifts we received, we hope you all had a lovely Christmas.  The Pre-School Christmas party was great fun, the children loved watching Wotty the magician and Father Christmas visiting Tree House was very exciting.

Congratulations to Sam on the arrival of Baby Reece.

Mindi is due to return on 6^th March following her maternity leave. You may have noticed a new friendly face at the Little End – “Kay”. She has joined the Tree House team temporarily to help until all our ladies with babies return.

We will be collecting Tesco & Sainsbury’s vouchers when they start handing them out again this year.

We are struggling to match items of clothing back to the correct owners – especially when we have numerous identical coats or pairs of shoes!! Please put children’s names in their clothing, in particular hats, coats, jumpers, shoes & comforters.

We are pleased to mention that the pot holes on the entrance road have been repaired.  We understand that this has been an on going problem, but Tree House Nursery does not own the private track so we have made improvements to the damaged areas.  Please continue to drive with care and pay close attention to your speed.

It is really helpful if your child’s bag is well stocked with spare clothes, socks and pants. We do have some spare clothing at Nursery for emergencies. If you have borrowed any nursery clothing in the past please return it.

New Chip and Pin Payment System

We are hoping to introduce the equipment to allow you to pay your monthly invoice by debit or credit card.  This service should be available to use in the next couple of weeks.  We would prefer you to use this method rather than cheques if you can.

New Parents/Carers

Welcome to all our new children and parents/carers.  We hope your child settles well at Tree House.  Please remember our open door policy at Nursery.  Our members of staff are happy to discuss any concerns you may have.

We use a ‘previous accident/incident form’, this ensures that we are working in line with current child protection guidelines. So if your child has occurred a serious burn, bruises etc whilst under your care – Please notify a member of staff and then we will make a record of this incident. If a member of staff notices a major injury they will record it and ask for your assistance with this.

Nursery News

A big welcome to all the children, parents and carers who have joined us this Autumn. The children who have moved up to Pre School have settled really well this year. We have an open door policy at Nursery and our members of staff are happy to discuss any concerns you may have.

Congratulations to Faye and Amy P/B on the safe arrivals of baby Austin and baby Lola. Sammi is due to go on maternity leave soon. Her last day will be 28th October. Hopefully she will have a little rest before the baby arrives, unlike Amy - whose baby arrived a month early!

Amy Jordan is covering the position of Little End Team Leader whilst Amy is on Maternity leave.

Photographer visiting Nursery

Concept Photography will be visiting Tuesday 25^th October. If your child does not attend on the day, you are welcome to arrange an individual appointment with us for you to bring your child in for the photo shoot.

Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child is the Christmas project which sends gifts and goodies to children who need them most in some of the toughest parts of the world. The deadline for the shoe box collection at Nursery is Friday 21^st October. Thank you for all the completed shoe boxes, if you are planning to bring in a gift or box please do so in time for them to be sent away. We would appreciate any hats, gloves, scarves and toiletries to add to the boxes we have created with the children.

The One-Way system is working well

For all our new Parents/Carers - this only applies to Parents/Collectors who pick up children from both ends of the Nursery. Please enter the building using the Little–End door and collect younger children and belongings first and then go down to Pre-School to collect additional children. We are enforcing this flow of people traffic at the end of the day for the safety of all children at this busy time of the day.

Forest School

Alicia is currently completing her Forest School Training at Bridgewater. Alicia will be sharing new ideas with all members of staff and we will be including it in our planning. This exciting course allows Tree House children to develop their connection with nature and the outdoor environment a step further.

Nursery payment

Please follow our fee policy and pay for your child’s Nursery fees within 7 days of receiving your invoice. Invoices are ready to collect at on the 1^st of every month.

Little End Family Board

If you haven’t yet brought in any family photos to be displayed, and you would like to – please do. It’s great for the children to see photographs displayed of their favourite people.

Dates for your diary

1. Halloween week 24^th- 31^st October, if your child would like to dress up that would be great to see. (Please note: Tuesday of this week will be Photographer day so please supply a change of clothing unless you were planning on Halloween themed photos!) We will try and face paint the children on some days. If you have any objections please speak to a member of staff.
2. Wells Carnival – Friday 11^th November. Please remember that we close at 5pm, rather than the normal 6pm, due to carnival traffic. Please make sure you make any alternative collection arrangements to ensure that your child is collected by 5pm.
3. Christmas Shutdown – Last day open Friday 23^rd December 2011. We Re-open on Tuesday 3rd January 2012.

Remember that the morning session ends at 12pm, and the morning and lunch session ends at 1.30pm

Pre School children do not need to wear slippers at Nursery. It helps the children during free play if they are wearing outdoor shoes so they can choose to play inside and outside.

Please label your child’s comforters and all clothing. We have lots of identical and similar items, Thank you.

JUNE NEWSLETTER

Nursery News

Welcome to all our new children and parents/carers. We hope your child settles well at Tree House. The transition period is going smoothly from Little-End to Pre-School. Please remember our open door policy at Nursery. Our members of staff are happy to discuss any concerns you may have.

Sainsbury’s and Tesco’s voucher collections have gone really well, thanks for all your support with this, we are planning to get some great new scooters! Please bring in any remaining vouchers before we send them off at the end of this month.

A big welcome to two new members of staff. Karen Tyson and Claire Sharp have joined our Little–End team, they are both experienced Nursery Nurses and Claire is Sam’s sister.

Faye and Amy P/B are due to go on maternity leave soon. Faye’s last day will be 6^th July and Amy is planning to stay until 19^th August. They are both hoping to return after a little break.

New One-Way system for parents who collect children from both end’s of Nursery

We are introducing a one way system through the Nursery building at the end of the day. This only applies to Parents/Collectors who pick up children from both ends of the Nursery. Parents Evening

We are planning on having an interactive parents/carers evening on Thursday 28^th July (6.30-8.00). This will give you a chance to come and see what your child gets up to at Tree House. It is the ideal time to speak to your child’s key person and discuss their progress as well as look at their folders. This evening is not compulsory, but we welcome all parents and carers. Please let us know if you can make it to this evening (no children please!). If your child is moving up to Pre-School this is also an opportunity to meet the staff.

The children will also be having little assessments around the end of July. The children that are leaving us to start school will have transfer forms at the end of June.

Eco Cards

Soon you should receive your child’s Eco-Card design. If you would like to order any packs of cards please return your order to Nursery as soon as possible.

· Let a member of staff know if you need to change or increase your child’s Nursery sessions as soon as you know, to stop any disappointment if we can’t help

The safety of all children is paramount. Please make sure you keep your speed to an absolute minimum when driving in and out of the nursery.

Just a quick reminder to let you know that Tree House Day Nursery will be hosting our annual Parents/Carers Evening this Thursday 28th July 6.30-8pm.  Childrens folders will be available to look at, and staff will be happy to discuss your childs progress with you. Annual reports will be ready to read in September.  Don’t worry if you cannot attend this evening, you are very welcome to borrow your child’s folder and discuss progress with your childs key person another time.

We have already had enquiries from parents so please note Tree House is OPEN that day.

Driving conditions on site are poor, so little gate opposite the golf club is open.Our neighbours are kindly allowing pedestrian access  from the main road.
