PS3 Beatles: Rock Band DLC crashing game’s servers overseas

European owners of the PS3 version of The Beatles: Rock Band who decided to purchase the "Abbey Road" DLC are having an awfully difficult time coming together. A lengthy forum thread on the Rock Band message board tells of the woes of a number of overseas faux-rockers who, after downloading the content on their PS3, have lost the ability to access any of the game's online modes.

A Harmonix developer responded to the complaints, asking for the specific circumstances of these server crashes and promising that the Beatles team is "investigating this issue to try to find out what's going on." That is to say, the Beatles: Rock Band development team -- not the Beatles themselves. We imagine they're a little too busy for this kind of thing.

Halfbrick reveals price and date for Echoes, a new PSP Mini

Ever have one of those days when you're up really late, just lookin' at art, and then you end up getting sucked into a dreamworld where you have to run through a series of levels based on surrealistic paintings, collecting crystals while avoiding nightmarish monsters? It's an extraordinarily relatable experience, and one that's serving as the premise for Halfbrick's soon-to-be-released PSP Mini titled Echoes.

A recent press release from Halfbrick has revealed a Nov. 19 release date for the game, which will sell for the low, low price of $2.99. If you're curious what being inside a painting feels like, check out the game's debut trailer, which we've posted after the jump. Otherwise, just load up this image and put your face really close to the screen.

The Onion has the WORLD EXCLUSIVE first details of Modern Warfare 3, which developer Infinity Ward is apparently putting the "final touches on." There's so much scrumptious information in the Onion report, it's almost like the respected media source made the whole thing up.

Modern Warfare 3 will blow away its predecessor in the realism department, being the most "true to life" installment of the game ever produced. A "majority" of gameplay will have players hauling equipment, cleaning vehicles, experiencing home sickness and "filling out paperwork." Check out the full report after the break. We're so bummed we weren't invited to the reveal junket, which had journalists sleeping in the Pentagon and being briefed in "the war room" (which actually has a sign: "No Fighting Allowed!").

Disabled Gamer Sues Sony

A disabled, visually-impaired gamer has filed suit against Sony Corporation of America, Sony Computer Entertainment America and Sony Online Entertainment claiming that the defendants are denying people with disabilities equal access to their goods and services.

The suit was filed by plaintiff Alexander Stern on October 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Stern seeks to “put an end to systemic civil rights violations” allegedly perpetrated by the defendants.

Stern claims to have sent both physical and electronic mail to officials at Sony requesting “minor modifications” that would remove the barrier to gaming for disabled people. In the complaint, Stern says that a Sony representative told him that “Sony would not offer any modifications whatsoever for persons with disabilities.”

Among other actions, Stern is seeking an injunction to prohibit Sony from violating the Americans with Disabilities Act, a declaration that Sony owns, operates and maintains equipment that discriminates against the disabled, unspecified damages and to have his lawyer’s fees and expenses paid for.

The plaintiff added in the complaint that games such as World of Warcraft do support access by disabled and/or visually impaired people by “providing visual cues through several simple third-party modifications.” Stern notes that other accessibility features are available and have been implemented by “companies whose resources pale in comparison with Sony’s.”

The suit also names “Does 1 through 10,” as the plaintiff “does not presently know the true names and capacities of the defendants.”

The Wizards of the Coast have reveals that Magic: The Gathering – Duels of the Planeswalkers will be coming to the PlayStation Network in the Fall of 2010 - and the XBLA version will receive new downloadable content too.

In both the Spring and Summer of 2010 the Xbox Live Arcade will receive two pieces of Magic DLC, and will feature new cards, puzzles, Planeswalkers and some surprised to go along with them. The PlayStation Network version will be basically the same as the Xbox Live Arcade version.

Medal of Honor and Other EA “Core IPs” to be Revitalized

Long before there was Call of Duty, Medal of Honor was the preeminent World War II first-person shooter series. Over the years, it's fallen by the wayside, and it's been over two years since the last game in the series was released. During an EA investor call today, Frank Gibeau, president of the EA Games label, mentioned a "revitalization" of the Medal of Honor series that would soon be shown, reports G4tv.com. He didn't go into any details of exactly what that revitalization would include or when we'll hear more (though G4 infers that we'll hear about it in 2010), except that it's similar to what the Need for Speed series went through.

Medal of Honor might not be the only EA series to undergo such a process. Other "core IPs" from EA will also likely be given a similar treatment to NFS.

Any guesses as to what other series EA may have in mind? Other than an iPhone iteration, it's been a while since we heard from SSX.

Borderlands’ Undead DLC Coming Nov. 24

Gearbox Software's Borderlands will expand its borders on November 24, with the release of The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, the game's previously announced downloadable expansion, the one that puts a little check mark in the now-obligatory "Has zombies." box.

The first in a series of downloadable content packs for the multi-platform game will arrive on November 24 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, priced at $9.99 USD or 800 Microsoft Points, depending on how you spend. Details on the same content for the PC version were not provided, but 2K Games reps say "We will have more information for the PC version at a later date."

The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned features "ferocious brain-eating zombies, carnivorous Were-Skags and more," if that'll get you to venture into the Borderlands again later this month.

ESRB: Uncharted, PAIN and more become Pinball Heroes on PSP

This probably wasn't what fans had in mind when they demanded an Uncharted game for Sony's handheld. A series of new ESRB ratings reveals a new pinball franchise, most likely under the PSP Minis label, based on various first-party PlayStation properties. Pinball Heroes: Uncharted is the most noteworthy of the bunch which according to the ESRB descriptor, is based on Drake's Fortune. "Players use flippers to hit the ball around a crashed airplane, into silhouetted character targets, and off bumpers shaped like gold coins to score points."

In addition to Uncharted, other franchises will be getting the pinball treatment, including High Velocity Bowling, PAIN and Hot Shots Golf. Wait, no Pinball Heroes: God of War? That's a missed opportunity!

Unfortunately, no further details of the Pinball Heroes franchise can be garnered from the ESRB listings. We're submitting a few questions to Sony (like "how much?" and "why?") and will update when we hear back.

Tecmo's trying to fill the arcade-basketball-shaped hole in your heart left by NBA Street with NBA Unrivaled, a retro hoops release from developer A.C.R.O.N.Y.M. Games. Though the cleverly-named company is relatively new on the scene, it has experience to draw on after helping Sony build NBA '08: The Life.

We're happy to see some fun-loving 5-on-5 take the court, but we're a little nervous about how quickly the game's sneaked up on us: It's arriving this Wednesday on XBLA, and later on PSN, barely enough time to get our sneakers laced up.
