Managers are focused on running their companies in the most efficient way. There are nevertheless some moments when what happens in the stock market dominates their agendas instead: IPO, communication with investors, M&A and Shareholders’ Activism.

In this session we will focus on M&A and Shareholders’ Activism. During M&A, risk arbitrageurs will ‘trade’ the probabilities of the merger or acquisition being consumed. They have a vested interest in the deal taking place (or not) and will try to influence this outcome. The session will discuss risk arbitrage as well as its impact on management.

In the second part we will discuss the different forms of shareholders’ activism, how to avoid or defend one selves’ against it, as well as its impact on management.
