Feather Beds, also known as mattress toppers, are an additional layer of feathers that have been sewn into sections that relieve pressure points naturally caused by coil-sprung mattresses. Feather Beds sit on top of your mattress and range between 1-4 inches thick. A common question we hear is whether Feather Beds can be used with pillow-top mattresses. The answer is YES! In fact, pillow top mattresses increase the comfort experienced with Feather Beds!

Feather Beds accomplish what Mattresses can not: perfect distribution of pressure. Feather Beds are specifically sewn to relieve the pressure points on your body where many mattresses are simply trying to reduce the feeling of their coil-springs. While mattresses can cost thousands of dollars, Feather Beds generally only cost 10% of that. Not only is the comfort exceptional, but Feather Beds prolong the life of your mattress while adding another layer of spill protection.

If you love plush comfort, a quality Feather Bed will astonish you. We have Feather Beds for every budget and in a range of sizes and styles. All of them are backed by our 100% Money Back Comfort Guarantee, so you can try one risk free. We know you’ll love it!

The luxurious weight that keeps you drowning in a sea of feathers is the perfect start to any morning. Yet if your like me, you don’t like the suffocating heat that builds up, which seemed to be the trade-off for the weight of a heavy feather comforter.

Thank goodness I’m no longer constantly throwing my covers off to only pull them back on a few minutes later…we found the perfect solution. Well, actually your pillow size should match your comfort requirements, after all, your pillow is there to help you sleep comfortably. Many people automatically associate a pillow size with the size of their mattress, without thinking about the comfort they require. Here’s a guide explaining the differences of the common pillow sizes:

Standard Size (generally 20 inches wide by 26 inches long)

Best suited for sleepers who prefer a firmer pillow

Less room to adjust fill

Best suited for sleepers who don’t toss and turn

Queen Size (generally 20 inches wide by 30 inches long)

Best suited for sleepers who like a balance of softness and support

Best comfort flexibility with fill types available

No such thing as Queen Size pillowcases, so queen pillows fill up Standard Size pillowcases completely and can be slightly firmer as a result

King Size (generally 20 inches wide by 36 inches long)

Large enough to provide comfort for sleepers who change sleeping positions during the night

One king size pillow can provide great comfort for a single sleeper on a twin or queen sized mattress

Can be too big or cumbersome for some sleepers

While matching a pillow size to the size of your mattress is not necessarily bad, consideration should be taken to ensure the pillow size suits your comfort requirements as well.

Pillows lose their support over time and need to be replaced to maintain proper comfort. If you haven’t replaced your pillow in a couple years, or just can’t seem to get comfortable, it’s time to get a pillow that suited to the position you sleep.

Here are 2 quick tests to see if your pillow needs replacing:

Test 1: Quality - Fold the length of your pillow in half and let go. If it doesn’t spring back to its original form, it’s time for a new pillow! If it does, go to test 2. (If you’re continually fluffing, squeezing, or folding your pillow to find that ‘sweet spot,’ you’ll sleep much better with a pillow that’s tailored to the support you need. Try Test 2 as well.)

Test 2: Support - Your neck should be aligned as straightly to your spine as possible when sleeping. To test the support of your pillow, hold it in both hands and stand against a flat wall mimicking the position you sleep in (as if you were sleeping against the wall).

For Example:

A back sleeper would hold the pillow behind their head with their back flat to the wall

A side sleepers body would be perpendicular to wall with the pillow in between, but above the shoulder

A stomach sleeper would hold the pillow in front of their head facing the wall with their neck turned

Next, very lightly, press your head into the pillow and see how it adjusts your necks position to your spine. Remember, the goal is to keep your spine as straight as possible. If your neck is tilted too much forward or back, it will be strained as you sleep and may become sore. If you feel your spine and neck is tilted, you’re not sleeping on the best pillow!

Using this knowledge, choose a pillow that has the correct firmness or softness based upon the position you sleep. Browse through our pillows and find the pillow that’s suited for you. Get started here.
