Goodbye

A very sad announcement today - for various reasons EDM Intercontinental is closing its doors.

It's a legacy going back to the rough and ready days of April 2009, beginning life as Trance Intercontinental. Mostly fuelled by the wonderful #trancefamily the podcast grew a substantial following, with regular #ASOTafterparty live sets straight after ASOT on a Thursday.

In July 2009 we began doing reviews with the aid of volunteer writers from the #trancefamily. Thanks to AstroGirl, Endoril and Sam Hughes for your contributions.

The megamix craziness that was the Bass Monkey's series landed in August of 2009, causing quite a stir - mashing up 60+ tunes in an hour long megamix extravaganza, covering all genres and getting more intense as the series progressed.

We also ran a number of live events, namely #chroma on the 24th July 2010 which ran for 9hrs with various guest DJ's and have had a fair few guestmixes on the show itself over the years.

In November 2010 the podcast rebranded as EDM Intercontinental, offering a mix of trance on the Red Edition and Breaks, Dubstep, NuFunk & DnB on the Blue Edition - reflecting the way dancefloors were going at the time. The roots of course will always be in those early days, rocking out with the #trancefamily.

Very special thanks go to DJ Aspeth, DJ Oljick, Endoril, DJ Morex, DJ Andy Post and all the countless fans and people who made this crazy ride possible.

Well this is it folks. Over two years of the Red Edition and 25 episodes!

However... it will also be the last. Musical tastes change, and even DJs aren't immune. For me, Trance is now in my past and Dubstep, D&B and breaks are my future.

So with the death of the Red Edition, the Blue Edition will be my main focus and will be released as usual on the 30th of each month.

Don't despair though, the entire back catalogue is still around and can be found here.

Shed no tears Trance Intercontinental fans, we're back; bringing you more of the music you love (and a funky new design)!

The Red Edition will continue to bring you the finest in trance and progressive once a month, but for those with a certain taste for large basslines, funk and breaks it will soon have a new cousin - the Blue Edition!

You can expect to hear the latest and the greatest in the world of NuFunk, Dubstep, Drum & Bass, Electro and Breaks and everything inbetween - no holds barred!

To celebrate this momentus event there will be a Blue Edition launch party on the 20th November, get it locked in!

I hope you're as excited about this as I am, for those familiar with the Bass Monkeys series you will know I am no stranger to all things at the lower end of the Hz range and I look forward to sharing that with you once a month from now on!
