Conducting talks and workshops across the country, we are the only organisation focusing expressly on constructive engagement with the Arab world and Arab-British communities in British schools.

In the past CAABU's education programme has focused mainly on working with GCSE and A-Level students, however, we are keen to widen the reach of our work to Higher Education and have recently secured funding for a 6 month project that will include a programme of activities to encourage student support in British universities for Palestinian rights, with a special focus on the right to education.

We are looking for a good team worker with some experience of organising events, a good understanding of student activism, knowledge of Palestinian issues and a degree in politics/international affairs or a related subject. Mohammed will create his message-based mural, which deals with issues relevant to the whole of humanity and to people of all faith, on the side of the Zam Zam Bookstore on the busy corner of Green Street and Harold Road.

From shoppers to journalists to art-critics, everyone is invited to watch while Mohammed paints the mural and various renowned poets will also perform throughout the day in this vibrant shopping area.

Mohammed Ali has travelled across the globe and painted his thought-provoking murals as far afield as New York, Melbourne, Kuala Lumpur, Toronto and Singapore. He has now teamed up with Muslim Hands, a UK based charity focussed on the international alleviation of poverty, in creating murals across the UK.

Mohammed says of his forthcoming London mural, "I've created conscious message-based murals around the globe, in many multicultural societies. Now it's time to come back home and deal with issues on my own doorstep, by using public-art as the new language for change."

For more details contact Afaaf Rajbee on 020 3246 0015, afaaf.rajbee@muslimhands.org

To see more on the art of Mohammed Ali, visit http://www.aerosolarabic.com

Notes:

* The wall mural will continue throughout the day from 11am until 4.30pm at ZamZam bookstore, on the corner of Green Street and Harold Road.
