I had a 3 hour 48 minute conversation with my cousin James in Austin, Texas yesterday morning. We both should have been working on our respective businesses, but we hadn’t really talked in so long we said to hell with it.

The freedom to have a flexible, self determined schedule is one of the main resons we work so hard to build a successful home business in the first place isn’t it?

What really stuck in my mind was when he said, “…you know Hark, I’ve been working my ass off in this field for 25 years now. Since I was a 17 year old kid who was always told by everybody that I didn’t have the “ear” to be a recording studio engineer and music producer.”

He was right. Nobody ever thought he had the natural talent to become a decent engineer, much less a producer. Even I secretly questioned it.

But he was a stubborn jackass. No matter what anybody said about his performance, no matter how much money he didn’t have, no matter how much the odds seemed to be stacked against him, he kept on going. I remember him living in the YMCA for a while, and even sleeping in his car a couple of times. But the stubborn idiot wouldn’t quit.

And he made it.

Twenty-five years later he is about to retire in 9 months at the tender age of 41 years old.

What’s he gonna do now? Who knows? Whatever he wants. That’s exactly what retirement is all about. Doing whatever YOU wanna do.

Now the reason I’m sharing this conversation with you is probably obvious at this point isn’t it? It’s not to give my cousin props. What the hell do you care?

The bottom line is:  if you want to beat the odds and not end up like 98 out 100 other home business owners — some sad ass loser telling everyone in hearing range at parties, “Yeah, I tried that network marketing thing once. It’s a tough racket. Didn’t work;” you’re going to have to make your mind up right now that you’re going to do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes, until you’re living the life you decide you’re worth. Not your friends. Not your boss.

Look, I know it’s almost become passe’ to focus on the importance of the mental side of the game now that everybody’s looking for the magical, secret technique that brings success, but too bad. Believe me, no one endorses taking action more than I do, but the problem is; you can do everything right, but if you don’t do it long enough, it won’t produce a damn thing for you.

That’s why I get so upset when I see so-called leaders in this industry prodding hard working and well intentioned networkers on to keep doing more and more of the wrong actions, sometimes knowingly. They’re betting your going to quit in 45 days anyway, so why bother letting you in on the real deal? It absolutely disgusts me, ’cause I used to be one of those hard working and well meaning, but misguided, home business owners.

The truth is what it is, whether it’s in vogue or not. So let me tell what I know from personal experience; you will never outearn your self image, and you will never “out act” a lack of undying committment.

I chose those words for a purpose. You must have undying committment. My father called it unbending intent. Do you have it?

When you write down or speak aloud your goals, how do they read? Here’s a tip: replace the word “want” with the word “must.” Feel the difference when you speak them then.

That’s when the turning point happened for me. My wife was being harrassed unfairly at her job. She was sometimes calling me on her breaks crying into the phone. Do you know how that feels! I felt her pain burning in my gut.

The last time she did it, something snapped in me. I was done.

I went from “I want to give my wife the option of working only if she wants to,” to: “I must give my wife the option of working only if she wants to, because those bastards at her job are taking years off of her life!”

90 days later I made the most money in one month I ever had in my life… and my wife’s option became a reality.

It didn’t happen because I wished upon a star. I worked literally all night sometimes, sometimes my wife woke me up still in my office chair; but it didn’t start until I got stubborn and made up my mind. I “refused to lose,” as Chuck D. put it. That laser foucsed, “productively obssessed” state of mind is where my personal tagline originated from: Live Luxe… Or Die. That’s how deadly serious I was.

And that’s how deadly serious you have to be if you really want to achieve your personal goals through your home business opportunity. Get mad about the things you and your loved ones deserve but can’t do or have until you reach your goal! Get committed like a soldier vowing to return home alive to their family.

Become a stubborn jackass friend.

Literally refuse to fail. That’s where the power to literally bend the universe to materialize your desires comes from. Keep fighting and working at building your dream lifestyle, no matter what it takes, no matter how long it takes, no matter how hard it is, no matter who says you can’t do it, until you get there.

Or join the other “ex-business owner” losers talking shit at the company Christmas party and hoping to get on the bosses “good side” so maybe they’ll get a 2% raise.

I promise you if you’re stubborn enough not to quit or procrastinate, when you get there, it will be worth it.

Yeah, I know.  Is your bottom lip on the floor?

Are you hyperventilating yet?  

Yeah, I know, it’s blasphemy right? Well, you may feel that way, but it doesn’t change reality:  Magnetic Sponsoring and attraction marketing is destroying the MLM and network marketing industry.

Now before you begin drafting a request to Mike to ban me from betternetworker.com; save your time.  Mike knows I love him.  You can call him and ask him.  He’ll tell you I’m his biggest fan, and he’s got the e-mails to prove it.

His status as one of the true experts and transformational leaders in the home networking industry is beyond reproach, and Magnetic Sponsoring arguably has been the cause of the single biggest paradigm shift in the mlm and network marketing industry in the last 50 years.  I know for me it was THE catalyst; the marker point that started my transformation from struggling and hard working but broke network marketer; to six-figure home business mogul, and there are a lot of other top earners in this industry that will say the same thing.

But like all innovations that bring about revolutionary shifts, has become both the blessing and the curse of the home business industry; and the following scene illustrates how much better than I could ever say:

 This morning my wife came out of the shower to find me not only awake earlier than normal, but also on my laptop furiously going through my Facebook inbox, looking for a reply from my friend and colleague, Cesar Fasano.   We’d chatted the night before and I figured he’d probably sent me a response at some point during the wee hours of the night.   Wifey bent down to kiss me, took one look at my bulging, almost 5-figure strong inbox, and let out a shriek.

“Oh my God, how you find anything buried under all those junk e-mails!  Are all those people trying to get you to join their MLM business?!”

My right eyebrow jumped up 2 inches on its own like The Rock’s.  “Yep.”

She looked at me like I’d just told her I wanted to go see the movie “Valentine’s Day.”

“See, I don’t get what it is you all are trying to accomplish if everybody’s just trying to recruit everybody else into their own network marketing business.” 

This time I one word reply came along with a big grin; “Exactly.”

And therein lies the problem, and that’s exactly why Magnetic Sponsoring in specific, and attraction marketing in general is destroying the MLM and network marketing industry.   Like with most great philosophies; the problem isn’t with the philosophy, the problem is with human nature.  We hear what we want to hear, and conveniently “miss” the stuff we find less palatable.

All the would-be millionaire networkers read magnetic sponsoring and they heard Mike say the hottest target market to find prospects for your own business is current network marketers. They heard Mike say “attract prospects to you, and into your business, by showing you are a leader and offering them value.” 

Sounds fantastic doesn’t it?  Fast, easy, and painless.  No rejection, no talking on the phone.  Sweeet!

But those networkers missed the part where Mike said that building up your Rolodex of other network marketers you have a relationship with is a long-term strategy, and that it could be 3 to 5 years before it really pays off.  Networkers decide to move to a new opportunity and come to you as leader they want to join in their time, not yours.

They discarded Mike’s assertion that the only way to be seen as a leader and truly offer value to other networkers is to invest the time, effort, and yes, money, to learn and master the skills that 98% of the others won’t.

And based on the current deluge of daily, unsolicited biz opp pitches in my email box; they definitely weren’t listening when Mike told them that the only true moneymaking activities in network marketing are when you’re speaking on the phone with prospects to qualify them to join your business, or when you’re sending an e-mail to the people on your subscriber list (that you’ve built a relationship with) and inviting them to join your business organization or take some other action that will put money in your pocket.   

The bottom line is this; all the necessary stuff you need to do to actually Magnetic Sponsoring work is outside of our comfort zone, and deep down that’s what most of us will do anything to stay inside of.  So many networkers have instead traded the old pipe dream of “get three, who get three…,” for the new pipe dream of, “get free leads through attraction marketing with no effort and zero human contact while you play golf.” 

Hmmm.  Isn’t that interesting? (R.I.P. Jim Rohn.)

Back to the scene:  My wife:  “So, you don’t do that all day to other networkers right?”

Me:  “Nope.”

“So then how do you have so many people joining?”

My mischievous smile returned. “BECAUSE I don’t do that. I do the opposite.  I do all the uncomfortable stuff the people clogging up my inbox aren’t willing to.

Look I’m not telling you this to blow my own horn or say I’m the greatest.  Truth is, every other long-term top earner in the home business industry is doing the same things. It all comes down to what my boy Cesar said in his reply I finally found after 15 or 20 minutes; “Man, when will marketers learn real skills?” 

Good question. 

A better one is:  how many flavor of the month, “quick results” tricks and shortcuts will we try before we decide to just do the work?  Which is always the only true way to success in a home business.

If you haven’t read Magnetic Sponsoring yet, do so.  NOW.  If you have read it, and you can’t say to yourself, right now, today, that you have reached the level of success you want, my advice is to go back and read it again.  Then do exactly what it says;  Not just what seems the easiest. 

Or you can keep cloggin up people’s email accounts and “playin’ the mlm lottery;”  i.e.:  HOPING to luck up on some income.  

I sure hope not.  I’ve got a bunch more income-producing emails, buried somewhere under the junk in my inbox, to find.

Then of course, there are the “Hey loser; come get rich in mlm / network marketing by being one of the first to join with me in this new ground-floor, pre-launch home business opportunity!” gurus.  These cats generally have a new pitch to join a “New ground floor, pre-launch in the greatest mlm / network marketing opportunity to ever be launched…” blasting out to unsuspecting, would be mlm millionaires desperate for hope about once every 90 days.

And we can’t forget the good, old fashioned flat out haters who scream “No! No! NO!” endlessly and have made it their life’s work to prove that all mlm and network marketing business opportunities are the sleaziest pyramid scams ever known to mankind… whether it’s actually true or not.

Well, the honest, 100% B.S. free answer is that in today’s Information Age;  how, and whether, and how well an mlm or network marketing home business works depends on how and whether and how smart you work.

What I’ve personally discovered through a ton of trial and error, business failures, lost time, money, and cool points, foreclosed houses, repo’d cars, torched credit ratings, and finally 6-figure success is; if you want the fastest, most profitable results from an mlm or network marketing home based business in today’s sophisticated, jaded, hype weary environment, here are the 7 master keys that must be present:

1. You need to use the leverage of the internet.

2. You need to market products that have a true market independent and outside of your business opportunity.

3. You need to use automation.

4. You need REAL, proven marketing methods with predictable metrics.

5. You MUST be able to generate from your own efforts, enough income from your home business to cover your advertising, marketing, and business building expenses. Whether you have a “downline” or not.

6. You need a community of already successful sponsors and mentors to show you exactly what to do (not just feed you motivational speeches and sell you dreams).

7. You need to develop and master the skills that most home business owners and network marketers aren’t willing to spend the time or money to learn.

Once I found the perfect marriage of all these things in my own home based networking business, I was able to build an extremely succesful business that generates maximum profit with minimum effort and is actually FUN to operate (all primary requirements of a rather lazy hedonist like myself.) 

Look, I know most so called home business “leaders” and “Gurus” are to0 P.C. to risk rubbing anybody the wrong way with any statements that take a stand one way or another, even if they are uncomfortable truths, (i.e.: scared to alienate themselves from a single person they think they might be able to squeeze a buck out of somehow in the future) but I highly recommend you not start or continue investing your time and money in ANY home business venture or system without making sure it can deliver every one of the above. 

Unless, as one of my colleagues often says, you just plan to run a “non-profit home business from the dis-comfort of your own home.”

If so, you’ve got nothing to worry about.  You’re going to find succeeding a piece of cake, and you’ll get no competition from me baby.

Recently, I’ve had a bunch of very sharp but puzzled and frustrated aspiring MLM and network marketing leaders and entrepreneurs asking me for the answer to the same damning question about leadership and leadership strategy: 

“How do I  become the type of leader that attracts the best prospects to themselves like blondes to pro athletes?”

Thing is, they want the “straight with no chaser”, 100% bullshit free answer sans the obligatory pitch to join the newest mlm company pre-launch.  You know, the one “…guaranteed to be the biggest MLM Pre-Launch in history!” (Insert picture here of happy person on beach downloaded from google images) 

And you know what?  That’s exactly the criteria they should demand because this topic is too important to your financial future to play around with. 

Plain and simple, if you don’t get this down, you’re gonna be a broke home business owner.  No two ways about it.

Luckily, revealing the unadulterated truth about what it takes to really get paid out the frame in this industry (even if — no, especially if it ruffles some feathers) is my specialty.

So here’s the deal:  There are 5 critical steps to becoming not just a leader in the MLM/Network Marketing industry, but a leader that leads, prospects, and other network marketers will literally fight and beg to join. 

And step one is so simple you’re going to have a hard time believing it.

So, to make it worth your while to trust me on this, first let’s look at what being that type of leader actually looks and feels like in your home business? 

Well, imagine every morning when you wake up around 9:40am, after you check your bank account to see that a couple hundred or so of new dead presidents was direct deposited into it while you slept, you pull up the back office of you primary business opportunity and your personal email.

The numbers in your back office inform you that 1 to 3 new people you’ve never even spoken to joined your downline since yesterday, and you’ve got 5 to 12 emails from others asking you questions about joining your team.  

How do you think the rest of your day will go from there?

Yeah, damn right it’s sweet!  I can tell you personally because this is my normal daily experience nowadays (and several other leaders I know are doing even better) and, considering the alternative of chasing around people only to be painfully rejected like an insurance salesman at your door on Super Bowl Sunday, I ain’t never going back.

Anyway, the first, unbelievably simple step to becoming a leader that others beg to join is…

Step 1:  Declare Yourself A Leader.

Sounds TOO simple doesn’t it?  But that’s what it is.

The first step is that you have to decide right now that you are a leader that people want to join.  

Now of course there’s a lot more to it, but no matter what anyone else tells you, you won’t be able to complete any of the other steps that come after until you take this one. 

That said, don’t be so quick to roll your eyes or start putting in your order for the Aston Martin DBS just yet.  It may not be as easy as it sounds.  This short stoory will explain why…

I can still remember the twisting pain in my gut, the looks of doubt and sometimes disgust from people I loved and cared about, the behind my back (and sometimes to my face) ridicule from friends and co-workers, and the hours of blood sweat and tears spent laboring away in my mlm / network marketing home based business.

Oh, yeah, and I remember another thing too…  I was making any goddamned real money to show for all that torture I was putting myself through.

If you’re saying “amen” right now to how I felt then maybe more than you care to admit, don’t feel bad, and don’t give up hope.

Every mlmer or network marketer or home business owner I’ve ever met who’s become extremely successful has always faced “The Problem” at least once (and usually more) in their career before they got to the financial freedom, glamour, big checks, and near celebrity status that often becomes your reality when you breakthrough to the elite level in mlm / network marketing.

What’s “The Problem?”; 

It’s that one big, ugly, painful, hair pulling out level frustrating, obstacle that you run into in your mlm or network marketing business that drives you to the point of wanting to slide a 45 caliber weapon into your mouth and end it all.

My “Big Problem” at that time was that I just couldn’t figure out how to find good prospects to promote my business opportunity to in the so-called “Cold Market” (people you don’t know.)

See, I’d already burned through (and destroyed quite a few relationships in) my “Warm Market” (people you do know). 

You know what I mean.  All the people on that damn list your sponsor probably insisted you make when you joined your business, and you dreaded contacting?

Look, I tried every - damn - thing.

I tried passing out my company created marketing magazines, CDs, and DVDs to strangers…  result:  got me dissed more times than I care to remember and permanently ejected from a few shopping malls.

I tried buying leads and that was disastrous… and hazardous to my financial health. (Thousands of dollars spent on leads that maybe ended up generating a total of $378 bucks.  See something wrong with that picture?) 

Finally I came across a 26 year old genius’s groundbreaking book, and was put on the path that eventually led to me taking up my current residence in what I affectionately call “The Luxe Life”, but I never forgot what the suffocating frustration of those days felt like.

I was especially reminded yesterday when I called to say “whassup” to an old friend who’d actually been in the mlm game much longer than me. 

Just minutes after he said “Hello”, he let me know that he’d officially given up, and retreated with his tail between his legs and his big dreams of granduier apparently deposited snuggly up his ass.  Back to the world of low paying jobs and hate for people who didn’t give up. 

After I’d listened to as much of his blaming and excuses as I could without vomiting all over the freshly detailed interior of my ride, (those of you who know how much I love my restored ‘94 Infiniti J30 know I wasn’t about to let that shit happen) I all but hung up on him.

His acceptance of defeat was pathetic to me.  I just couldn’t handle it.  But again, it reminded me of just how tough “The Problem” can be. 

So…

I wanna do something to help someone else who might be ready to just throw in the towel and become Homer Simpson like my boy.

"I Pimps MLM Blogs Hard Evil Doers! Holla At Ya Prez!"

 

Because there’s very little I’m more passionate about than helping other determined home business owners make their way through the minefield that is today’s Information Age MLM / network marketing without getting their appendages blown off, nothing inspires me more than when I hear from one of you guys from around the world. 

 

So when I got an e-mail recently from Robert Bucci, a sharp minded network marketer and beginning blogger, asking me for more new blog posts, expressing concern about other people “hijacking” my mlm blog, and asking if I have any suggestions for him on getting his own blog off the ground, I figured I’d post the answer here, so that I can help anyone else who might have had these questions and concerns and couldn’t get through to me.

 

So Robert, thanks for the email and the support, and…

 

Here’s The Real Deal, No Bullshit, Lowdown On How To Pimp An MLM Blog For FREE… 6-figure, ‘BadBoy Genius’ style.

 

Now the very first and most important thing you have to get nailed down before you set up your mlm blog, is exactly what its purpose will be.  What function do you want it to perform for you and your business?

 

Here’s where a lot of cats fall on their face, because they’ve got a faulty premise for their blog from the very beginning.

 

Regardless of all the noise going on around the Internet about using your blog to make $40,000 per day while you sit around playing Halo 3 on Xbox live, for the big-money leaders in the MLM / network marketing game, your blog should perform three main functions:

 

1.  It should publicize your persona, knowledge, and know-how as a leader. – be yourself, be truthful, talk straight and candidly, give up the good stuff in tips, and unpucker your asshole and have a sense of humor.

 

2.  It should allow you to attract and connect with other people who are kindred spirits.  People who vibrate on the same wavelength.  People who feel your unique, personal philosophy and style speaks to their soul. – write your posts with your target audience in the front of your mind.  Imagine you are having a face to face talk with them individually and don’t hold anything back.

 

3.  It should directly and indirectly help build the size of your list, and guide people towards other websites and resources you have, so you can further build and deepen a mutually beneficial relationship. – consider using a pop up or stationary opt-in box to your autoresponder or newsletter on your blog pages, as well as links to your other resources.

 

Now I know you might be thinking I left some stuff out.  “What about adsense?  What about affiliate banners and links?” 

 

Well, it might feel counterintuitive, and it definitely runs counter to all the “get rich quick with your blog” hype that bombards you every day, but consider this:  Instead of thinking about what you can gain and take, use your blog to give away as much value to people who are hungry for it as you can. 

 

This is one of the key lessons I was taught by one of my own mentors, (who pulled down over $7 million in the last 15 months) and since I’ve been approaching it that way I haven’t been doing too bad either. 

 

Let’s just say it feels damn good to be able to go shopping and buy my new wifey pretty much whatever she wants without looking at the prices.  Sweeeet!

 

Look, give massive value to others freely without worrying about receiving in return, and I guarantee you’ll never lose.  For what ever reason, this is just a universal law.

 

Which takes us logically to the next critical thing about your blog:  don’t post garbage on it.

 

Only post the most valuable information that you feel your readers will be interested in first, then think about what you care about second.  If you can’t be put to use in your readers lives and businesses don’t post it.

 

“Ooooh, your little puppy took its first pooh-pooh on the newspaper today?” 

 

Who gives a shit? 

 

Post that crap on your MySpace or Facebook page, or Twitter somebody who has so little life of their own that they care about your dog’s bowel movements.

 

Use your MLM themed blog to share some information that someone else can use to generate the income necessary to live their own dream lifestyle, then they can sit home all day videotaping and contemplating the finer points of canine defecation.

 

This brings me to another concern Robert had in his e-mail to me.  He wrote “… some folks are hijacking your blog by entering self-serving comments just to sell their own product…”

 

Trust me, don’t worry about this stuff.  Remember what I said about universal law?  Well, you cannot outrun or outsmart your Karma.  You will reap what you sow. 

 

People who are doing that type of junk  –  trying to trade lumps of coal for two carat diamonds. Tryin’to hustle their way to wealth  –  they’ll never prosper. 

 

I’ve seen it over and over.  Don’t even waste time and energy focusing on it.  Just stay focused on what you want, not what you don’t want.

 

 

The Almighty ‘T’ Word

 

Now getting traffic to your blog is a subject experts routinely teach 3 day seminars about at $5,000 bucks per head, but let me give you some of the 20% action to get you 80% of the results, (which is the slight edge lazy millionaires are always looking for anyway.)

 

One of most important things to consider is the name, and specifically the domain name, you choose for your blog. 

 

It’s not absolutely essential, but you give yourself a huge advantage if they both contain the main keywords that people who would be interested in your blog are most likely searching for. 

 

Secondly, be sure you use keywords inside your blog posts that match the subject matter of the post.  The best way to get ideas on these for free is to use Google’s keyword tool. 

 

Just google “adwords keyword tool” and you’ll find it easily. 

 

Here you can type in one keyword you think people might be searching for, and it will give you bunches more that are related to it.  Then you use these as much as makes sense in your posts. 

 

But let me caution you on something here;  Remember I said don’t post garbage? 

 

Don’t just throw up some bullshit, nonsense posts packed with a bunch of keywords to try to get traffic you can peddle your affiliate banner offers and links to.  Even if you do get the traffic, the people who come ain’t gonna stay, and they’re never coming back because your blog posts will be worthless to ‘em.

 

Forget chasin’ the short money.  Give value.  Connect.  Build relationships.

 

What I can tell you is that the easiest way I’ve found to get rollin’ with a fully Google and SEO optimized blog for free, in like 10 minutes, is using the Free Expert Wordpress download. So there’s a big tip for you Robert. 

 

When you go to download the free version, you can check out the additional benefits of their paid extra support services if you want.  I got the extras cause it’s extremely useful if you’re serious, and it’s like a one-time, lifetime cost of $49 bucks or something ridiculously cheap like that, but you don’t have to get it to take advantage of Expert Wordpress.

 

Either way, just 3 clicks and you’re up and running, and if you start posting using the guidelines I’ve talked about here, you will get traffic with your Expert Wordpress setup blog.

 

Now, if you haven’t already, you’re gonna need to register a domain name too Robert, and the best place I’ve found is Godaddy, although I gotta tell you, even though they’re going to try to sell it to you, I wouldn’t recommend using their hosting service.  It takes a fuckin’ P.hD. to try to get a wordpress blog running on it, whereas my favorite, inexpensive host service, the crazy simple and much more dependable Hostgator, installs your Expert Wordpress blog in one measly click.

 

Oh, someone a few days ago (sorry I can’t remember your name, but I get hundreds of emails every week!  I’ll remember it eventually) wrote and asked me about which email autoresponder I recommended.  Well, I’ve tried damn near every one on the market, and personally, the one I’ve found to be easiest and most powerful, is GetResponse.  Not to mention you can even use theirs FREE as long as you want and it has NO subscriber limit.  It’s off the hook. 

 

So, like I said, this is just the basics, but it’s definitely enough to get a serious business owner started strengthening their networking business with a blog.  If you have any specific questions, post them as comments or e-mail me like Robert did, and I’ll answer them in a future blog post.
