Hello,
I am currently in the middle of an appeal to receive unemployment benefits in PA. I was laid off due to lack of work. I applied after being out of a job for 1 year. My family used our savings at first to pay bills, thinking that i will get a job within a short time frame. However, we have depleted our saving and I applied for government help. They denied my claim, stating that I applied too late. However, I earner thousands of dollars for 6 years of hard work and I feel entitled to some help. We just had a small baby, who is 14 months. I really need to win my appeal. Can you please help with some legal advice. What can I do to win this appeal?

Hello. My name is Katherine. I am currently waiting for my son's paternity papers to be on file 60 days before I can fully file for custody of my son. I have a feeling his father is going to fight me tooth and nail just to hurt me. How important is a lawyer in a parenting plan? I was a stay at home mom for nearly 2 years and now I'm a student. I don't really have the money to pay for a lawyer, and because my son's father didn't beat me; I don't qualify for a free lawyer. I really want to get the ball rolling on this and have everything ready so that when that 60 days are up I can file all the paper work.

I worked for the railroad for 14+ years. Terminated 1/08 for mishandling the company money. I had one employee working under me who had approx 6 years with the company. Some of the other locations he worked in prior to my location, had concerns about his handling of money there. My site was reviewed normally twice a year, but in the previous year it had been reviewed about 6 times. The supervisor never informed me of anything wrong. They were actually investigating the other person and when he was brought up on charges, he retired. The company actually allowed him to retire, and since I was the other employee, the supervisor told me that since he was gone "someone would have to pay". The other employee had keys to the location, the combination to the safe and was allowed to live in his RV on the company property. He had access to the location 24 hours per day. I had repeatedly asked the supervisor for security cameras and was denied because "it wasn't in the budget". There was a hearing and because I was advised by my union rep not to say anything, I said nothing. My feeling is and was how can I comment on something I know nothing about. I had no idea how much money was taken, over how long a period of time. The company had 30 days to notify me of the shortage of funds, but did not do so until almost 18 months after the first incident. Charges were brought against me about 9 months after the investigation into the other employee began. My case was appealed by the union, and my case was to have been heard in April 2009, July 2009, and to this date it has not been responded to. Do I need a lawyer, or do I have to allow the union to do it's job, wait for a response, then get an attorney? Have I already missed the deadline to sue them, or am I wasting my time?

My cousin was aressted in Maimi ,Florida in 2002 for shoplifting. The merchandise involved was $260.00.She had some altercation with the security office of the store. She was arrested, fingerprinted and released on $500 bail.
She hired an attorney for expedited trial on the advise of an immigration lawyer as her immigration interview was coming up.
The attorney handling misdemenor charges made her write what actually happened and she had to do 50 hours of community service. The case was signed off as an expedited trial,PTD with Nolle Porsequi. It was expunged the same year.
She and her husband submitted that paper during the immigration interview for the green card which was in 2002.
Subsequently she was given the green card through an immigration lawyer in 2003;there was a delay because the file was misplaced.
She has been married to a US citizen since 1999 and the couple has a 9 year old daughter.
The questions-
If she files for citizenship -what she should write for the following questions--
1. Have you ever been commited of a crime or offence yes/no
2.Have you ever been placed in alternative sentencing or rehabilitative program yes/no
3.Have you ever been placed with suspended sentence/parole/on placed on probation-yes/no
4.Have you ever been in jail/prison- yes/no
Will this charge disqualify her from becoming a citizen
Will she be deported
What is the worst outcome
Thanks in advance for your time
They are constantly fighting. He has been very violent with her and I have tried to stay out of their business. I have never called the police out of fear for my own safety. I am not a violent or aggresive person and if he were ever to come after me I know I would not be able to defend myself. He was supposed to move out but never did. The fights were supposed to stop but never did. I was trying to stick it out until he moved out. but this weekend he flipped out on me and started screaming at me. I told him the next day that I could no longer live in that situation and now he is planning on suing me if I move out. I have no choice but to move out. I cannot live there fearing for my own safety everyday. I am scared that i do not have any proof though. What are my rights in this situation?

My stepson is 16yrs old now we've always known him to be a great kid and would always come to us with problems and questions .... lately that has not been the case. We first thought this to be him just being a teenager. His ex wife has also been having issues with her current husband and in normal circumstances she has alway's relayed information knowing that her life and decision's affect's her son's life and behavior. They are now divorcing even though she will not tell my husband this they are not living together and my stepson confirm's the situation . He has not been himself at all lately no interest in sport's no interest in really anything until recently we have found that he is interested in smoking marijuanna and drinking alcohol with his mother. and that isnt the worst she has exposed him to a undesirable crowd that she hang's out with at a out of the way location that is known for drug use and heavy drinking parties. What can we do to get him out of this situation in a delacate way with out harming him or making him hate us? We do plan on drug testing him on his next visit and wondering if CPS should be involved and if they would even investigate our CPS here has an awful reputation for letting parent's know when they are coming and what to exspect. which as we all know just solves the problem temporarily. My husband is also in law enforcement and does not know even where to start and is overwhelmed .

A little history:
My husband just called from work during his lunch upset. He says his boss has informed him that his pay check will be short (they get paid every two weeks) that the boss/owner says he will not be paying my husband the 4 hours over time for going into work earlier any where fro 1/2 and hour to 15 minutes before my husband is to open the store at 9am. My husband goes in early because the boss expects him to rake the gravel drive/parking lot pick up any trash that blew over from the restaurants across the road, and start power washing buildings on the lot as well as all the other duties he is to do during the day. My husband also feels his boss nit picks and harasses him compared to other employees. This boss currently has a court date set for this month for assaulting one of his employees, and my husband thinks this has a lot to do with the bosses attitude towards him. This boss every day harasses my husband with threats and tells my husband he is lieing and stealing hours from him. There is a lot more about this boss that is disturbing but I would like to know about taking hours away after they have been documented on the time card.

My question is,, can this boss refuse to pay the over time after its been documented on time cards?

Okay Ive put up a post once before reagarding this but with no luck. A year ago my mother in law called my husband and said that the renters that were in his grandparents cabin in Georgia were not keeping up on the rent or homeowners insurance and we were renting in Va so she asked if we would be interested in A Land Contract/Quick deed claim and we said yes,so we moved. Well she sent us a noterized letter from herself and his gma stating that the papers would be ready in Jan.09. But nothing else has been done. We were given a payment booklet by his mother (who has the power of attorney for his gma) to send in the payments on the house to the mortage company(Regions)758.00 a month which we have been doing faithfully. We were also given the info for the second mortage his grandparents had taken out for an addition to the cabin through(Citifinianical)295.00 a month. Now his mother wants to put his grandmother in a nursing home, and says that in order for his grandmother to be placed in a home that she cant have any property in her name. She wants us to get the house refinanced in our names but my husbands credit isnt the best and he hasnt been at his job long enough. Now she is saying(even though we are making the payments) that she is going to have the goverment take the house. Is there any way we can keep the house. It was appraised for 145,000 and the payoff is 85,000. And she says thats all we have to finance is the 85,000.00 any help would be appreciated.

I recently moved to Sarasota, FL and obtained my driver's license. I'm upset because they made me use my full first name given at birth, my entire maiden name and my married name. I've lived in 4 different states and have always had the "aka" name on my license without a problem, using my current license and my social security card (which has my given name on it). My passport has the entire "legal" name, which I used this time. I was told if I went back and asked them to take my maiden name off my license that I would have to pay the fees and it would be no problem. When I went back they told me I had to change my social security card, passport and furnish my marriage license and they all had to be changed to my "also known as" name. I was told it's because of Homeland Security but we're talking the State here and Homeland is Federal. Wouldn't all the states require that every individual does this if it's a Federal agency requirement? Don't taxpaying American's have any rights anymore?? I can't even use the name I've been using for 40 something years and everyone knows me by (except immediate family) - according to the Florida Division of Motor Vehicles.

In 2007 I wrote a master's thesis based on interviews with 20 people. The interviews were printed verbatim with the people's names. These people signed consent forms at the time. Now I would like to publish this thesis as a book. Do I have to get them to sign different consent forms? Do I have to get their permission in any way? Also, I plan to add a few more interviews. Do I need consent forms or does the fact that I explain verbally at the beginning of the interview that it will be used in a book constitute implied consent? If I do need a consent form, is there a template available? Thank you.
