My Father &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;lost his eyesight&lt;/span&gt; when I was just a young teen. He never had the chance to "see" me grow up. He couldn't see me get married, or see me swell up to well over 168 lbs with my first baby! I wish I didn't even have to see that!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;He lost all feeling and circulation in his feet&lt;/span&gt; and frequently got &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;sores&lt;/span&gt; on them that never quite healed correctly. We raised horses, so we would take weekend Trail Rides only to have him come home with a &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;"saddle sore"&lt;/span&gt; on  his leg or legs. They would never heal right either, so he was &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;always nursing a wound or two&lt;/span&gt;. Needless to say the riding stopped when his &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;kidney's stopped working.&lt;/span&gt; He had to go on dialysis once or twice a week (I can't remember for sure). &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Finally, his heart gave out&lt;/span&gt; and he passed. It was a long and ugly death and I have Diabetes to thank for that!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;This disease is a very nasty one&lt;/span&gt;, one where there is no cure yet. All you can do is maintain it by watching and being totally aware of everything that you eat and what's in it. Depending on which type you get you may have to inject yourself everyday with insulin, draw blood several times a day and check it, or take a pill to regulate your blood sugar. I don't know about you, but I'm spoiled, I like to eat what I want, when I want to eat it and I sure don't want to worry about checking my blood all the time! As long as I work out a little harder or longer the following day or so, I'll be okay. Can't do that when you have Diabetes. Prevention is worth a POUND of cure, I think that's the way it goes?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If eating this "stuff" is supposed to be good for your heart AND your blood sugar I'm all over it. Of course all I want to eat is &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;comfort food.&lt;/span&gt; The weather warmed up here in Northern Illinois, twice this year so far, only to have the temps fall way down over night! Tonight, in fact! I don't have any idea why I am in the upper mid west! I need to move to a warmer climate!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I guess I should be grateful, just north of us received over a foot of snow last night. Shewww, I'm glad we didn't get that here. My husband would not have minded that this year because &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;he went out and bought a snow blower!&lt;/span&gt; After at least 10 years of begging and pleading with him to get a snow blower, he finally gave up this winter and cleaned out his pockets. It was hard for him, but he did it!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;He didn't look for any deals though, heck no, he looked for the &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;meatiest, largest, meanest&lt;/span&gt; &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;looking&lt;/span&gt; snow blower he could find. I could not believe it when I saw it! The only thing missing was the turbo booster on the engine! I give it a year before he alters this thing in some way! That's just the way he is!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Why am I discussing the snow blower?&lt;/span&gt; Well, I'm really avoiding talking about &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;exercise and food control&lt;/span&gt; because like I said before, I'm suffering from cabin fever! &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Is there anyone else out there with the same problem?&lt;/span&gt; Am I all alone out there? I think I need some support now in order to get back into my exercise routine.
