Thanks to Daniel & Rebsie who did such a wonderful job with the last show – hopefully they’ll be back again soon. I wanted to take a short break from my ‘best of 2011′ shows (again, back very soon) to focus instead on some new things that have come out this year, or that have at least recently come to my attention. I also thought it would be nice to have a feature album again so you’ll be hearing three tracks from the self-titled 2007 debut album by the band Magicfolk who mix together folk, pagan traditions and progressive rock with wonderful results. In addition you’ll hear interesting and wonderful music from assorted different genres. Below you’ll find the track list, plus weblinks to where you can find more information about each artist.

A merry Christmas and compliments of the season to all the musicians who contributed and to all listeners. Send me comments if you like what you hear (or even if you don’t… feedback is so important!). Hopefully I’ll be back in January with a prelude to some special editions of the show focusing on the Best of 2011. If you’ve got your own favourites from 2011 feel free to add a comment here or on the Facebook group for the podcast.

I also recently made an appearance on and chose the music for Steve Davis’ excellent Interesting Alternative radio show. Thanks to Steve for inviting me on. If you’d like to hear the show then you can do so by going to www.phoenixfm.com/2011/12/21/downloads-for-the-2011-best-of-and-ian-fairholm-special/

BTW, thanks to regular listener Tony Owen there is now an App for the Eppy Gibbon podcast show: to find it just type ‘Epileptic Gibbon App’ into Google… & don’t forget you can contribute to and comment on shows via the Eppy Gibbon Facebook group.

This is the 70th edition of the Epileptic Gibbon podcast music show and the blog entry to accompany it. CLICK HERE TO LISTEN. It’s that time of the year again – this edition focuses primarily on this year’s Summer’s End festival, perhaps the UK’s biggest and best progressive rock festival. This is the seventh year of the festival and it takes place over the weekend of the 7th, 8th and 9th of October. We look ahead to the festival via an interview with Stephen Lambe, one of the co-organizers, and there’s music from many of the bands who will be performing (along with a few who aren’t). Not surprisingly the focus will mainly be on various aspects of progressive rock, but as usual we’re pushing at the edges of musical boundaries so just open your ears and listen. Below you’ll find the track list, plus weblinks from where you can find more information about the artists/bands played and the festival.

Total running time: 2 hours and 16 minutes. Downloaded file is 125.2 MB.

3.
Don’t forget, if you want to win a signed copy of Sanguine Hum’s ‘Diving Bell’ album you need to answer this question: Troopers For Sound is Sanguine Hum’s label but, TFS didn’t always stand for that and originally stood for three other words – what were they? You can send your guess either by leaving a comment on this show’s page or by going to the Eppy Gibbon Facebook group page: www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=9610769087
