Today we removed the two containers at the top of this
page, and we did this to make room for the actual feed container — the
blue one with this feed item in it. This should either eliminate the need to
scroll down altogether, or at least reduce it for you.

We also added some experimental JavaScript lines to move the footer to the
bottom of the page, for shorter pages. Please note that this JavaScript was
specifically written for Mozilla browsers, and there might be better ways to
achieve this, but we are unaware of such code.

The ad link module at the top of the feed container should also be a bit less
intrusive, at least that is how we see it and hope that you share our opinion.

We also removed that ugly spot at the far right side of the feed container,
which previously triggered the horizontal scroll bar. Yes. Much better this
way. Other things on our todo list for the website include: polish more pages
and to improve some of the previously polished pages.

More importantly: The list with ideas and set priorities
for the new and improved MultiZilla gets longer and longer — don't miss
anything of the good news… keep an eye on <a class="plain"

We keep improve our website, but things are not going
as fast as usual. One of the reasons is that our friend and webmaster Raj
Bhaskar is unavailable due to family matters — our prayers go out to Raj
and his family.

The other reason is the amount of work to be done. Which is simply too much
for one person to complete in two or three weeks — we recently decided to
extend it and stay focused on the website for the rest of April.

This also means that a lot of the pages we've changed recently, and I'm not
talking about the addition of the ad space here, have changed for the better.
Let's have a look at our new and improved Installation Page. Not only did we
remove most of the old text, but a large block of text (Tip & Troubleshooting)
will now only be included when you need it. Thanks to AJAX.

We replaced our old archive with a new Download Archive. The new page
also uses AJAX, and more and more pages will be using it — at least five
more pages (About our website, Project Team Blog, Feedback, FAQs and this page)
are scheduled to change later this month.

We have a new button to subscribe to feeds, and the feeds are now also
available from feedburner.com (just follow the buttons).

We just finished one of the biggest CVS commits for the
website in the MultiZilla history — almost all of our HTML files have been
cleaned up and modified. This means that you might experience some difficulties,
and in case you do… please e-mail HJ van Rantwijk so that he can fix it.
Thank you very much.

This is only phase one of our work, and thus we will change more soon —
make sure to visit us on a regular basis. Please note that more technical info
about the changes can be found in the project team weblog.

Are we going to make it...

We are becoming closer to our target. The main idea was
to cleanup our pages, and to allow Google ads to be displayed. We only need to
polish a few more pages, which we hope to finish later today. Seems like we
are going to make it; time to go nuts and start hacking again.

The next change will be a rather important one. That's when we will add a
few third party scripts (JavaScript) to make things even nicer. All I can say
for now is this: “Viewing screen shots has never been this nice on our
website.” But there's more to it. Trust me.

Note: Please reload pages that look wrong — this is
due to the fact that we are changing our pages (both layout and text).

ps: Do you have ideas to improve our website? Great! Don't
be shy, and don't hesitate to contact us. Thank you.

New and improved layout...

We are happy to announce that we finished our work for
the new layout for the HTML editions of our feeds. And this is it. There's one
catch however, and that is that the pages now need JavaScript — and thus
you won't be able to select articles from the list without JavaScript.

I would say that all hard work has payed off. Hasn't it? The result is much
cleaner, less clutter. Much better to read. And you can subscribe by clicking
on the orange feed icon. What more do you need?

Let me re-itterate that comments are top priority for us. It's just a matter
of time now, but we rather update and release a new version of MultiZilla
first.

We have updated our privacy statement...

We have updated our privacy statement because a number
of our pages now serve Google ads. Some ads are based primarily on your search
queries or on the content of the page you are viewing. Other ads will be
tailored to your interests, that is if you haven't already opt-out from this
here.

Some people don't like Google's interest based advertising, but it can also
be quite useful - we found a number of interesting links that we would not have
found without searching for it. Again do not fear because you can easily opt-out
— we know, it should have been opt-in but it isn't.

New menu...

Ladies and gentlemen: we have a new menu. This is the
first visual change to the website. You might need some time to get used to it.
Just give it some time.

All pages had to be re-checked (on-line HTML validation) because we changed
the menu - Raj and Michael have done an amazing job and thus I only had to fix a
few minor typos. Thank you guys!

Time for me to add the search box (we already had it up and running, but we
had to complete the menu changes first).

We are currently working on cleanups and other site
related work like (re)moving menu items. The idea is to have a cleaner menu
(less is better) and better page layout — the current layout was developed
in 2007 (as a test) and will be replaced with something cleaner and easier to
read. We also plan to add a search box, just above the menu, to make finding
pages and what not even easier.

Some of you might be surprised to see us working here, especially after a
long void, but all we can tell you is that 'something' is coming. And that
"it" will be “pretty spectacular again” — thanks to Apple Inc.
for inspiring us (working with a new OS is such a great inspiration).
