Rio de Janeiro was officialy awarded the 2016 Olympic Games today over Tokyo, Chicago and Madrid. Congratulations to Rio for their succesful bid.

Harajuku Omotesando Parade

There was a parade held yesterday to show support for the Tokyo 2016 Olympic / Paralympic Games Bid. The Harajuku area was turned into a procession of color and music as the people of Tokyo got a glimpse of the festivities that might be awaiting them in 2016.

Tokyo 1964

With the race on to see which city will host the 2016 Olympic Games only 2 and a half weeks away, it is nice to look back on a historic race from the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games. There were some great moments! Does anyone remember this event?

Displayed at the Odaiba Big Site Exhibition Hall is a large clock showing the countdown to decision day in Copenhagen on October 2, 2009.

The Olympic countdown clock hits 21 days

Alongside the clock are some great drawings that have been done by Japanese kids. It looks like they have had some wonderful dreams of watching and maybe participating in the Olympic/Paralympic Games.

The official Tokyo 2016 Candidate City badge and logo

Many people have seen or heard about the lifesize Gundam RX78 model that has been built at Odaiba, Tokyo.

Recently, Gundam has been seen sporting a Tokyo 2016 Candidate City Bid sticker on his left shoulder.

As the clock counts down to the Bid decision, Gundam watches over Odaiba, which is planned to host the Beach Volleyball events at the 2016 Tokyo Games.
