I'd never really thought about checking the astrology of someone not yet present, but sure enough you can do it. Other than babies on the way, apparently some writers like to do the charts on their characters and I suppose those that believe strongly in reincarnation might like to check their options ahead of time...

My apologies if the post title now has "Eye of the Tiger" running through your head;-) And I realize I'm mixing metaphors here, but doesn't it seem significant that Chinese New Year lands on Valentine's Day in 2010? The Year of the Tiger commences on 2/14/2010 and those that like to forecast are already getting prepared - there's a good overview here on CafeAstrology. It's sounding like an interesting year ahead for everybody.

Just like the controversy over opening Christmas presents on the morning of, versus the night before there are families that believe in going around the table and saying what you're thankful for on Thanksgiving and those that don't. Personally, I fall into the latter category and feel a great deal of pressure to be original if I get trapped into this particular tradition at someone else's house. I'm rarely feeling very grateful at the point in time when someone says the answer I was about to give and had to struggle to come up with in the first place.

So if you fall into that camp, here's a handy guide of what to say based on your zodiac sign, so as long as the guests' birthdays are spread out and they haven't read the same article, you should be able to gaze on the turkey tomorrow with peace.

I'm always fascinated by things that seem to develop in multiple cultures without coming into contact with one another. For example, fortune telling using playing cards, tarot cards, tiles or other sets where the person seeking a reading randomly picks and thus reveals answers to their question. The European versions are common and easy to find but how about this Japanese version?

Yes, really - you can no longer be discriminated against for your belief in psychics, at least not legally in Britain due to a landmark courtcase. I'm surprised this didn't come first in California but perhaps it's too mainstream there to be controversial.

Ok, this is a little off the normal track, but it's good to switch things up once in awhile. There's a new pc adventure game that uses tarot cards as critical clues and overall looks like one of those cozy mysteries come to life. You can play it for one hour for free on the game website - after that if you want to continue you'll need to pay to download it which seems fair.

If you're a regular reader, you've probably figured out that when it comes to psychics and astrology I'm a firm believer in the entertainment value and reserving judgment as to their accuracy. The same holds true for my personal experiences but something made me go the extra mile last weekend to see if I can locate the soulmate predicted by a psychic three years ago. I decided to let go of any dignity and put up a blog with everything I know about this potential person. The amount of detail the psychic gave was disconcerting but that doesn't mean it adds up to a real person that will come into my life. It would sure be nice, though! While I thought Domino's ad campaign was kinda quirky and amusing, I'm thinking Astrology.com's Food Scopes are taking things a bit too far. What if Aries doesn't have time to make an Irish stew today or Aquarians aren't in the mood to lecture people about their cholesterol? Horoscopes are fun and sometimes insightful but shouldn't run your life!

It might be worth a listen, eh? A collection (as opposed to a CD) of music will be released one song at a time online and completely free, not even an email address required. All are apparently based on key figures of the tarot deck - not sure if that will be obvious but could be entertaining. The price is definitely right!

Have you seen the movie or trailer, "Men Who Stare at Goats"? While the movie is based on book by Jon Ronson which says it is a true story of a military project started in 1979, there have been other stories of military projects based on remote viewing and other psi skills. Under the umbrella name, Stargate Project and have gotten more press in the last few years with the publication of The Stargate Chronicles by Joseph McMoneagle who claims to have been one of the participants.

Have you ever encountered one of those quick fill in your birth date gadgets on a website and then seen it on ten other websites after that? It happens for obvious marketing reasons and most of them are fairly cut and dried. But what about African astrology? or Japanese astrology? or flower and fruit astrology? Apparently it really pays to be psychic, even after death. It's been a few months but here are the highlights of the auction. Someone really wanted that crystal ball! It fascinates me that this isn't just an American thing, or a European thing, but rather seems to have followers within each society of the world.

Despite all the psychics claiming to have talked to Michael Jackson immediately after death, nobody is claiming to have talked to Ms. Dixon in the 12 years that she's been gone (at least not loudly enough to make it into Google's search results)
