In 1496 during Christopher Columbus' second voyage to the new world, he discovered the native Taino Indians of Hispaniola (now the Dominican Repbulic) smoking cured tobacco leaves called Cohiba. Today, Cohiba is one of the most recognized and beloved brands of cigars in the world.

First created in Cuba in 1946, the brand is recognized as one of the finest in available from a country known for its cigars. Under the direction of Heinrich Kelner, Davidoff Cigars finally sees success. Their cigar products are made in Honduras and the Dominican Republic. Although they have changed in both location of the factories and in the leader, the cigars still slightly resembles the Cohiba, but with a lighter wrapper.
