I got so much interest when I posted these on our Facebook wall, that I decided to share them here as well.

Want to make your family smile on a Sunday morning? Serve them up a cheerful breakfast surprise, rainbow pancakes! They are simple to make. Prepare your favorite pancake batter as usual- then divide it amongst separate bowls and add food coloring to each bowl (I used 5 colors here but you could so 6 colors in the rainbow). Then, cook like normal!

Have you ever used {or made} paper flowers for party decor?

The party hats fit the theme perfectly! They are the same party hats I used for my girls’ candy themed party, remember?

The ice cream was set out in plastic buckets with shovels as the scoops. Love it! A buffet of toppings included “super hero strawberries” and “crushed Oreo dirt” perfect for a party of boys. All the buckets were labeled with the flavor of their content, with one bucket being a ”family favorite” flavor, so fun!

For games, they played this handmade “Pin The Cherry On The Ice Cream Sundae” game and even made sculptures out of ice cream cones. Sounds like fun right? You can see pics over on Kate’s blog. For favors, adults were sent home with ice cream scoops adorned with thank you tags. The kids got to fill up bags of their favorite toppings to take home.

I like this rainbow invitation. Of course, you can also include your actual address- however I still like the idea of including the text: ”somewhere over the rainbow” and “just follow the yellow brick road.”

Speaking of the yellow brick road, you can paint a path leading to your door using sidewalk safe paint, or a make a yellow aisle runner using felt fabric from your local fabric shop. If you don’t have a path this would work on, you can plant yellow flowers in oblong flower boxes to line your walkway.

For other decor (or just for some fun) set out this themed game: The Wizard of Oz  Yellow Brick Road Game. This can even be set out as entertainment if parents will be in attendance.

Perhaps my favorite idea, is to have each girl remove their shoes at the front door and slip on a pair of adorable ruby red slippers. These can double as party favors, as each girl can wear them home and continue her play once the party has ended.

These wicked witch cupcakes are perfect for a Wizard of Oz  party! Serve them with these black and white striped napkins and ruby red paper goods for a complete look.
