Surviving the Holidays

No matter how long it has been since your loved one died, grief can make the holidays a painful time. But, there is hope. Mt. Zion is offering a seminar that will help you survive the holidays and discover new ways to enjoy them.

Grief Recovery Support Group

Wednesdays, Beginning January 9th 7:00pm-9:00pm.
GriefShare is a 13-week support group for people grieving the death of someone close. It’s a place where you can be around people who understand how you feel and the pain of your loss. GriefShare will teach you valuable information that will help turn your mourning to joy.

Year – End Giving

If you are considering a year-end financial gift to Mt. Zion, please keep in mind that all donations for 2012 must be received by Monday, Dec. 31 in order to be credited on your contribution statement for 2012.

Building/Relocation Fund – Capital Campaign

If you are in a position that you can accelerate the completion of your pledge, please prayerfully consider doing so. The next repayment toward our bond issue will be made on Jan. 1, 2013. We are required to give a 30-day written notice of the intent and amount of the prepayment. That letter will be sent on Dec. 1. The balance on our mortgage is $2,900,000. If you didn’t make a pledge, but would like to help reduce our debt, please mark your donation “Building Fund.” Many of you give more toward your pledge by Dec. 31. You can still do that, but Michelle needs to know by Dec. 1 if you plan to do that so the prepayment amount will be accurate in the Dec. 1 letter she has to write. If you plan to give over and above your scheduled pledge amount from Dec. 2-31, please send Michelle and e-mail (michellewillis@reagan.com) to let her know your plans so that amount can be included in the prepayment notice.

Security Donations

If you are considering a 2012 tax-advantage donation of appreciated securities to Mt. Zion, keep in mind that brokerage firms usually require additional time to complete a security transfer as the end of the year draws near. Again, in order to be included on your 2012 contribution statement from Mt. Zion, those transfers must be completed and posted by Monday, Dec. 31.

Note from Editor: This has been an awesome opportunity for my family and I to do. We’ve done this for a couple years and I have always enjoyed getting to know the students. Some were as old as my parents, and some were around my age. We created awesome relationships that still go on today and loved having the students in our lives. To Live Is Christ: The Life and Ministry of Paul

The Monday Morning Women’s Bible Study will begin a study of Beth Moore’s To Live Is Christ, on October 1 at 10:00am, in the Library. In this study we will journey into the life and heart of Paul the apostle. Along the way we will get to know the “Apostle to the Gentiles” in a new way. Paul understood what it means to die daily, crucified with Christ. As a result Paul shows us how to live fully as a bondslave to Christ. Workbooks are $18. Thursday Men’s Bible Study

Men of all ages are invited to join our Thursday bible study. We will be meeting on Thursdays beginning September 20th from 7:00opm-9:00pm in the Library. Feasting In The Truth

Join Pastor Paul for a look at not only how we learn to study the bible, but also truly live it out in our daily lives. This fall we’ll be discussing together the recently released book, The Bible Questions, by Hal Seed. This book deals with topics such as: Who Wrote the Bible? How Is It Different from Other Books? How Accurate is the Bible? Why are There So Many Translations? Where Is the Trinity Found in Scripture? How Do I Study the Bible? How Do I Apply What I Learn? This class meets on Mondays, October 8 – November 26, from 6:00PM-8:00PM, in the Library. We will eat together, then spend time feasting in God’s Word. Already Compromised

A new study of Already Compromised by Ken Ham, will begin on Sunday, September 16, at 9:00am in the Chapel. This eye-opening study examines the convictions and beliefs of many Christians, pastors, educators, and students, who produce or become leaders in the Church. We will see clearly that we are at war against thoughts which are raised up against the knowledge of God. In the secular arena, the battle is often blatant. In the Christian arena, the battle is often much more subtle. All are welcome for this thought-provoking study.

Beth Moore Study for Ladies

Do any of you lack wisdom? Come study the book of James with Beth Moore and friends on Mondays, September 10-December 3, from 7:00pm-9:00pm, in the Gym. James, the half brother of Jesus, learned that MERCY TRIUMPHS over judgement when he recognized that Jesus was also his Savior. Your study will be enriched by James’ wisdom and unique experience, as well as Beth’s DVD, group discussion, warm fellowship and prayer! There will be a $15 fee for the workbook. The Inheritance – Women’s Small Group

What would happen if we really took hold of our inheritance in Christ? What does it even mean to be a joint-heir with Jesus Christ? The Tuesday Morning Women’s Small Group will begin a study of The Inheritance, by Beth Moore, beginning September 11, from 9:15am-11:30am in the Library. This DVD study will bring you to a personal understanding of exactly what it means to be an “heiress” of God. Beth Moore will guide us through scripture , from Genesis to Revelation, and will show us in detail our inheritance with Christ…both now AND in eternity! Childcare provided. Offering will be taken. Working from Bob Waliszewski’s book about raising media-savvy kids, we will look at how to make media choices – TV, gaming, movies – that can bring your  family closer together.

HAVE A NEW KID BY FRIDAY – October 24 & November 7

We will watch a DVD of Dr. Kevin Lehman and laugh with him about how hard it is to raise kids today. We will also followup with more  content from his book and help each other apply his simple, no-nonsense approach to parenting. Don’t miss this!

We will look at the importance of our holiday traditions and how you can incorporate your faith into your family’s celebrations.
