BEYONCE STARRING IN YET ANOTHER REMAKE

Beyonce is rumoured to star in the remake of the 1964 TV Series Gilligan’s Island playing the role of 'Ginger Grant' famously portrayed by Tina Louise. Hmmm...come on Hollywood. Are there no original scripts in LA? Beyonce will star opposite Juno and Superbad actor, Michael Cera as Gilligan. The Picture is set to be released in 2011.

It is also rumoured that Russell Crowe has been cast opposite the voluptuous singer in the remake of A Star is Born. This will be the fourth remake for this film. If first you don't succeed - try, try, try, try again!

The classic film was first made in 1937 with Janet Gaynor and Fredric March in the lead roles, which won an Oscar for Best Writing, Original Story. It was made again in 1954 with Judy Garland and James Mason who both won Best Actor Golden Globes for their roles.
Then the film was remade yet again in 1976 with Barbara Streisand and Kris Kristofferson. The picture won an Oscar for Best Music, Original Song.
Maybe this fourth dubb will bring Mrs. Carter a Best Actress Oscar?
Hmmm...what do you think?

Star is set for a 2012 release and has attached The Notebook director, Nick Cassevettes to direct. Mad Men's gorgeous Jon Hamm and singers Alicia Keys and Rihanna are also said to be attached. The film will be distributed by Warner Bros.

LOUIS GOSSETT JR ANNOUNCES HE HAS PROSTATE CANCER

Louis Gossett Jr., who took home the golden prize in 1982 for An Officer and a Gentleman, announced today that he's been diagnosed with the early stages of prostate cancer.

The 73-year-old claims he wants the world to know in order "to set an example for the large number of African-American men who are victims of this disease because of the comparatively low emphasis in our community on preventative examinations and early treatment," he told KTLA News in Los Angeles. "I want to influence them to seek, as I have, the fine medical care and early detection now available."

Wow...I just saw the 1983 Best Supporting Actor, Oscar winner at an event at the Paley Media Arts center last week for the screening of "THE BLACKS LIST" Vol 3. He looked really good and healthy. The Hollywood Glitz hopes he gets well.

Halle Berry is pressing ahead with her plans to play infamous jewel thief DORIS PAYNE, despite the fact the 79-year-old has been arrested for attempting to steal a coat from a department store.
Payne was arrested as she tried to leave a Saks Fifth Avenue store in Costa Mesa, California last month (Jan10) without paying for a $1,300 (£813) Burberry trenchcoat.
Payne was on parole for past thefts when she was caught.
Berry will portray the career thief, who has robbed gem stores around the world, in new biopic Who Is Doris Payne?

Former Destiny Child member, Michelle Williams joins the cast of "Chicago" on Broadway.

Williams, the singing star who rose to fame as one-third of Destiny's Child (along with Beyoncé Knowles and Kelly Rowland), returned to Broadway today in the Tony-winning revival of Chicago.

Williams, who played the role of merry murderous Roxie Hart in the London production of the Kander and Ebb hit, now assumes the same part at the Ambassador Theatre. The singing actress, who succeeds Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, will perform on Broadway through March 28.

ACCORDING TO TMZ
Charlie Sheen will be charged with felony menacing in connection with the Christmas Day incident with his wife, Brooke Mueller, in Aspen ... this according to law enforcement sources.
We've learned in addition to the felony, Sheen, who stars in "Two and a Half Men" will be charged with misdemeanor assault.
We're told the criminal complaint will be filed either late tomorrow or first thing Monday morning.
Charlie Sheen is set to appear in court Monday for an arraignment, though we're told he is not expected to enter a plea.
In addition to the arraignment, the judge will hear arguments from lawyers for Brooke and Charlie to relax the protective order prohibiting any contact between the two.
Charlie Sheen's lawyer had no comment.

Actress Frances Reid, best known for her role on the soap opera "Days of Our Lives," died on Wednesday, February 3, 2010. She was 95. Reid played matriarch Alice Horton on the long-running NBC show from the first episode in 1965 until her retirement in 2007. She was awarded a Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004. In addition to her other TV work, she appeared in such notable feature films as "Seconds" and "The Andromeda Strain."

Sony Pictures Entertainment is slashing its workforce by 6 1/2 percent, the studio said Monday. The studio began notifying the roughly 450 people who will be affected by the layoffs, with most being done by the first week in March.

Dear Colleagues,
In our article in The SPE Reel in December, we
spoke about the shifting landscape of entertainment and its impact on the
economic model at the heart of this industry. Despite the records our studio set
at the box office, we’re not immune from these forces, and we said then that
costs needed to be controlled as part of a sustained and strategic effort to
remake Sony Pictures for the future.

Since that time, in all-hands meetings
and small groups, our division heads and executive team have been in touch with
many of you to talk in more detail about the transformation of the studio and
the kinds of changes being considered.
Last week, the first steps towards
the creation of a new operating model for our studio were taken in our home
entertainment division and the IT department.
Today, we want to let you
know, in a timely manner, what will be involved in the crucial – and difficult
-- next phase of this process.
In several stages, we will have a workforce
reduction, with most of the notifications taking place by the first week in
March. It will affect each of the studio’s divisions, with the majority
occurring in home entertainment and IT, and in the United States.
We do not
have final numbers or specific dates for all reductions now, because decisions
regarding proposals for certain international offices are pending. Local laws
will be governing a consultation process with employees in those locations.
The decision to take this step was difficult. But it’s being done in the
context of a strategy designed to help us safeguard our competitiveness and
chart our own course through these troubled waters.
The need is clear: from
the growth of online piracy, to the social media effect on the performance of
films, to the way people have changed how they watch television and acquire
DVDs. The business is going through a rough period of trial and transition, and
we have an obligation to take the steps necessary to get through it.
As we
said in December, we are grateful to everyone at Sony Pictures for helping us
meet the challenges of this time in our history from a position of strength. And
we are confident that the changes we’re making, as difficult as they are, will
keep us on a path toward greater success in the future.
