As for Fabio’s Favs, do you really want to see Beckham try and run round in another World Cup, Gerrard adding another undeserved cap to the 74 he already has or Heskey falling over with an open goal in front of him.

Remember ‘88, cruised through qualifying unbeaten, team of superstars, no contest, well they weren’t a contest for anyone in the group stage.

Thank you for including German artist Rio Reiser, who died on August 20, 1996, in your “Departures” section. You list him as a “singer,” however “singer/songwriter” would be much more accurate. He is one of the most important figures in post-War German popular music, and as both a composer and a performer his range extended from rock to folk to pop and beyond. His work has been covered in virtually every style, from jazz to neo-punk to easy listening. He remains very much missed.

It surprised me, too. The Are You Being Served? was so strong in the US that when the BBC made Grace and Favour, the Americans called it Are You Being Served … Again?. It appears on Twitter and other American services, one can use the f word, even in a user name, but a slightest mention of pussy, and they all go funny.

In fact, one can still search for #pussy on Twitter, just not Mrs Slocombe’s.
