Thursday, April 23 at approximately 12:30 in the morning, UWG police responded to a complaint call from Arbor View Apartments, building A. Upon arrival, officers spotted a young female in the roadway crying profusely and a young male who was half-way inside the nearby trash compactor.

Dean Rice to Step Down

Don Rice will be leaving his position as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences to become a chair in the psychology department next fall. Klay Kieh, who was a professor in the Department of Political Science at Grand Valley State University in Michigan, chaired the Department of Political Science at Morehouse College and served as Dean of International Affairs at Grand Valley, will succeed him.

On April 20, freelance photojournalist Shannon McCollum presented "See Through The Eyes of a Photojournalist," in the Campus Center Ballroom. McCollum is considered to be a hip-hop photographer, having photographed highly acclaimed celebrities like John Legend, 50 Cent, Outkast, Cicely Tyson, and more. His work has been featured in The New York Times, Rolling Stone and Black Enterprise.

Laid-Back Jam Band Plays It All

Snowcone For President is a local three-piece, feel good, jam band with a growing fan base. The members are composed of Jeremy Neese- who is the southern soul sounding lead vocalist and also plays the twisted lead guitar, his younger brother Josh Neese-- who plays the funk-like bass and harmonizing back-up vocals, and Casey "Baby boy" Rooks-- who plays the hard hitting and up-beat drums.

Townsend Center Hosts Jazz Festival

A successful season comes to an end for the West Georgia softball team as their hopes for a Gulf South Conference tournament appearance was put to rest after the top team in the nation swept the doubleheader this weekend. The Wolves needed just one win, but on Alabama-Hunstville's "Senior Day," the Chargers were too much to handle as they blanked the series by scores of 4-0 and 10-2.
