The Tennessee Titans (1-6) travel west to play the San Francisco 49ers (3-4) Sunday at Candlestick Park (3:15 p.m. CST). The trip is a rare one for the Titans, who last played a regular season game at Candlestick Park on Oct. 3, 1999.

That game was the team’s first loss in a 13-win regular season. Since then, the Titans won the only other matchup, defeating the 49ers at LP Field on Nov. 27, 2005. For the first time, Jeff Fisher and Mike Singletary will face each other on opposite sidelines as head coaches. The two were a part of the same 1981 Chicago Bears draft class and remained teammates through the Bears’ 1985 Super Bowl Championship season. Singletary was named head coach of the 49ers midway through the 2008 season.

Sunday’s game will be televised regionally on CBS, including Nashville affiliate WTVF NewsChannel 5. Ian Eagle will handle play-by-play duties, while Rich Gannon will provide color commentary. The Titans Radio Network, including Nashville flagship 103.3-WKDF, will broadcast the game across the Mid-South with the “Voice of the Titans” Mike Keith, color commentator Frank Wycheck, sideline reporter Cody Allison and gameday host Larry Stone.

Fans are invited to join Titans Radio and Coors Light at the Crow’s Nest (2221 Bandywood Drive in Green Hills) to watch the game. Come out to meet Titans Cheerleaders, while enjoying drink specials and great food. Doors open at 11 a.m.

Chris Davis was grateful for a second chance with the Tennessee Titans, who re-signed him Tuesday with the possibilities of him having a hand in the return game. “I definitely think I left on bad terms. Everybody was still cool with me, but I did feel like I had some unfinished business,” Davis said. Davis was solidly in the mix for the Titans return job and playing time at wide receiver during OTAs and the early part of training camp. However, a hamstring injury in preseason, combined with a DUI arrest in August, led to his release.

The Titans are on a winning streak. One game, of course. Now that they have won a game, one of their best players seems to think that they can go on a much longer winning streak. Nine games long. That player is Chris Johnson, who says that there’s no doubt that the team has the talent to run the table.

“We really believe like we can, like we started off 10-0 last year, before we played Jacksonville, we sat down and was like we really feel like we can go 10-0 in these last 10 games,” Johnson said.

We shall see if the team can run the table. Here’s their schedule: at 49ers, vs. Bills, at Texans, vs. Cardinals, at Colts, vs. Rams, vs. Dolphins, vs. Chargers, at Seahawks.

My guess – 6-10.

Jeff Fisher said yesterday that he would announce his starter today, and that means if he wasn’t going to go with Kerry Collins, he would have said it yesterday. With that said, even today’s Tennessean reports today that the team is likely going to make the move to Vince Young;

Plenty of signs point to a switch from starter Kerry Collins to backup Vince Young, although Coach Jeff Fisher said he wouldn’t announce his decision until today, citing “competitive reasons.” Things were noticeably different on Wednesday, however, when the Titans got back to work after their bye week. For the first time this season, Collins and Young were off limits to reporters. So was offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger. Fisher is no longer giving Collins the ringing endorsement he issued each week during a 0-6 start. Everything seemed to change when Titans owner Bud Adams informed the coaching staff he wants Young to start, beginning with Sunday’s game. “I am not going to discuss the quarterback situation. I’ll have an answer (today),” said Fisher, indicating he hopes the Jaguars prepare for both. “I’m going to assume that as long as we can keep this thing a mystery the better chances we have. There’s clearly a difference in skill sets between the two quarterbacks. That’s obvious.”

Jeff Fisher knows he can’t keep the identity of his starting quarterback secret until kickoff Sunday even if he wants to. So the Tennessee coach is trying to keep it quiet for another 24 hours.

Fisher said Wednesday he will announce his starter Thursday, trying to carve out another day of competitive advantage for the winless Titans against Jacksonville (3-3).

“I’m going to assume that as long as we can keep this thing a mystery, the better chances we have. There’s clearly a difference in skill-sets between the two quarterbacks. That’s obvious,” Fisher said.

The coach stuck with Kerry Collins as his starter all season. But the Titans are 0-6, and owner Bud Adams reportedly wants to see Vince Young start Sunday.

Neither Collins nor Young spoke to reporters Wednesday, and offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger was not available to three reporters asking to speak to him after practice. The Titans signed John David Booty to the practice squad Wednesday, and he worked with the scout team.

There’s only so much more time for Jeff Fisher to push Kerry Collins at Titans fans as QB. The team has to figure out their future at the position, and they have to find out if Vince Young is ever going to be a solid QB again. With that, Titans owner Bud Adams says he wants Young to get a shot as the QB:

Titans owner Bud Adams wants Vince Young starting at quarterback beginning with Sunday’s game against the Jaguars. Following the 59-0 loss to the Patriots on Oct. 18 that dropped the Titans to 0-6, Adams told The Tennessean he’d made Coach Jeff Fisher aware of his desire to see Young play. In the past week the 86-year-old owner has been more direct, according to sources familiar with the situation. Adams wants the change now. At his weekly press conference earlier in the day, Fisher was non-committal when asked if Kerry Collins or Young would start this week.

Young seemed ineffective and disinterested in the time he played in the loss to the Pats two weeks ago. The Titans have the Jaguars next, and if they struggle, it could mean a shift at the QB spot as it could be the end of Collins if Adams has anything to say about it.

The Nashville Tennessean is reporting that defensive back Vincent Fuller has been practicing with the team while his broken arm heals. Fuller has been doing individual drills, worked on the scout team, and has kept his legs fresh by running with his teammates. Fuller is getting close to a return, and he should be ready to step right in since he has practiced over the last few weeks.
