The Center for Disease Control has issued a medical alert about a highly contagious, potentially dangerous virus that is transmitted orally, by hand, and even electronically. This virus is called Weekly Overload Recreational Killer (WORK). If you get WORK from your boss, any of your colleagues or anyone else via any means whatsoever - DO NOT TOUCH IT!!! This virus will wipe out your private life entirely. If you should come into contact with WORK you should immediately leave the premises.

Take two good friends to the nearest liquor store and purchase one or all of these three antidotes - Really Urgent Medicine (RUM), Work Isolating Neutralizer Extract (WINE) or Bothersome Employer Elimination Rebooter (BEER). Take the antidote repeatedly until WORK has been completely eliminated from your system.

You should immediately forward this medical alert to five friends. If you do not have five friends, you have already been infected and WORK is controlling your life. You are doomed!!!

Beer Is Really Healthy - For You and Your Hair Too!

Beer drinkers have something to cheer about if a recent report is to be believed: The consumption of beer in moderate quantities (that means one to two glasses only!) could reduce the risk of heart disease.

The findings are based on a meta-analysis of several different studies conducted worldwide from over 200,000 people's drinking habits, conducted by Italy's Fondazione di Ricerca e Cura. It showed that moderate consumption of beer decreases drinkers' risk of heart disease by 31 per cent, just as much as moderate consumption of wine.

Non-Beer-drinkers, no need to despair. You can still take advantage of the goodness of beer by consuming it externally. Use beer as a conditioner for the good health of you hair. Yes, beer is good for your hair! Who knew?

Beer has phosphorus, magnesium, potassium and maltose which makes beer a natural hair care ingredient. Biotin in beer prevents hair loss and dandruff. Maltose strengthens the hair and with vitamin C it brings natural shine in the hair. Although it is debatable whether the corn, rice, or wheat protein in beer can actually deposit on your hair to form a strengthening film, there is no question that it makes hair seem thicker. This effect may be attributed to the proteins left on the hair fiber, though beer also seems to slightly swell the hair shaft.

Don't rush to dispose of your shampoo though; Beer alone isn't going to go ahead and replace shampoo or whatever else you may already use on your head. When experimenting with beer as a hair product, it is recommended to use traditional brewed beer made from hops to maximize nutrients and minimize chemicals.

I know, I know, let's get to the point of how you can consume (eh! apply) beer to get healthy good looking hair.

Here's the recipe:
Put some life back into flat hair with some flat beer. Before you get into the shower, mix 3 tablespoons beer in 1/2 cup warm water. Shampoo your hair as you normally would, rub in the solution, let it set for a couple of minutes, then rinse it off. After you shampoo your hair, rub in the solution, let it set for a couple of minutes, then rinse it off thoroughly. You may be so pleased by what you see, you’ll want to keep a six-pack in the bathroom. Tee hee hic!

Some more natural conditioners for hair

Raw Egg and Yogurt:
Before you get into the shower, mix half a cup of cold yogurt with 1 raw egg (york & all) - not the egg shell, silly! After you shampoo your hair, massage your scalp with the solution, let it set for a couple of minutes, then rinse it off. Rinse off well unless you want your hair to smell of eggs. Yummy!!

Butter:
Is your hair dry and brittle? Try buttering it up for a luxuriant shine. Massage a small chunk of butter into your dry hair, cover it with a shower cap for 30 minutes, then shampoo and rinse thoroughly.

Tea:
To give a natural shine to dry hair, use a quart of warm, unsweetened tea (freshly brewed or instant) as a final rinse after your regular shampoo.

Lemons:
For blond highlights worthy of the finest beauty salon, add 1/4 cup lemon juice to 3/4 cup water and rinse your hair with the mixture. Then sit in the sun until your hair dries. Lemon juice is a natural bleach. Don’t forget to put on plenty of sunscreen before you sit out in the sun. To maximize the effect, repeat once daily for up to a week.

India based Tata Motors has said that it has tested two cars that can run on compressed air, and that the next step is setting up the manufacturing plants to actually build them.

News of Tata's air-powered "Mini CAT" car first surfaced way back in 2007. In 2007, Tata Motors signed a licensing deal with Motor Development International, a French design firm. The idea was to build a car that could run on compressed air. Now Tata says it has tested two cars with the engines. The next step is setting up the manufacturing plants to actually build them.

In January 2007, Tata Motors and Motor Development International (Luxembourg) signed a license agreement that enables Tata Motors to produce and sell compressed air cars using MDI technology in India. The agreement covered two phases of activity encompassing the technology transfer and proof of the technical concept in the first phase, and in the second phase completing detailed development of the compressed air engine into specific vehicle and stationary applications.

The first phase of this program - proof of the technical concept in Tata Motors vehicles - has now been successfully completed with the compressed air engine concept having been demonstrated in two Tata Motors vehicles.

In the second phase of the development, the two companies are working together to complete detailed development of the technology and required technical processes to industrialize a market ready product application over the coming years.

Compressed air engines aren't a new idea. The first models were proposed more than a century ago, and they were used in the mining industry for decades before electric motors became commonplace. Even now, compressed air powers all kinds of tools, notably the pneumatic impact wrenches in auto body shops.

A compressed air car engine works in a way similar to the internal combustion version: Fuel forces pistons to turn a crankshaft and power the car. The difference is that in a compressed air engine, the pistons are moved by air and not gasoline. Researchers in Sweden have experimented with single-cylinder engines of this type.

The only problem is power. Air compression alone only gets a car moving to about 30 to 35 miles per hour. So to supplement that, the car could take in more air as it moves faster, using an onboard air compressor. The air compressor could be electric or, more likely, gasoline-powered. But even that would reduce emissions a lot, since the gasoline engine wouldn't be running at lower speeds.

Range is also an issue. Like all vehicles, an air-powered car can drive only as far as the amount of fuel in its tank. And storing compressed air requires "fuel" tanks that are stronger than steel to contain the thousands of pounds per square inch necessary.

On the bright side, compressing air in such a tank is a lot less dangerous than natural gas or hydrogen. Then there is the issue of filling the car's tank -- most air compressors would take at least a couple of hours to do that.

Tata seems to be the only manufacturer that has committed to actually building an air-powered car. Honda unveiled an air-powered concept car in 2010, and a company called Zero Pollution Motors had promised to deliver one to the United States -- but that was two years ago. (The company's website domain is no longer in use.) If Tata is successful, it will go a long way toward reducing emissions in India -- and perhaps freeing cars from fossil fuels completely.

History of TATA Motors

Founded in 1945, today Tata Motors is India’s biggest automobile manufacturer.

The company was originally created to manufacture locomotives, but in 1954, working with Daimler-Benz AG (a relationship that ended in1969), it created its first commercial vehicle and has been doing so ever since. Since the first car rolled off the line in 1954, Tata has produced and sold over 6.5 million vehicles in India.

Headquartered in Mumbai, the company is ranked as eighteenth-largest motor vehicle manufacturer in the world according to volume, producing trucks, passenger cars, coach buses and vans. While they have five assembly and manufacturing plants in India, they also have plants in the United Kingdom, Argentina, Thailand and South Africa.

Tata Motors is in the process of expanding production into other areas of the world. The company took over Daewoo’s truck manufacturing unit in 2004 and gained controlling rights of bus and coach manufacturer Hispano Carrocera in 2005. But its most renowned acquisition was of top luxury brands Jaguar and Land Rover in 2008, purchased from Ford Motor Company for $2.3 billion. Tata is also the producer of the world’s cheapest car, the Tata Nano.

This was how the Taj Mahal was protected from bomber jets in 1942 during world war. It was covered with huge scaffold, to make it look like a stockpile of bamboo and misguide bombers. The covering is still incomplete in this photo. The whole of Taj Mahal was covered but this picture shows only the main dome covered. The govt. didn’t allow any photographers later to shoot the final scaffold cover.
During the India-Pakistan war in 1971, it was protected by covering it with a green cloth and making it almost invisible i.e. camouflaged within the greenery around it.
Even in 2001, after the Sep 11 attack, Archaeological Survey of India took up the precautionary measure to cover it with cloth and it took them more than 20 days to do that.

From not-so-humble beginnings in 1970, when 20 million participated across the U.S., Earth Day has grown into a global tradition, with a billion expected to take part in 2009. Find out when it is, how it started, how it's evolved, and what you can do.

When Is Earth Day?

Every day, the saying goes, is Earth Day. But it's popularly celebrated on April 22. Why?

One persistent rumor holds that April 22 was chosen because it's the birthday of Vladimir Lenin, the founder of the Soviet Union.

"Lenin's goal was to destroy private property and this goal is obviously shared by environmentalists," the Capitalism Magazine website noted in a 2004 article perpetuating the theory.

Kathleen Rogers, president of Washington, D.C.-based Earth Day Network, said in 2010 that the rumored communist connection is untrue.

Instead, April 22, 1970, was chosen for the first Earth Day in part because it fell on a Wednesday, the best part of the week to encourage a large turnout for the environmental rallies held across the country, Rogers said.

"It worked out perfectly, because everybody was at work and they all left," she said.

In fact, more than 20 million people across the U.S. are estimated to have participated in that first Earth Day.

Earth Day is now celebrated every year by more than a billion people in 180 nations around the world.

Mad People and a Frustrated Politician

Earth Day's history is rooted in 1960s activism. The environment was in visible ruins and people were mad, according to Rogers.

"It wasn't uncommon in some cities during rush hour to be standing on a street corner and not be able to see across the street" because of pollution, she said.

Despite the anger, green issues were absent from the U.S. political agenda, which frustrated U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin, whose campaigns for the environment through much of the 1960s had fallen flat.

First Earth Day "Took off Like Gangbusters"

In 1969 Nelson hit on the idea of an environmental protest modeled after anti-Vietnam War demonstrations called teach-ins.

"It took off like gangbusters. Telegrams, letters, and telephone inquiries poured in from all across the country," Nelson recounted in an essay shortly before he died in July 2005 at 89.

"The American people finally had a forum to express its concern about what was happening to the land, rivers, lakes, and air—and they did so with spectacular exuberance."

Nelson recruited activist Denis Hayes to organize the April 22, 1970, teach-in, which today is sometimes credited for launching the modern environmental movement.

By the end of 1970, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency had been born, and efforts to improve air and water quality were gaining political traction.

"It was truly amazing what happened," Rogers said. "Blocks just tumbled."

Earth Day Evolves

Since Earth Day started, environmentalism has moved from a fringe issue to a mainstream concern, Amy Cassara told National Geographic News in 2010, when she was a senior associate at the World Resources Institute in Washington, D.C.

"As many as 80 percent of Americans describe themselves as environmentalists," Cassara said.

Environmental issues today, however, are less immediate than dirty air, toxic water, and a hole in the ozone layer, she added.

For example, the impacts of global climate change are largely abstract and difficult to explain "without coming off as a doomsday prognosticator," Cassara said.

"As we become more industrialized and our supply chains become less transparent, it can be more difficult to understand the environmental consequences of our actions," she noted.

Earth Day Network—which was founded by the original organizers of Earth Day—is pushing the Earth Day movement from single-day actions, such as park cleanups and tree-planting parties, to long-term commitments.

"Planting a tree, morally and poetically, requires taking care of it for a really long time, not just sticking it in the ground," Earth Day Network's Rogers said.

To help make the transition, the organization is aligned with a hundred thousand schools around the world, integrating projects with an environmental component into the year-round curriculum.

"They announce the results on Earth Day, so Earth Day becomes a moment in time," Rogers said.

Cassara, of the World Resources Institute, said her organization uses Earth Day to convene with leaders in the movement and assess progress in their campaigns.

"[Earth Day] doesn't raise awareness among the general public in the same way that it used to. But it still provides a benchmark for reflection among those of us in the environmental community," she said.

What to Do on Earth Day?

For those whose inner environmentalist speaks loudest on April 22, Earth Day Network's Rogers encourages them to make a public commitment to take an environmental action.

"We are headed for a billion commitments to do something green," Rogers said. "And that doesn't mean think about it—it means do something."

Commitment ideas promoted by the Earth Day Network include pledging to educate friends and family on global warming or buy green products such as energy-saving compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs).

In 2012, Earth Day Network is asking people around the world to take the Billion Acts of Green pledge. Already, 980,952,786 people have participated in a green act, such as planting a garden or participating in an Earth Day event, according to the Earth Day Network website.

The group's goal is to reach one billion actions in time for the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) in June 2012.

"We will present this accomplishment at Rio +20 and use it as a lever to address the UN's inaction and inspire leaders to reach a global agreement at the Rio+20 conference," according to the Earth Day Network website.

According to Rogers, everyone is part of this generation, which marks the transition from the industrial revolution to the green revolution.

"It is also about the green generation of energy and the generation of green jobs. ... The name [Green Generation], whenever I say it to people, they have their own idea of what it means, which is exactly what we want."

Happy Birthday Charlie Chaplin! That's right today is the 123^rd birth anniversary of the world's best known comedian - the greatest silent movie star Charlie Chaplin.
Best known for his role as The Tramp, Mr. Chaplin wrote, directed and starred in a series of silent films that commented on the politics, economy and social structure of the day through slapstick, mime and comedy.

Sir Charles Spencer 'Charlie' Chaplin was born in Britain in 1889 and moved to Hollywood in 1910 to forge a celluloid career.

He became one of the most influential artists of his time, with films such as The Kid, City Lights, Modern Times, The Gold Rush and The Great Dictator, his only 'talking' film.

In 1919 he founded United Artists with fellow stars Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks and D. W. Griffith all of whom were seeking to escape the growing power consolidation of film distributors and financiers in Hollywood. In the McCarthy era, Charlie Chaplin was among the Hollywood stars suspected of communist and anti-American sympathies. In February 2012, an MI5 file on Mr. Chaplin was opened to the public which revealed that the FBI had contacted the British secret service to provide them with information which would enable them to ban Mr. Chaplin from the US.

He was a famous ladies' man, marrying four times. His fourth wife was Oona, daughter of American playwright Eugene O'Neill. Of his twelve children, daughter Geraldine is a well known and acclaimed actress in her own right.

Charlie Chaplin was made a Knight Commander of the British Empire in 1975. He was also given a star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1970.

He received three Academy Awards in his lifetime: Best Original Score for the movie Limelight, and two Honorary Awards.

Charlie Chaplin died in his sleep in Switzerland on 25 December 1977 at the age of 88.

Today while digging into the FundooGeek archives for a research project, one of our Fundoo Geeks found a very informative article. A chat with Dr.Devi Shetty, one of the most renowned Heart surgeons in India. In 2001, Shetty founded Narayana Hrudayalaya (NH), a multi-specialty hospital in Bommasandra on the outskirts of Bangalore City (Karnataka State) in South India. Narayana Hrudayalaya arranged a visit by Dr. Shetty to WIPRO for its employees. Below is the transcript of the Q&A chat.

Q: What are the thumb rules for a layman to take care of his heart?
Ans:
1. Diet - Less of carbohydrate, more of protein, less oil
2. Exercise - Half an hour's walk, at least five days a week; avoid lifts and avoid sitting for a long time
3. Quit smoking
4. Control weight
5. Control blood pressure and sugar

Q: Is eating non-veg food (fish) good for the heart?
Ans: No

Q: It's still a grave shock to hear that some apparently healthy person gets a cardiac arrest. How do we understand it in perspective?
Ans: This is called silent attack; that is why we recommend everyone past the age of 30 to undergo routine health checkups.

Q: Are heart diseases hereditary?
Ans: Yes

Q: What are the ways in which the heart is stressed? What practices do you suggest to de-stress?
Ans: Change your attitude towards life. Do not look for perfection in everything in life.

Q: Is walking better than jogging or is more intensive exercise required to keep a healthy heart?
Ans: Walking is better than jogging since jogging leads to early fatigue and injury to joints

Q: You have done so much for the poor and needy. What has inspired you to do so?
Ans: Mother Theresa , who was my patient.

Q: Can people with low blood pressure suffer heart diseases?
Ans: Extremely rare.

Q: Does cholesterol accumulates right from an early age (I'm currently only 22) or do you have to worry about it only after you are above 30 years of age?
Ans: Cholesterol accumulates from childhood.

Q: How do irregular eating habits affect the heart ?
Ans: You tend to eat junk food when the habits are irregular and your body's enzyme release for digestion gets confused.

Q: How can I control cholesterol content without using medicines?
Ans: Control diet, walk and eat walnut.

Q: Which is the best and worst food for the heart?
Ans: Fruits and vegetables are the best and the worst is oil.

Q: Which oil is better - groundnut, sunflower, olive?
Ans: All oils are bad .

Q: What is the routine checkup one should go through? Is there any specific test?
Ans: Routine blood test to ensure sugar, cholesterol is ok. Check BP, Treadmill test after an echo.

Q: What are the first aid steps to be taken on a heart attack?
Ans: Help the person into a sleeping position , place an aspirin tablet under the tongue with a sorbitrate tablet if available, and rush him to a coronary care unit since the maximum casualty takes place within the first hour.

Q: How do you differentiate between pain caused by a heart attack and that caused due to gastric trouble?
Ans: Extremely difficult without ECG.

Q: What is the main cause of a steep increase in heart problems amongst youngsters? I see people of about 30-40 yrs of age having heart attacks and serious heart problems.
Ans: Increased awareness has increased incidents. Also, sedentary lifestyles, smoking, junk food, lack of exercise in a country where people are genetically three times more vulnerable for heart attacks than Europeans and Americans. Q: Is it possible for a person to have BP outside the normal range of 120/80 and yet be perfectly healthy?
Ans: Yes.

Q: Marriages within close relatives can lead to heart problems for the child. Is it true?
Ans: Yes, co-sanguinity leads to congenital abnormalities and you may not have a software engineer as a child

Q: Many of us have an irregular daily routine and many a times we have to stay late nights in office. Does this affect our heart ? What precautions would you recommend?
Ans: When you are young, nature protects you against all these irregularities. However, as you grow older, respect the biological clock.

Q: Will taking anti-hypertensive drugs cause some other complications (short / long term)?
Ans: Yes, most drugs have some side effects. However, modern anti-hypertensive drugs are extremely safe.

Q: Will consuming more coffee/tea lead to heart attacks?
Ans : No.

Q: Are asthma patients more prone to heart disease?
Ans: No.

Q: How would you define junk food?
Ans: Fried food like Kentucky , McDonalds , samosas, and even masala dosas.

Q: You mentioned that Indians are three times more vulnerable. What is the reason for this, as Europeans and Americans also eat a lot of junk food?
Ans: Every race is vulnerable to some disease and unfortunately, Indians are vulnerable for the most expensive disease.

Q: Does consuming bananas help reduce hypertension?
Ans: No.

Q: Can a person help himself during a heart attack (Because we see a lot of forwarded emails on this)?
Ans: Yes. Lie down comfortably and put an aspirin tablet of any description under the tongue and ask someone to take you to the nearest coronary care unit without any delay and do not wait for the ambulance since most of the time, the ambulance does not turn up.

Q: Do, in any way, low white blood cells and low hemoglobin count lead to heart problems?
Ans: No. But it is ideal to have normal hemoglobin level to increase your exercise capacity.

Q: Sometimes, due to the hectic schedule we are not able to exercise. So, does walking while doing daily chores at home or climbing the stairs in the house, work as a substitute for exercise?
Ans: Certainly. Avoid sitting continuously for more than half an hour and even the act of getting out of the chair and going to another chair and sitting helps a lot.

Q: Is there a relation between heart problems and blood sugar?
Ans: Yes. A strong relationship since diabetics are more vulnerable to heart attacks than non-diabetics.

Q: What are the things one needs to take care of after a heart operation?
Ans: Diet, exercise, drugs on time , Control cho lesterol, BP, weight.

Q: Are people working on night shifts more vulnerable to heart disease when compared to day shift workers?
Ans: No.

Q: What are the modern anti-hypertensive drugs?
Ans: There are hundreds of drugs and your doctor will chose the right combination for your problem, but my suggestion is to avoid the drugs and go for natural ways of controlling blood pressure by walk, diet to reduce weight and changing attitudes towards lifestyles.

Q: Does dispirin or similar headache pills increase the risk of heart attacks?
Ans: No.

Q: Why is the rate of heart attacks more in men than in women?
Ans: Nature protects women till the age of 45. (Present Global census show that the Percentage of heart disease in women has increased than in men)

Q: How can one keep the heart in a good condition?

Laughing is infectious. The sound of roaring laughter is far more contagious than any cough, sniffle, or sneeze. We like laughing because it feels good, but it also triggers healthy physical changes in the body. Humor and laughter strengthen the immune system, boost our energy, diminish pain, and can protect us from the damaging effects of stress. In addition to the positive effects it has on our physical health, when laughter is shared, it binds us together and increases happiness and intimacy. With so much power to heal and renew, the ability to laugh easily and frequently is a tremendous resource. It’s no wonder that more and more people are turning to laughter as a form of therapy to help them overcome personal challenges, enhance their relationships, and support their physical and mental health.

A good laugh makes our bodies and minds feel good, but do we actually know why? Laughing increases blood flow, can lead to reductions in stress hormones such as cortisol, adrenaline and when laughing, the brain releases endorphins that can relieve some physical pain. Additionally, laughter also boosts the number of antibody producing cells and enhances the effectiveness of our T-cells — leading to a stronger immune system. Laughing also facilitates:

A good workout: Laughing exercises the diaphragm, contracts abdominal muscles and even works out the shoulders, leaving muscles more relaxed afterward. It also provides a good workout for the heart. Laughing 100 times is the equivalent to ten minutes on the rowing machine or 15 minutes on an exercise bike!
A change in your perspective: Researchers at the University of California have found that our response to stressful events can be altered depending on whether we view something as a threat or a challenge. Humor can give us a more light-hearted perspective and help us view stressful events as challenges, thereby making them less threatening and more positive.
A positive impact on others: Laughter is contagious, so if you bring more laughter into your life, you can most likely help others around you laugh more. By elevating the mood of others, you can diminish their stress levels, and possibly improve the quality of your social interaction with them.
A longer life: According to recent research published in the Archives of General Psychiatry, elderly optimistic people are less likely to die prematurely than pessimists are. In fact, among the 65-85 year-old study participants, those who were most optimistic were 55 percent less likely to die from all causes than those who were most pessimistic.

Humor Therapy

Humor and laughter are part of everyday life, but recently they are receiving increased attention as a form of therapy. Humor therapy involves the use of humor and laughter for the relief of physical or emotional pain and stress. It is used as a complementary method to promote health and cope with illness.

Although, available scientific evidence does not support claims that laughter can cure cancer or any other disease, as mentioned above, it can reduce stress and enhance a person’s quality of life. Many hospitals and treatment centers have set up special rooms with humorous materials in order to make people laugh. These materials include movies, audio recordings, books, games, and puzzles. Many hospitals use volunteers who visit patients solely to make them laugh, and some cancer treatment centers offer humor therapy in addition to standard treatments.

That’s because we’re just not laughing as much as we used to. Recent research shows that pre-school-aged children laugh up to 400 times a day, but by the time we reach adulthood, we laugh a mere 17 times per day on average! Simply put, we need to laugh more. Below are some strategies to help you raise your laughter level:

Smile. Smiling is the beginning of laughing. Like laughing, it’s contagious. Pioneers in ‘humor therapy’ find it’s possible to laugh without even experiencing a funny event. The same holds true for smiling. When you look at someone or see something even slightly pleasing, practice smiling.
Look on the bright side. Make a list of the positives in your life. This simple act will help you focus less on negative thoughts that are a barrier to humor and laughter.
Move towards the laughter. Sometimes laughter occurs in a shared joke amongst a small group, but usually not. More often, people are very happy to share something funny with you because it gives them an opportunity to laugh again and feed off the humor you find in it. When you hear laughter, seek it out and ask, “What’s funny?”
Hang around the funny ones. These people laugh easily — both at themselves and at life’s absurdities. They routinely find the humor in everyday events. Their playful point of view is contagious. Spending more time with them will help lighten your mood.

CONGRATULATIONS!! to Sachin Tendulkar on making history by becoming the first human to score 100 centuries in international cricket.

Tendulkar became the first batsman in the world to make a 100 international centuries, getting to the milestone against Bangladesh at the Shere Bangla stadium in Mirpur at 5:05pm local time on March 16, 2012. The historic journey to his 100^th international century on Friday took longer than expected, as he was stranded from the unprecedented mark for just over a year. The best batsman of the modern era scored his last century (111) against South Africa at Nagpur during the World Cup on March 12, 2011.

Tendulkar got to his 49^th One Day International century and his first against Bangladesh with a clipped single to square leg but did not celebrate much despite the mounting pressure of expectations from billion plus cricket lovers around the world. By scoring his first ODI hundred against Bangladesh, Sachin completed his set of centuries against every Full Member country in both Tests and ODIs.

"I can't think of anything at this stage, it has been a tough phase for me," Tendulkar told Neo Cricket channel after his innings. "I started off the season well but was luckless. It does not matter how many hundreds you score, you still have to grind it out."

When you're logged into Google or YouTube, a record of all the videos you searched for and watch is logged in your account. You can clear those logs, but up until now you couldn't disable the logging altogether. Here, finally, is how to keep YouTube from recording your video searches and the videos you watch. To disable My Search History, go to this settings page on YouTube to get to the new options. The page lists all the videos that you watched on the site in the past. Note that you need to be logged in to your Google account that you normally use while accessing the YouTube videos.

There are actually two settings to change:

First, click on "Pause search history" which will disable the video search logging.
Then, in the menu on the left, click "History" and then the button at the top, "Pause viewing history" to disable the recording of the videos you view on YouTube.

If ever you want to go back to having a log of the videos you've watched or searched for on YouTube back, you can click the resume buttons.

Daylight Saving Time (DST), also referred as Summer Time in several countries is the practice of advancing clocks so that evenings have more daylight and mornings have less.

Typically clocks are adjusted forward one hour near the start of spring and are adjusted backward in autumn. It is a change in the standard time of each time zone. The main purpose, of course, is to make better use of daylight. We change our clocks during the summer months to move an hour of daylight from the morning to the evening. It is a system established to reduce electricity usage by extending daylight hours.

Though mentioned by Benjamin Franklin in 1784, modern DST was first proposed by the New Zealand entomologist George Vernon Hudson and it was first implemented during the First World War.
Starting on 30 April 1916, Germany and its World War I allies were the first to use DST (German: Sommerzeit) as a way to conserve coal during wartime. Britain, most of its allies, and many European neutrals soon followed suit. Russia and a few other countries waited until the next year and the United States adopted it in 1918.
A move to "permanent daylight saving time" (staying on summer hours all year with no time shifts) is sometimes advocated, and has in fact been implemented in some jurisdictions such as Iceland, Russia, and Belarus.
Many jurisdictions such as Argentina, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Senegal, Sudan, Turkmenistan, and Tokelau can be considered to use a form of de facto permanent daylight saving time because they use time zones located to the east of the time zones they are geographically located in. Thus their local times are later than the time they would theoretically occur under a "pure" system, such as the nautical time system, giving the same effect as year-round DST.
DST is now implemented in over seventy countries worldwide and affects over a billion people each year.
Daylight Saving Time "makes" the sun "set" one hour later and therefore reduces the period between sunset and bedtime by one hour. This means that less electricity would be used for lighting and appliances late in the day. We may use a bit more electricity in the morning because it is darker when we rise, but that is usually offset by the energy savings in the evening.
In the US, contrary to popular belief, DST is not a do-it-or-die federal mandate. If states don't want to participate they can pass a law opting out. It wasn't always that way. In the mid-1960s, 100 million Americans observed daylight saving time according to their local customs and laws, a real patchwork quilt of dysfunction. DST is NOT observed in Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and by most of Arizona (with the exception of the Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona)

The U.S. now has observed daylight saving time consistently for nearly 50 years. Briefly in the early 1970s, during the energy crisis President Richard Nixon put the country on year-round DST but that was rescinded after too many school-bus accidents on dark mornings. There are still detractors, however, who think DST is a waste of time.
DST still has its controversies. In Russia in June 2011, President Dmitry Medvedev abolished DST. After doing without DST for several months, however, many Russians missed it. Vladimir Putin, Medvedev's successor, who won in a landslide victory recently, has announced that the return to a seasonal time switch was possible if public discussion confirmed a need for it.
Most of the United States begins Daylight Saving Time at 2:00 a.m. on the second Sunday in March and reverts to standard time on the first Sunday in November. In the U.S., each time zone switches at a different time.
In the European Union, Summer Time begins and ends at 1:00 a.m. Universal Time (Greenwich Mean Time). It begins the last Sunday in March and ends the last Sunday in October. In the EU, all time zones change at the same moment.
Following the 1973 Arab Oil Embargo, the US Congress put most of the nation on extended Daylight Saving Time for two years in hopes of saving additional energy.
In the US, DST was changed slightly in 1986 when President Reagan signed Public Law 99-359. It changed Daylight Saving Time from the last Sunday in April to the first Sunday in April. No change was made to the ending date of the last Sunday in October.
In the US, the Energy Policy Act of 2005 was passed by Congress and then signed into law by President George W. Bush on August 8, 2005. Under the new law, DST begins three weeks earlier than previously, on the second Sunday in March. DST is extended by one week to the first Sunday in November. The new start and stop period began in March 2007.
Studies conducted in the US have found that DST saves lives and prevents traffic injuries. It allowed more people to travel home from work and school in daylight, which is much safer than darkness.
Because people get home from work and school and complete more errands and chores in daylight, Daylight Saving Time also seems to reduce people's exposure to various crimes
While twins born at 11:55 p.m. and 12:05 a.m. may have different birthdays, Daylight Saving Time can change birth order -- on paper, anyway. During the time change in the fall, one baby could be born at 1:55 a.m. and the sibling born ten minutes later, at 1:05 a.m. In the spring, there is a gap when no babies are born at all: from 2:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m.

History of DST in the US:

1784 - Benjamin Franklin is thought to have come up with the idea for daylight-saving time. In a whimsical letter to a French journal, he said that Parisians could save thousands of francs a years by waking up earlier during the summer because it would prevent them from having to buy so many candles to light the evening hours.

1918 - The U.S. first adopts daylight-saving time, in the same act that created standard time zones, in an effort to save energy during World War I. It didn't prove popular, and, as a result, it was repealed the following year.

1942 - President Franklin D. Roosevelt instituted "war-time," a year-round daylight-saving time to save energy during World War II. After the year-round shift ended in 1945, many states adopted their own summer time changes.

1966 - Congress established a national pattern for summer time changes with the Uniform Time Act. The act came in response from the transportation industry, which demanded consistency across time zones. The U.S. Department of Transportation now oversees time changes in the United States.

1973 - An oil embargo by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries led Congress to enact a test period of year-round daylight-saving time in 1974 and 1975. The test period was controversial; it ended after complaints that the dark winter mornings endangered children traveling to school. The U.S. returned to summer daylight-saving time in 1975.

1986 - The Federal law is amended to start daylight-saving time on the first Sunday in April, beginning in 1987. The ending date of daylight-saving time was never changed, and remained the last Sunday in October through 2006.

2005 - On August 8, President Bush signs the Energy Policy Act of 2005 into law. Part of the act will extend daylight-saving time starting in 2007, from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November.

2007 - Daylight-saving time begins on Sunday, March 11 and ends on Sunday, November 4.

Safety Reminder:

The National Fire Protection Association and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recommend that consumers change the battery in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors when we change the clocks for Daylight Saving Time.

A working smoke detector more than doubles a person's chances of surviving a home fire. More than 90 percent of homes in the United States have smoke detectors, but one-third are estimated to have dead or missing batteries.

Ghee is the Sanskrit word for the purified essence of butter. It is a staple of Indian cuisine and is also encountered in many other world diets. Many claim that ghee can have health benefits but others avoid it since it contains cholesterol and is a saturated fat. To make ghee, butter is slowly brought to a simmer and milk solids and water are removed.

Homesteading weblog Red Hog Blog offers step-by-step instructions and photos for making your own ghee. After the butter is brought to a simmer, solids will rise to the top. You'll scoop these off as they appear with a large spoon. After several minutes of this you will be left with a pot of clear ghee with solids at the bottom of the pot. The author then drains the ghee into a stock pot that contains a colander with several layers of cheesecloth. These will ensure that all solids are trapped but the clear ghee makes it through the filters into the pot. Pour the filtered ghee into jars and it should keep for around six months without refrigeration.

You can use ghee in any application where regular butter would be used, but since it has a higher burn temperature you can also use it for deep frying and other applications where regular butter would just burn.

Ghee is great for the lactose intolerant as all milk proteins are removed from the ghee during filtration. Other possible health benefits of ghee include aiding digestion, and it is often used in beauty creams to soften skin. Since current nutritional information can be conflicting I urge you to use or abstain from using ghee based on your diet's opinion of animal fats. If you do decide to partake, making a batch of ghee is a great weekend project when butter is on sale.

Researchers from the University of South Australia did some historical spelunking, looking for every study about sleep duration in children beginning from the end of the 19^th century through 2009. They discovered 300 such studies, dating all the way back to a French paper from 1897, and found some interesting facts.

Children got about 37 minutes less sleep than was recommended.

Societal hand-wringing over children’s lack of sleep and a tendency to blame the hectic pace of modern life.

Different countries have different standards: in Japan, for example, it’s more or less accepted that kids doze off in class because they’ve stayed up late studying. Australian kids sleep almost an hour more a day than American kids, who sleep less than nearly all other children.

Whenever I go to purchase batteries (AA or AAA) I always debate with myself as to whether to buy leading brand named or generic. And, I usually find people spending considerable amount of time in the battery aisle, I guess with the same question - Which Batteries to Buy? - Brand Named or Generic?

A quick search on the internet revealed that there are some studies done on this subject. Read below for one such research conducted by Wired.

Wired has put together a comparison between expensive batteries and dollar stores batteries that answers the question.

According to their study, name brand batteries from Duracell and Energizer last over twice as long as dollar store batteries. However, when they broke down the cost to energy ratio, all the batteries are essentially equal. The exception is that you have to replace dollar store batteries more often, but since they're cheaper, it balances out. What does this say about choosing batteries?
Wired suggests:

It depends on what you are using it for. Suppose that I was using these batteries for a flashlight. In this case, it wouldn't matter too much which battery I used. If I used the cheaper DG, I would just have to replace the batteries more often. However, suppose that I am using the batteries for my Wii remote or my awesome Syma indoor RC helicopter (these really do fly nice). For these electronic devices, if the voltage drops too low they might not work properly.

Tobu World Square/Park is located in Nikko, Japan. It contains miniatures of the world most historic buildings. All the buildings are 1/25 of the actual size. There are 140,000 miniature statutes of people, no two of them are alike. There are more than 20,000 dwarf trees. It took just 5 years to design and construct this park. The entrance fee to the park for adults is US$23. The Japanese followed the original idea of Maduro-Dam Miniature Park in Holland and Tivoli Gardens to create this massive Tobu World Park in Nikko.

The National Football League (NFL) is the premier organization of American Football in the United States of America. It is considered the top professional American Football league in the world.

The league consists of 32 teams, divided into two conferences [the American Football Conference (AFC) and National Football Conference (NFC)] and eight four-team divisions, with four divisions per conference.
Teams play a 16-game schedule, running from September to January, with each team given one bye week per season. The four division champions, as well as two "wild card" teams from each conference compete in the postseason, with the final two teams competing in the Super Bowl in early February.
The winner of the Super Bowl receives the Vince Lombardi Trophy. The current Super Bowl Champion is the Green Bay Packers, but that will change today February the 5^th 2012.
The NFL was founded in 1920, and was the most popular football league in the country for most of its early history. In the 1960's, it received a challenge from the American Football League, a new league that began to compete with the NFL for the best college prospects. Rather than risk a destructive competition, in the 1966 the leagues agreed to merge, beginning with a championship game that would be played each January between the winner of each league.
This was the beginning of the Super Bowl, which has been played every year since 1967. The AFL-NFL merger became official in the 1970, designating the start of the "modern era" of pro football.

The Super Bowl

The Super Bowl is the championship game of the National Football League's postseason tournament. The winner receives the Vince Lombardi Trophy, named after the coach of the Green Bay Packers who won the first two Super Bowls.
For the first three years it was played, this game was known as the AFL–NFL World Championship Game. After the leagues officially merged in 1970, it became known as the Super Bowl.
Each Super Bowl is designated by a Roman numeral rather than a year. Super Bowl XLV – played on February 6, 2011 in Texas – was won by the Green Bay Packers, defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers by 31-25.
The Super Bowl is traditionally one of the most watched television events in any year, with the cost of advertising during the broadcast costing more than any other primetime show. As a result, companies use it as a launching pad for their most expensive and outlandish advertisements.

Amazing teamwork!
A crew of about 8 soldiers pull up on a main street in Halifax, Nova Scotia. They're in a standard issue WW II type Willys Jeep. In the span of less than 4 (four) minutes they completely disassemble the vehicle, reassemble it and drive off! Well, just about 1 minute 25 seconds to disassemble from the time they open the hood.

Shows the genius that went into the making of the jeep and its simplicity.
