The Student Subscription program at Carnegie Hall means anyone with a student ID can get series tickets for as little as $10 per show. It also provides premier student seating, access to two exclusive social events per season, prequalifies to you purchase student rush tickets online, and a neighborhood student discount card.

Subscriptions to the student discount program start at $20. Harlem's Apollo Theater made headlines in January when President Obama belted out a few lines of Al Green's "Let's Stay Together" during a fundraiser there, but of course the legendary music hall has been making headlines for years. To celebrate the venue and its legacy, NYC & Company has named the Apollo Theater as February's Culture Spot, part of a monthly program designed to highlight different arts organizations around the city. All month long, visitors can receive $3 off Amateur Night performances, $5 off shows at the Apollo Music Café purchased before the day of the show, and $3 off its historic Wednesday tours.

The iconic theater first grabbed attention when it opened in 1934 and became the epicenter of African-American culture and a driving force in shaping the country's musical landscape. The theater has been host to the emergence of musical genres such as jazz, swing, bebop, R&B, gospel, blues, soul and hip-hop. Numerous musical superstars began their climb to fame on the Apollo's stage including Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday, Sammy Davis Jr., Michael Jackson, Bill Cosby, Gladys Knight, Luther Vandross, D’Angelo, Lauryn Hill and many more.

Regular events at the Apollo include the famous Amateur Night, the larger-than-life talent show where performers are rated by the cheers or boos of the audience (past participants include Ella Fitzgerald, James Brown and Stevie Wonder!). Amateur Night is held Wednesdays at 7:30pm, and kicks off the season Feb. 1 with special guest Jennifer Holliday — the original Dreamgirl from the Broadway show — singing “And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going." On Feb. 3-5, the theater will hold an open house weekend in collaboration with Carnegie Hall's Neighborhood Concert Series, where visitors can experience the theater's history through film clips, shorts, tours, exhibition panels and a community sing-along hosted by 10-time Grammy winner Christian jazz vocal group Take 6.
