I was excited for the chance to review this title in exchange for my honest opinion of the book! I grew up reading the Christy Miller series and then later the Sierra Jensen series. Departures is a story that was rediscovered by the author Robin Jones Gunn this year as she was packing up boxes to move. The story was only available for a short while and so Robin decides to make it available again. The book has 2 parts. In the first story, we follow Christy Miller as she has just said goodbye to Todd. She joins her family on a vacation back to the Midwest and we see her encounter a long lost crush. It's a fun, lighthearted story of Christy depending on the Lord and finding herself in the process. In the second story, we watch Sierra Jensen as she goes on vacation with her friend Jana. Sierra doesn't feel ready to grow up and be involved in relationships. We watch as she comes to peace with who she is and what God has in store for her. This book is a great, easy read.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'When Sparrows Fall'. The book had just the right combination of emotion from humor to grief. We follow a very young widow of six children, Miranda, as she struggles to find her place in a world of false faith. Brother in law Jack is a great character that enters the story when Miranda takes a fall and is unable to care for her children. I loved this story and the reminder that God cares for each one of HIS sparrows. Highly recommended! I was given a copy of this book for free by the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

The Dragon and the Turtle go on Safari book review

The Dragon and the turtle go on Safari is a beautifully illustrated book! The pictures are bright and colorful and very eye catching. The story is a cute tale of two friends trying to be brave enough to spend the night "camping" at the base of Mount Sillymanborrow. Through the book , different animals and circumstances scare them but they are able to get through until morning by being together.

The book has many different angles that could be talking/teaching points for children and parents. Friendship and being frightened are just a few of them. Although it is a cute book- it still was a little over my 4 year old daughters head. I found it hard to read with some of the language and words being tongue-twisty.

This book took me a little longer to read than normal as it was filled with heavy subjects. There was something about it that made me press on and I am glad I did. While slow at parts, Patricia Hickman tied up a beautiful story about forgiveness, finding joy in unexpected places (and people) and finding God's presence in the middle of pain and suffering. I enjoyed this book!

K-Mart Doubles

Sorry for the lack of posts this weekend! We had a busy few days and I just didn’t see any major deals worth posting!

K-Mart will be bringing back the doubles next week (July 7-13). Check your store to see if they are participating, or better yet, call corporate. Most stores don’t seem to know what they are doing!

You can double up to 10 coupons, 4 of the same at a time. Coupon’s up to $2.00 will be doubled to $4.00. The new thing this time is that you have to have a total of $25 before coupons. Shouldn’t be hard to do if you are using 10 coupons…

We are getting ready for vacation so I won’t be posting a K-Mart list myself this time but I will make sure to link you to some great ones as soon as they come out so that you won’t miss out!
