When it comes to dressing for winter, it’s sometimes hard to figure out what’s nice to wear and what’s not. You want to be stylish, yet at the same time you don’t want to be too warm, or, even worse, freezing cold. No one wants to walk around wearing baggy sweatshirts, multiple layers of pants, or an ugly winter jacket just to stay warm, but sometimes that’s all a girl has! To help you make the most of what you have, here are five tips and ideas on how to use what you currently own and what you can invest in that will have you looking cute all winter long and for seasons to come!

1. The Basics

Layering tops is one of the most basic things a girl can do during the winter. Whether it’s wearing a t-shirt over a thermal top or a dolman top over a basic long sleeve shirt, layering can dress up any shirt you have. Wearing layers is great because it allows you to use what you have in your closet, without having to purchase extra items. If you don’t have any basic long sleeve shirts to wear, you can easily find them at Target, Walmart, and most department and specialty clothing stores. Another good thing about layering is that you can dress these shirts down with a pair of classic dark wash jeans and boots or you can dress them up even more with a pair of black or brown trousers and heels.

2. Coats

A warm coat is something every girl needs to look good while outside. Since a coat is the first thing most people see when out and about during the snowy months, it’s important to pick the right one. Here is a list of three different styles that have proven to be long lasting and classic fashion trends. These coats can make any girl look pretty (and feel nice and warm!) during winter.

Peacoat

The peacoat is such a classic; it never goes out of style. With various lengths and styles out there for girls to choose from, there is a coat for everyone! Peacoats are great to wear because they go with any kind of ensemble and they add the perfect hint of style when out on the town. Whatever the color or style you choose, these coats can dress any outfit up!

Trench Coat

A trench coat is great to have for formal occasions, whether it’s Christmas with the family, New Year’s Eve with friends, or even for work. When paired with a skirt or dress, the trench adds sex appeal, while when paired with a pair of dress pants or jeans, it adds sophistication. Wear a bright colored scarf underneath and you get the perfect pop of color!

Knit Coat

Knit coats are a great thing to have because they keep you warm and, like the trench and peacoat, there are several styles to choose from. These coats are light weight, but can keep you warm. These coats can easily dress anything up whether it’s those lazy sweatpants and hooded sweatshirt, casual denim jeans and sweater, or dress pants and dressy top.

3. Boots

Another simple way to add style and look cute this winter is with the boots you wear. When out on the town, it is great to wear classic black knee high boots. These boots go great with skinny jeans or dresses and help protect your feet from the elements. (One hint: if wearing a suede pair of boots, it is best to weather proof them so they don’t get damaged.) Another thing to note: all season winter boots never go out of style, especially when trudging through the newly fallen snow.

4. Cold Weather Accessories

Complete your look with cold weather accessories, such as a hat, gloves, mittens, or scarf. Adding the perfect scarf underneath a peacoat can give the perfect amount of color and style to your outer appearance. When considering what kind of accessories to complete your ensemble with, take a good look at what you’re wearing underneath the coat and what kind of coat you plan on wearing.

5. Sporty

For the girls who’d rather be on the mountain top skiing, snowboarding, or just having fun in the snow, rather than strutting around the city, here are a couple tips on how to look cute. One way to look great is to wear a quality puffer or down jacket. The less bulky the jacket, the more agility you will get when boarding or skiing. Also, when hitting the slopes, keep your eyes protected from the glare with a pair of high quality, glare free goggles.

This post was written by Kelsey Schultz from T-Shirts.com, where you can find cute women’s t-shirts for any season. Her #6 way to look great in the middle of winter is a large hot chocolate.

In both cases, products for hair care should be a must have in every women’s life.

A hair oil with coconut smell is more than necessary to nourish hair roots and give it a shiny healthy aspect. Containing henna, lemon and other full of vitamin herbs, the Dabur Vatika Coconut Hair Oil is also useful against dandruff and sebum excess type of hair.

Women have always desired to have a volume hair and special products have been created on this purpose. For example this product gives not only hair shine but also a lot of natural volume. It can be used on damp but also dry hair and the effects can be seen immediately.

For those of you who have curly hair this product is ideal.

The Aloe-E helps taming the wild curls and for a total treatment you should also use the Sunsilk Conditioner or the curls crème.

For those of you who have fragile hair this butter is ideal. Containing mango extract it helps in strengthening the hair roots and also diminishes the split ends effect. The price is more than advantageous.

For those of you who have colored your hair blonde you surely need a conditioner in order to maintain your color beautiful. This product contains harmless hair colorants so using it will help you hair look shiny and attractive.

Although we often experience the good feel factor during and in particular after an exercise it is easy to forgo this activity in the winter months. Spending longer indoors, colder temperatures and shorter days may result in less time to exercise. Less exercise may lead to weight gain and other health problems. Here are 10 tips to make sure you keep exercising come rain or shine and enjoy it in the process.

Dress well – When the temperature is low, wearing appropriate gear is important. Wearing clothing that is too warm may cause the body to over-heat and poorer results. Consider clothing that fit the type of activity you partake in.

Warm up first – When the muscles are cold, it is easy to cause damage. Whenever you start, do not overdo it. Slowly warm up for at least ten minutes before you start. A useful warm up can include walking at a faster pace or slow jogging.

Beware of the common flu and cold – You are far more likely to come down with flu or cold during the winter months. If you do, you should avoid exercising as it may lead to other health problems and if you are exercising indoors, you might give your flu or cold to others.

Drink plenty of fluids – The body requires water to cool itself down and for nutritional values. It is easy to forget drinking enough fluids when it’s cold. Even in winter, be sure to drink at least ten cups of water a day.

Match the activity to the weather – Certain physical activities are suitable for all year round. On the other hand, some may turn out to be a real turn-off in winter. The most suitable winter activities include riding a bike with the appropriate clothing and indoor activities such attending the gym or swimming.

Manage time better – Due to shorter days in winter, you need to do more in less time. A couple of simple steps can help. Avoid talking with others, be it on the phone or with other people face to face. Keep a close eye on the time and on the breaks you take.

Try varied exercise to fight boredom – One of the main reasons for giving up an exercise regime is boredom. A varied exercise plan that encompasses different activities will help ensure you stay focused.

Keep safe – If you tend to exercise outdoors on your own, make sure to wear reflective clothing so you can be seen and you will do well to exercise with a friend.

Prevent post exercise hypothermia – The condition may happen when the body quickly loses warmth. The most common scenario when clothing is removed immediately after returning indoors from an outdoors activity. Remove the layers one by one thereby giving your body time to adjust.

Any activity will do – Some is better than none. You do not have to join a health club to keep fit. Walking can be achieved indoors at your nearest mall and going up the stairs instead of taking the lift when you can will do just fine.

Enjoy your exercise and keep well.

Modern life is expensive. The strife of the recession, ever increasing daily expenses, inflation – sometimes it feels like your salary is only enough to cover the basic essentials. But if you’re imaginative this doesn’t have to affect your life very much. Students are probably the poorest people in the country but they manage to have the most fun – and a few small discounts aren’t the only source of this. It’s perfectly easy to have a social calendar full to bursting and a flourishing love life as well as a tight budget. Here are six tips for dating when funds are low, whether you’re professional dating or student dating:

Find student catering…

Did you know that there are many restaurants dotted around the country run by catering and hospitality students? There is bound to be one in your local area and the cost will be significantly lower than average for the quality provided. Who says dinner dates have to break the bank?

Share ‘quiet nights in’…

An even better way to negotiate any dinner date expense is to turn your dining room into your very own eatery. Transform the place with table cloths, candles, cushions, draped pieces of fabric and anything else you can think of. Then plan a menu of both of your favourite foods – if you’re not a good cook then stick religiously to the recipe. To save even more money you could even ask your date to bring the wine.

Use public transport, never taxis…

A great way to save on dates (and in general) is to use public transport, avoiding the use of a car and especially taxis. This small saving in travel costs could cut a significant amount off the overall expense of the date.

Watch the sunset…

Why not embrace nature this winter and enjoy the beautiful outdoors? Winter is a gorgeous season – especially when it snows – and taking it in is completely free. Why not suggest a walk at sunset? Even the most expensive date wouldn’t be as romantic as this.

Get sporty…

Try out an activity with your date – walking, playing Frisbee, kite-flying, cycling – whatever takes your fancy. Not only is this also free, but it will keep you fit and warm in the cold weather.

Find amateur entertainment…

Theatre and other live entertainments don’t have to cost a fortune. Look for local venues and independent companies – there’s bound to be a lot of cheap but great quality events going on out there.

If you happen to be a UK dress size 12 or above, browsing in high street shops can sometimes leave you feeling like you have somewhat limited options in the style-stakes. Plus-size clothing has come a long way in the past few years alone, with high street stores starting to stock more ranges of women’s plus size clothing. However, it’s still possible to fall in love with an item in a store window only to venture inside and find it’s not offered in your size.

Rather than allowing your style to be dictated by the brands, it’s important to realise that with an expanding plus-size retail offering you are likely to be able to source a similar item elsewhere – at another store, or online. What’s more, it’s worth considering whether you should be allowing these high street stores that fail to cater to your needs to have a hand in deciding your style at all. This doesn’t mean ignoring trends altogether – although let’s face it – some passing styles really are best bypassed. Instead, take your lead straight from the catwalks.

Before you head out shopping on the high street or head online, browse the designer trends in style bibles such as Elle and Vogue and pick out the trends that you can make work for you. Identify new ideas that fit with your own sense of style, for example – if you like to work a tailored classic look, don’t be tempted to pick up a casual trend because it’s ‘in’. Look out for colours and prints that you can work into your existing style, or elements of a whole look that you can adapt for yourself, then take these ideas with you when you shop. This way you can put together your own outfits rather than automatically selecting the ones assembled on the models in the shop.

For some parents, saying “no” isn’t always easy. Whether it the fear of children getting upset or not wanting to deal with the consequences of saying no, many moms and dads choose to give in to their children day in and day out. If you are a parent that falls into this category, perhaps you are searching for ways to learn how to say no. The following information will be very beneficial to you.

Who are you creating?

Parents are often directly responsible for the person their child becomes. Who are you creating? By not saying “no” to your child, you could potentially be setting him or her up for failure in the future. Adulthood will be full of ups and downs. There will times when, as an adult, your child will be told no. Will he know how to handle this answer when the time comes? The tips below will help you prepare your child for future success by simply saying “no” every now and then.

Saying “no” to wants. The perfect place to begin exposing your children to the word “no” is when they ask for things that they want. Make a common household rule that if your child wants something, he must earn it. Whether it is making good grades or completing weekly chores, help your child learn that if we want things in life, we have to work for them. Saying “no” in this area will teach your child life skills that he will need to be a successful adult.

Talk with your children. If you kids are familiar with you giving in to there every want, it may come as a surprise to them when you actually do decide to say “no” for the first time. Don’t bombard your children with the word “no”. Make it a family matter and sit your children down and discuss with them what will be happening. Do your best to explain that saying “no” is for their own benefit. While they are not likely to agree with or understand the concept, they will be prepared for the time when you do say no.

Don’t give in. Once you begin saying “no”, you may quickly regret it. Why? Your child or children are likely to throw fits and rebel because of your answer. Make sure that your children are aware that negative behavior associated with you telling them no will not be tolerated. During these times, it can seem especially tempting to give in. Keep in mind that you are teaching your child life skills by saying no and do not give in.

Don’t go overboard. You are making an effort to create a responsible adult when you learn to say “no” to your children. However, don’t go overboard with it. There will still be times when you can say yes to them. Be realistic when it comes to teaching your children that they can’t always have their way. If the situation warrants a “yes”, don’t be afraid to give this answer to your child.

But, what if my child refuses to accept the answer “no”?

Sadly, this is a problem that is all too common among children and their parents. If your child refuses to accept the answer “no”, your problem is bigger than it may seem. To correct this problem, you must make your child understand who the adult is. Reinforce the fact that you are the adult and know what is best for him. Older children who have been given their way for years may be especially challenging to deal with when it comes to saying “no”. As children become older, the behavior will be more difficult to change. For this reason, it is important that you child begins to know the word “no” as early as possible. Even from infancy, a child should be corrected when he or she does something wrong. Giving in to every want will only serve to make the problem more difficult as time goes on.

Don’t be afraid of telling your child “no”. It is essential for you to be the adult and teach your children that you can’t always have everything you want in life. Saying “no” to your child will only help him become a more responsible, successful adult in the future. Will you begin telling your child “no” today in an effort to create a successful adult?

While you cannot go back in time or stop it, there are many ways in which you can fight the signs of the aging process. From exercise to daily vitamins, getting the upper hand on aging is not as hard as it may seem. One of the best ways to keep your youthful look is through eating healthy food.
The key to fighting the signs of aging in your skin is living a healthy, active lifestyle. A part of this healthy lifestyle is watching what you eat. Many fruits and vegetables, such as the ones listed above, naturally ward off the signs of aging. Take advantages of this by eating a healthy diet full of green leafy vegetables, garlic, carrots, etc. The food that you put into your body will either have a negative or positive impact on how quickly you will age.

The Hen party (or bachelorette party) is a happy time for the bride-to-be to enjoy with her friends before she settles down in to married life. The hen party should be enjoyable for everyone that the bride is close to in her female friendship and family group, so it’s important to choose an activity or destination that’s accessible for all and won’t alienate the older members of the group. Here are some great ideas for an enjoyable hen party.

Women are never too young or too old for a bit of pampering. A fantastically relaxing activity for a hen group is to enjoy some beauty treatments together in a nail or hair salon, which you could all show off later in the evening on a night out. Or go one step further and spend the whole hen weekend in a spa and enjoy swimming, saunas and massage treatments. Spending relaxing time together will allow you to gossip and natter to your hearts’ content.

Add a bit of excitement and intellect to your hen party by organising a murder mystery weekend or a treasure hunt. You can opt to use a professional events company to help you organise this, or opt for your own ‘Cluedo’ style costumes, clues and props to help you decide whodunit! Send each hen a secret list of what to prepare before the night. A treasure hunt could include interesting facts about the bride and groom and incorporate some of their favourite places in town.

For the more outgoing hens, there are some confidence testing activities to be enjoyed as a group and to learn some new skills – such as burlesque dancing, pole dancing, and karaoke. These are all good fun and create a great team building atmosphere with plenty of giggles along the way and surely some funny photographs will be taken from the day!

If you’re looking for a less expensive option then there’s no reason a house party can’t be good enough for your bride-to-be’s farewell to freedom. There are a lot of parlour games that are great fun and simple to organise. Some ideas include: Dress design – in teams of two, design a dress made completely out of toilet roll and sticky tape; Pin the tail on the donkey – except the donkey is a man and it’s not his tail you’re pinning…; Model a man – each hen makes a different ideal make body part out of modelling clay, and when finished all the different parts are put together to make the supposedly perfect male!

The most important thing to remember when planning a hen party is that every member of the group should feel involved in helping the bride have the perfect send-off she deserves.

Spending a few hours in one of the capital’s many eateries is the perfect chance to indulge in some serious people watching. That’s not to say the food isn’t good, though. The capital is home to some of the world’s finest restaurants and worldly cuisine.

Light bites

Nibble a cookie and sample the perfect coffees at Cafe Oto on Ashwin Street. It was recently lauded as the coolest place in Britain by Italian Vogue. Those seeking something a little more substantial could do worse than the doorstep sandwiches available from the Rochelle Canteen on Arnold Circus. Regular patrons include Giles Deacon, Luella Bartley and Marc Jacobs’s accessory designer, Katie Hillier.

Get creative

Overlooking the legendary Spitalfields Market, St John Bread and Wine is always packed with high-end artists and fashionistas. Those without the budget to afford its sometimes questionable delights should make a trip to Soho in central London. As the capital’s creative hub, the area is home to many eateries frequented by flamboyant and stylish Londoners.

Picnic

When it’s a sunny day, Londoners flock to the city’s parks. While office workers have to settle for a Prêt sandwich, those with more time on their hands can while away the hours with a picnic. Turn ingredient buying into a fun experience by shopping at a farmers’ market. Alternatively, try one of the Forman & Field hampers available from www.formanandfield.com. Some of the city’s best picnicking parks include Alexandra Park, Kyoto Gardens in Holland Park, Postman’s Park, and Victoria Park.

Fine dining

London is at the forefront of fine dining, helped no doubt by the influence of Sir Terrence Conran. Any one of his ten restaurants is a safe bet – whether it’s the lively Zinc or Cantina Del Ponte, or the cool elegance of the Orrery, Le Pont de la Tour or Bibendum. Other guaranteed good eateries are those owned by Oliver Peyton – the man responsible for Mash, the Atlantic Bar and Grill, and Coast.

Eating on the go

Beneath the clattering roof of Brixton Market diners can find everything from delectable cupcakes to delicious pizzas. Try Franco Manca, the Wild Caper deli or Rosie’s Deli Cafe. Alternatively, head east to the Brick Lane Beigel Bakery for a midnight bagel or salt-beef sandwich. There’s no meal more British than fish and chips – one of the best is the Rock & Sole Plaice on Endell Street.
