Big Daddies from Bioshock 2 protect the Little Sisters but players usually have to slay them in order to gain points. Big Daddies never attack unless provoked and due to their might structure and scary appearance, they could be termed as gentle giants. It is their foreboding looks that makes them look so cool, and when they are enraged, they make for a spectacle.

In fact, they make such a cool spectacle that someone decided to sculpt a tree in to a Big Daddy. All that this amazing sculptor used was a chainsaw and a tree, and after a long and arduous session, he creates what could be the coolest sculpture in the world.

The video is long and monotonous, but the transformation of a tree into a Big Daddy is quite amusing. For all the electronic gadget lovers, this retro and a practical design is just perfect for you to try and makes for a great Interactive visual presentation. This designed pole interactive installation has visuals that allow different users to play with wood pieces in a table, controlling elements projected on the floor in an appealing way.

The project by Ishac Bertran, who also brought the Linyl Light Records, was exhibited at the Final Exhibition of the Computational Design course and gives you an amazing platform for exploration. What’s interesting is that ±pole allows multiple users at a time to play with groups of particles and polarized elements by placing wood blocks on the table to control the digital elements all by themselves.

These colored visuals are developed with processing that consists of a system of particles that is affected by three types of elements controlled by wooden blocks of 3 different types: a generator that shoots the particles at a certain frequency, while attractors and deflectors create the force fields that affect the trajectories of the particles.

This cool gadget creates a complex system in real-time for experimentation while creating appealing visuals according to your own movements, just making it all the more fun. The table has a glass surface which is sandblasted to disperse the light. The visuals are captured by a camera using ReacTIVision.

You can use this gadget as a platform for your children to explore the world of science.

Standalone Tethered iPhone 3GS Jailbreak Possible with the iDongle Device?

It has been quite some time since the iPhone 3GS Jailbreak has been released, but ever since this specific jailbreak, newer iPhone 3GS models had to be connected to the computer in order to reboot and re-jailbreak their iPhone. There may be a new solution now with the new iDongle.

Preliminary Notes:

- This video was provided as a tip, so we have not tried this new iPhone 3GS jailbreak and do not know whether it does in fact work. Jailbreaking your iPhone is at your own discretion and responsibility.
- The iDongle claims to solve the tethering problem iPhone 3GS owners have had with a bootrom above 5.12.07*. It does NOT deal with jailbreaking iPhone OS 3.1.3. For the latter jailbreak, you can checkout How To Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3 with Snowbreeze.

The new iPhone iDongle is a miniature device that claims to act as your tethered connection when in need to Jailbreak your iPhone 3GS (OS 3.1.2 and below). This iDongle savior takes care of the problem iPhone 3.1.2 3GS owners (with a bootrom above 5.12.07*) have had for quite some time. Those with this current bootrom and above have witnessed the wonderful Jailbreak by GeoHot for the 3GS in an extremely easy version. The major downfall is that if a Reboot is done or a hard reset, you must ‘re-jailbreak’ your iPhone. Even worst, in order to re-jailbreak, you must hook it up to your computer. Of course, this is a pain, but in the meantime, there hasn’t been a solution to that…until the iDongle.

As can be seen in the demo video, the iDongle simply connects to your iPhone (as the iPhone USB cable), but it is wireless, portable and is powered by a 9V battery. When in need of a reboot, the iDongle goes to work and acts as the jailbreaker of the iPhone 3GS. The video shows the process working and the simplicity, but there are a few unanswered (not yet proven) things that cannot be determined from the video alone, such as Bootrom version and authenticity of the presentation.

Still, those with Jailbroken iPhone 3GS that have the newer bootrom and have experienced this frustrating tethering problem know exactly how such a device is like a miracle worker. To be able not have to be connected in order to Jailbreak?! That would simply be heaven.

The iDongle is currently in limited supplies but as mentioned in source below, it is hopefully going to reach a wider market.

Chess is one such fabulous game that plays with your mind and leaves you wondering after every move, and as of now, you can play chess on your computer, or as board game, but the creation of this Micro Processor Chess Set is a board that’s actually made out of all computer parts!

You heard it right. This Chess Board is carved out of the underside of a mother board, and 32 black microprocessor chips giving board a new texture of green with black chips attached with epoxy. To give a higher elevation to chess board, bolts are press-fitted into the chassis mount holes to imitate legs.

This beautiful concept mesmerizes me with every little piece, right from the pawns that’s made from capacitors while Rooks that are made from power transformers from CPU power supplies.

Knights, the most unpredictable character of the game gallants with the head made of inductor coils cut into a c-shape.

C.O.P. Suit for Cops Will Make Protesters Look Puzzled

Riots in public are not new and worse, they are growing year by year, and that means more time and effort of the policemen is diverted towards taking care of the public, from the public. To reduce the impact of damage and drain on the resources spent on such unproductive yet important job, the team of enthusiastic students came out with C.O.P. Suit, which will help our officers silence the public rage more effectively, and very efficiently. The source of inspiration behind the suit is the COP 15 climate summit where the first proposal came out for an innovation in this arena.

The exclusive feature of the suit is its self sustainability. Using kinetic energy as source, the suit will charge itself, reducing the burden on batteries and the like, saving on electricity. For this, the suit will convert the so called kinetic energy released from the various actions taken by the COPS in a combat. For example, forcing the armor for striking or swinging the baton in air or even thrusting the fist triumphantly into the air, all such activities help the suit in extracting energy, which is used as fuel in the speakers attached to the suit thereby saving precious electricity. What a level of creativity? A great thinking by any means! What do you say?

The suit is equipped with a armored protection sleeve and is connected with the megaphone helmet (with speakers) mounted on the top of the person wearing it. Apart from promising protection, Sleeve comes very handy (indeed) in the communication aspect. The microphone hidden in the sleeve is used to send voice commands, orders or simply throwing loud and very disturbing sounds (thanks to kinetic energy for supreme charging the speakers) to unarmored public around. Surely, the protesters are going to have hard time, not to mention the suffering on ears!

One more noticeable component of the suit – not from the protection view but rather as a message – is the artifacts on the design of the suit. It is aimed at demonstrating to the public, the similarities between the raging public and the noble police officers trying to overcome the public rage. It shows the violent nature of the riots, destruction of public property and other thematic graphics representing the outcome of riots and serves as a school of thought for people engaged in the riots and offers a reminder to re-think the outcome of the riots. Nice!

Recycled Steel Optimus Prime Transformer is Popular With the Ladies

Let’s pretend for a moment that you’ve never watched the Transformers movies, and so you’ve always wondered what exactly a real life Transformer would look like. Couple that with a green angle so that he’s made out of recycled steel, and you get this 2.5 meter tall Autobot warrior. Apparently Optimus Prime doesn’t spend all of his time fighting Decepticons and spitting out clever one-liners like “My bad,” he also keeps along a retinue of scantily clad women wherever he goes. Giant robots need love too after all, right?

His present company aside, you have to admit that this guy is pretty rocking. The replica is made out of over five thousand unique parts. All of said parts have been recycled from various sources, including TVs, cars, and a number of other industrial byproducts with no other use left other than to serve the forces of good. As you might have already guessed, the company that put this together is called Robosteel, and they can put a guardian of earth together just for you! Unfortunately the aid of outer-space robots does not come cheap, as you will have to shell out $7,500 to get your hands on one. Don’t worry, Optimus Prime is good for it…also I believe delivery is included. I know what you’re thinking, but no, the replica will not be able to drive itself. You can try to transform him manually if you want…but be sure not to let him fall on you. Something tells me this guy is not on the lighter side. I’ll have to load him up on my Wii Fit board and see what happens. Does Optimus Prime qualify as a pet?

You don’t have to worry about shoddy craftsmanship here, either; This life-size sculpture is built to withstand the test of time. When he arrives he’ll be expertly welded and polished. You can also leave Optimus out in the rain, too. A strong layer of lacquer keeps these transformers safe from the elements. No word yet on how they’ll handle a plasma blast or super-heated blade, though. I’d be willing to wager an AC130 could probably still take him out, so do be careful. Unfortunately from what I understand his harem does not come standard either, so you’ll have to find your own ladies to keep him company.
