It's a barbecue dinner set beside a big swimming pool and along side is a very nice function room.

Our theme was Hawaiian Luau in which I highly suggested, planned and organized. Thankfully our boss liked the idea and supported the plan. Our guest are mainly employees, employee's spouses and kids.

I prepared three games for adult and two activities for the kids. There are also gifts for the kids. A lot of red and white wine, champagnes and beers. The food was superbly good.

They all enjoyed the party. Our boss even commented "it's a success you can see they are all happy". And also one of our French-colleague said "just perfect". I also commended my two Filipino colleagues for helping out in coming up with this event. I am so delighted that the party was a big success and hearing those comments, appreciation and what-not is heart-warming. Glad they appreciated the effort.

Two Days More

We'll be back home two days from now. And I am so excited. Can't barely wait for the day of our flight. After oner-year-eight-months of staying here in Singapore. We have experience celebrating Christmas and New Year here but back home is incomparable. Filipino celebration is the best.

There are a lot of things we plan to do. List of activities that our family has prepared. Reunions, dinner and lots of talks awaits us. Another thing is I'll be seeing my house again. I miss our house. And am just darn excited about it. Can't wait.

And it will be so nice to celebrate Christmas and New Year in our home country. I love the celebration we have back home and looking forward for all those stuff, the so-called "Paskong Pinoy". Every year I look forward for Christmas. The merry making it gives. The gathering that every family holds is undeniably fun.

Last year, I didn't put any Christmas tree but rather a simple Christmas lights and some decorations filled our home. But this year I started putting up our Christmas tree last November 23. Since my son knows what it is and the reason why we are putting up Christmas decorations and all. While my daughter is so interested on the hanged decorations. She loves the colors. I love hearing from him the words "I like our Christmas tree mum, it's beautiful".

This year our decorations on our Christmas tree is a blend of gold and red with gold Angel topper. I simply like the colors. So happy and brilliant. But I remain it simple.

And today is the first day of December. Few more days to come before Christmas. Happy December everyone!

Weekend at Bintan

Two weeks ago me and hubby went out for weekend vacation in Bintan, Indonesia. We stayed at Bintan Lagoon for two-days-one-night accommodation. I so loved our stay in Bintan. Bintan Lagoon is a five-star resort. The hotel-staff are so accommodating and friendly. They have a lot of nice & clean facilities.

Bintan is one of the largest island in Riau province in Indonesia. It's a 45-minute ferry travel from Tanah Merah ferry terminal. The place is like an extended Singapore for you can use Singapore dollar to transact and pay your bill. Just after settling down and consuming our sumptuous lunch we immediately ask the receptionist where we can get a vehicle to bring us at Pasar Oleh-Oleh. Pasar Oleh-Oleh is a place where you can buy native products, eat local food and have a nice massage. Of course we didn't let it pass, we had a one-hour Balinese massage. It was so so relaxing that gives value to your money. After which we checked on some local products. We intend to buy a painting and luckily we were able to find one.

The massage place sends us back to the hotel for free. So if you plan to go here, you must ask first if they can send you back to your hotel for free. There are some who didn't. So better ask.

The following day, we went for a bike. This is one of the activities that we both enjoy doing. We had fun with the bikes. We plan to go for an elephant show but we don't have enough time. There will be next time for sure. After our heavy breakfast we go for a swim. Then come twelve noon we are hoping to catch Pacquiao-Cotto match. And surprisingly a local channel covers the fight. And so we were able to watched the fight. We stayed at the Veranda bar and have a nice cup of cappuccino before heading to the ferry terminal.

We absolutely love our short-trip-weekend-getaway at Bintan, Indonesia. Next time, it's going to be a family trip.

Welcome Home

Night of October 31, 2009, hubby arrived home. And I am so excited. It's been a month since husband arrived from his almost three-months business trip in New York. The day before he arrived I planned something for him. Something for the two of us. I honestly missed him that's why I came up with this idea. I booked a room in a hotel. Then arranged the place according to my preference.

I started on putting the rose petals in the bed and formed a heart-shaped and scattered the rose petals all over. Then I placed the food, some sushi, finger food and two slices of cake. Lastly I set the table for the drinks, put the the Chardonnay with two wine-glasses, a bear and placed the pastry delicacies on the same space.

Hubby was mesmerized and surprised with what I prepared for him. A welcome drinks as well as finger food to feast on. What a nice way to welcome someone whom you love dearly.

Just the Two of Us

Finally the long awaited vacation is here. We already got the package in the travel agency. For our two-days-one-night vacation in Bintan, Indonesia for me and hubby. And it will be tomorrow. It's another sweet escape. Can you feel how excited I am?

Long awaited, yes because we have been planning a vacation just for the two of us since June. For those who's following my blog already knew about the Angkor Wat vacation plan. But if you want you can still read here.

It feels so good to at least spend time with your partner, just the two of you. Reconnect and spend much time with each other, quality time. I think couples should do this at least once a year. Do you agree?

A Charity Auction on Family Day

Last Saturday, my family attend the Family Day organized by the company where my husband is currently working. It was our first time to attend since last year for some reasons we didn't attend the event. But anyway, this year the weather was all so fine and we prepare the kids for the activity. We arrived at the venue pass 3pm. There are a lot of activities. Games, shows, raffle and of course food and drinks. All sort of drinks from water, soda's, juice, name it they have it. The kids enjoy much of the event. My son even tried the boat ride for some reason he was the one who said to us, "I want to try that one" and so we let him try. He did enjoy and never wants to stop.

Aside from all fun stuff for the employee and family members. The company also had this charity auction. Where in the display pictures, paintings and sketches were up for bid. And the proceeds will be given to the selected charity institution. We participated on the second set of auction. This was our first time to participate in an auction and it was fun.

I bid for the oil-in-canvass painting. I bid for this because I like the colour and the way artist portray the normal scenario in a typical coffee shop here in Singapore. I didn't let this chance pass. Luckily I have my husband's support on this. And so I was able to have the painting. And not just that we were also able to donate in the charity by simply bidding. What a nice deal.

Gifts, gifts, and more gifts!

Last week husband arrived home with loads of surprises not just for me and also for the kids. Seeing them growing and enjoying their childhood is the best feeling you can ever have.

As for me, hubby mentioned to me that he bought me shirts from Hard Rock New York and M & M's store. He also mentioned that he bought me a pack of Body Works lotion, hand cream, shower gel, cologne and also lots of M & M's candies. Which I am so thankful for. But never did I know that he bought another one. In which I was so surprised when he handed me the gift. It's my favorite and is also looking forward to buy myself one of that. But apparently husband give me what I really wanted. He gave another hand bag. A Coach bag! Yes, a mahogany Coach bag. So surprised and thankful for it. Finally I have one. Thank you for all of those!

Thanks to my ever dearest sweet husband for all the surprises. Me and kids love it so much. What an advance Christmas gifts! I like it since it cools of the area but in contrary I don't like it because it will be hard for us to go out and I hate it when my feet gets wet. Actually I made a post similar to this, you can view it here.

But what it differs is the Christmas mode it sets. And also thanks to the Christmas decorations along Orchard Road. I can feel Christmas now in November. Unlike last year whereby I can't feel the spirit of Christmas. And thank God we will have our Christmas vacation back home. Yahoo! And I'm so looking forward for it. Can't wait.

Oops, have you the new Christmas coffee for 2009 from Starbucks? But what should I get? Peppermint, Toffee Nut or Dark Cherry? I better go check one. Got to go.

Soul Mate

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 185px; height: 185px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_9ZaWetOGVeE/StSsQMvQ5NI/AAAAAAAABBs/TZcxA9WfQXA/s200/jpg.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5392124048166675666" />
November 15, 2006 exactly six (6) years when my then boyfriend now husband gave this poem to me. A reminder that you will really consider coming from a three-year old child. Every time I bid good bye to my son and inform him that I will be out for few hours to go to work or somewhere he never fails to say, “be careful mom”. He will not utter it just once but as many as he could. After kissing me. Before he closes and locks the main door.

How sweet he was, to remind me always to be careful. Be careful in everything I do, say and think especially at work. Where everyday will be a lot of unexpected events. A reminder to be careful because they are depending on me in a way. A reminder to be mindful of things around me. A gentle reminder that I always keep in mind because I need to and I have to because I have them.

Rejuvenate, Detoxify & Relax

Two weeks ago I was strolling at the new mall in Orchard and also to look for the t-shirt of my favourite author in which you can find only in one store. But haven't release here in Singapore. According to my favourite author they have released the 2nd product last October 6 but still couldn't find any. I was disappointed.

But anyway, I still managed to buy something out of my disappointment. I went to this shop. Initially I was looking for a facial product, a replacement of what I am currently using since I used up the first that I bought. And then eventually the sales lady offered me their new product which is at the same time offers discounted price for members. And since I am a member I can enjoy until 40% discount as well as gift product. Nice deal. But before I bought the product I tested it first and also asked what is the best seller. I was pleased with how the sales lady explained everything to me and since I trust the shop I did get one for myself.

They call the new product as Spa Wisdom Collection. They have three line of products that you can choice from. I picked the Spa Wisdom Africa which includes Africa Ximenia & Salt Scrub, Africa Shea Butter & Sesame Oil Body Balm, and Africa Honey & Beeswax Hand and Foot Butter. The other line are Spa Wisdom Morocco and Spa Wisdom Polynesia. They also provide magazine on how to use the product.

I am using the product two weeks now and it was all worth it. It's inimitably good. Keeps me detoxify, rejuvenated and relaxed at the end of a days toil. Oops, did I mention it's from The Body Shop?

Nice Lunch at Hard Rock Cafe

Yesterday, me and my colleagues went out for lunch. Actually it was one of my colleague who told us about the promotion set lunch meal at Hard Rock Cafe in Orchard Road. The meal comes with one main meal (you can chose either baked Cajun chicken, pan fried Dory fillet or a ham & mushroom spaghetti), soup of the day, refillable drinks (soda, coffee or tea), and a scoop of Haagen Daz chocolate ice cream all for the price of SGD10.00. They call it Recession set lunch and served between 11:00AM - 3:00PM. Simply a nice set of lunch!

We took the opportunity since it was a good offering and also a time to relax and have lunch with team in a nice place. While waiting for our place I went to the boutique shop just to check some items and take a photo of some interesting objects inside. I did enjoy our lunch; the food was really nice coupled with a nice chat with some colleagues. The price is just fair enough considering that it's Hard Rock, you know what I mean? We didn't pay the much compared with our past dinners that we normally pay more than SGD10.00.

Just My Sentiments

It hurts me more seeing my homeland suffered from all forms, corruption, disaster, calamities, oppression and what-not because of some selfish and greedy people who is leading the country or should I also say has lead the country. For the past days after Ondoy (Ketsana) and Pepeng (Parma) has struck my homeland I never failed to update myself on what are the measures the government is doing and is planning to do for the long-term. But until now nothing has been done. Still people are in pain. And the government is waiting for international help. Are they waiting for the US government to act on it. Poor thing. Is that what you call, governance? What Conrado de Quiros wrote on his article in Philippine Daily Inquirer entitled "Opportunity" dated October 14, 2009 is resounding true. And so I qoute,

"If Ondoy and Pepeng drove home anything, it is the truth that corruption kills. Corruption does not separate fools from their money, corruption kills. Corruption does not just waste people’s money, corruption kills. Corruption does not just divert public money, corruption kills. Corruption is the rope that should have been thrown to the drowning but is nowhere to be found."

It pains me even more that I'm working and living in a foreign country and pays my taxes in the land where I am right now because we were pushed by a not so good situation back in my country for the sake of our children. That I should be there serving my land, the land who nourished and fills-in my hungry senses. But because of these unfortunate circumstances many Filipinos are pushed to leave the country in search of better life for themselves and for their family back home. As they say, there are a lot of things that needs to be done. But how come nothing has been done until now. And people don't even know where to start.

The Child-in-Me

Last Wednesday, I was in this mall to check on some things which I can buy for the homecoming. While checking, I happen to notice this items on sale. At first it didn't excite me but later upon checking all the items that were on sale I started to look for what I want. Those were DVD's. Immediately I checked on those that I really really want. I hurriedly asked the salesman on the item I am looking for. And when the salesman told me that they have the item. Without any hesitation I abruptly buy those DVD's. Impulsive buyer? Not exactly and whatever you may call it, I don't care as long as I have the DVD's with me everything is just oh so fine.

Those were DVD's of Harry Potter. They are Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets; Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone; Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban; and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Actually I have the four books which was a gift to me by hubby back 2006 but it's not enough for me. I consider this as my collection. Things that makes me happy. I bought this also as a gift for myself. Okay, enough of the justification. I think while reading this post your wondering why I like Harry Potter. Isn't it? Yes I know, am too old for these kind of films / materials but come on all of us have this child-in-us. And I think this is the child-in-me. I have a huge fascination with this magic, spells, witch-craft, potion and what-not. And I really like the concept, story-line, movie and the casting as well.

Also I can share this to my kids when they grew up. That I felt the sudden need for me to take off and have some breather. I didn't invite anyone and had no plans of sharing the moment with anyone. I snatched sometime and had a nice cup of Java Chip Frappucino and Cheese Bagel with cream cheese at my favourite coffee shop.

There are a lot of times that I prefer to do things on my own. Probably because I was raised that way. Doing things that I know will make me more satisfied and happy. And by doing that I felt I was able to escape from the cruel world just for a bit of time or probably a second of my life time. To engrossedly enjoy the company of nice food and drinks while relaxing deeply on the instance that you have your place, a sanctuary probably and thinking of nothing. And consuming those so-called "comfort food" .

New Project

Having known that I will be in the new project, which currently is the biggest that our company has and will handle for the next two years. This makes me proud and excited to be in this team and at the same time anxious. Anxious in a way because the modules that I will be handling are new to me. I don't know where to start and what to do. Yes, you read it right, modules. I will be handling three new modules.

Nonetheless I just think this as a new learning for me. New things that I will be exploring on and later benefiting from it. It's a very challenging task but I believe I can get hold of it. I booked on-line for 4:40pm screening. But before purchasing the ticket I show the trailer to my son and asked him if he wants to watch that movie and he immediate says yes to me. This is the second movie of the kids for this year. The first was the movie, UP.

We reached the mall by 4:00pm and immediately proceeded to the ticketing area to claim the ticket and afterwards went to Aussino, a bed & bath shop. I bought the kid's comforter set for Ralph. Which he personally choose a Mickey & Minnie comforter set.

The movie was inspired by the same children's book by Ron & Judi Barrett. This was locally released last October 1 and which is available in normal and 3D animation. It was a hilarious comedy animated movie released by Sony Animated Pictures. Starred by Bill Hader as Flint Lockwood, the inventor who never stopped inventing things until something came up. The movie emphasizes the love and support of parents as well as on pursuing your dreams. My kids were so attentive watching the movie while munching on a popcorn.

After watching, I asked my son if he likes the movie and he said "yes mum". I asked what was the movie about and he said "lots of spaghetti, doughnuts, hotcakes and ice cream too". It was so cute hearing it from a three-year old child. Got preoccupied with home and office responsibilities. For those who constantly reading my blog knew that my hubby went off to New York for six (6) weeks business trip but five days before his scheduled flight back here in Singapore he received an e-mail from his boss telling that he will be extend for another four (4) weeks. And that brings both of us into sadness. But I guess we have to accept it since this is work-related and non of us wants that to happen.

Having known that he will be away for another few weeks more brings me to the feeling wherein he was away for more than six (6) months for a business trip in China/Hong Kong adding to that he left a week after our wedding back in 2006. The very first time he was away since we got married. Sad but we need to bear the sadness, loneliness and what-not. I always told myself I'll get used to it since before we got married he was always away due to projects and work. But it was never been easy right from the beginning. But as my husband would always say, "this will be temporary, just be strong".

I guess I just have to accept the things as they are and embrace everything that comes our way. And every time this situation happens I just look forward to the homecoming.

For Her

It's been more than six years since I started working and it's only now that I was able to buy a decent, elegant and fashionable gift for my mother. Since it's only now that I can afford to buy. A gift that truly matches her spirit. No special occasion that tells me to buy something for her but rather I wanted to express how thankful I am for having a woman like her in my life. To the woman who never fails to understand, respect and love me from day one up until now. To the woman who never leaves me but rather stand beside me no matter what. To the woman whose love is unending and the support is unwavering. To my mother, my beloved one.

A diamond necklace and ring is what she truly deserves. Toys that will help stimulate their creativity. And with this every month we make it a point to give something for them. It doesn't necessarily be expensive but something that will be beneficial in their learning and of course should be enjoyable and fun at the same time. This month I have purchased another set of toys for them. Another mega bloks product. I really love there toys. They have a lot of variety and it maintains the interest of the kids. Aside from building and knocking down they also have character inspired such as McQueen, Dora-the-Explorer, Mickey Mouse and a lot more.

I bought Pooh-and-Friends Pirate Ship Mega Bloks for Ralph and Ariel Wedding Boat Mega Bloks for Ria. It was believe that Moon Cake Festival is a celebration of "harvest". As the story tells, it marks the defeat of the Mongol invaders in China in 1314AD that took place when the moon is at it's brightest.

Two weeks ago me & my mum together with the kids were strolling along Orchard Road after a sumptuous meal. We happen to pass by Marriott Hotel and saw a stall that sells moon cake. Since my mum loves moon cake and so I bought something for her. You can only see moon cake during it's festivity period and is not available after. I bought this snow skin Ebony & Ivory Whisky Chocolate Praline. One small piece cost S$7.50, not bad for a very tasty and satisfying delicacy.

There are a lot of varieties of moon cake, for traditional baked, the one which is brown in color on the outside. I noticed also that he was chilling too. I hug and comfort him but I can sense that non was normal. Having no help around since hubby's out for a business trip. My mum and daughter is sleeping on the other room. I carry Ralph at the sofa area so I can get a paracetamol. The minute I gave the medicine he vomits a phlegm like fluid. Then my mum went out of the room and saw us. We gave him sponge bath but still he was chilling.

Four o'clock, then I decided to rush him to the hospital. Ralph and I headed to Raffles Hospital. He was checked and found out that the temperature was 39 degrees high. The doctor asked the nurse to give suppository to make the temperature down. They gave him antibiotics and medicine for cough and fever. And thankfully he is fine now but will still continue to administer the medicine given to him especially the antibiotics.

This is not the first time that I rushed my son to the hospital for emergency. Back in the Philippines our first with him was when he was six months old at Manila Doctor's Hospital. As my mum always says, "never compromise your children's health." Being a parent is never and will never be an easy task. For me, my children's health comes first and everything else is secondary.

Mint Museum of Toys

Two days before my trip in Ho Chi Minh, I tour my son and uncle to this museum. A place where you can see back the toys that have been created as early as 1930's. It was so amazing that they were still able to keep those toys and now part of history. Toys that evolve to what they are right now. The beginnings of what kids of today is enjoying. My son enjoyed much of what's in there, especially the big red car place in a glass box. And I myself was so amazed with this collection. That they were able to collect/collate all of this coming from different parts of the world from different era.

The place is called, Mint Museum of Toys which is located at Seah Street besides Raffles Hotel in Singapore. They even have the value of each toys. Most of them cost from USD500 way up to USD8,000. That was huge!
