They shall praise the Lord that seek Him; your heart shall live forever.” Psalm 27:1, 25-26 If our trials and troubles are His Refiner’s fires (Job 23:10; I Pet. 1:6-7), we must continue lifting high the “shield of faith” (Eph. 6:17a) lest doubt and despair crush us underfoot. How goes it this morning, Pilgrim? How goes the battle? Are you winning or losing? Ready for another round or about to go down for the count? Delighting? Or depleted? If your honest answer is the latter rather than the former, do not lose hope—for today’s Manna reveals you’re in good company. Written by David, the lion-bear-giant-killing saint of God, the words “My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?” both haunt and taunt us. When God Seems Far Off

“Why do You stand afar off, O Lord? Why do you hide Yourself in times of trouble?. . .Arise, O Lord. O God, lift up Your Hand; forget not the humble.” Psalm 10:1, 12 Honesty helps us admit it; heartfelt humility helps us deal with it. “Why do You stand afar off, O Lord?” Has there ever been a simpler, more straightforward, straight-from-the-depths-of-the-soul question than this one? No, not really; however, seldom do we hear such questions in a mid-week prayer meeting. And, we certainly wouldn’t let others know if we were feeling that way for fear of being looked at like some faithless atheist. Today’s Manna, written by some struggling, anonymous author, is one we also need to grapple with if we’re to grow in our faith. Our difficulty in admitting these feelings rests primarily in fear and guilt; however, confessing them reveals a sincere struggle of the soul that every saint of every generation has experienced if he’s honest. Currently, me and my wife is attending a bi-monthly seminar on “Fireproofing Your Marriage”. So far, we are really enjoying discussing things about marital relationship within the couple's group of our Church. Each partner in the group is also trying to work on our daily task, “The Love Dare”. Today's reading is a very useful tool in resolving marital conflicts. I believe each couple should try to take note of this post since this has been a great treasure in most successful marriages. And I do agree to what the author says about marital conflicts and problems. I quote this post from “The Love Dare” book by Kendrick. The post is all about the boundaries in dealing with conflicts. Short Biography of Chris Tomlin Chris Tomlin is probably one of the most popular Christian singers today. And he is currently the talk of some of my friends right now in Facebook. This is why I tried researching about Chris Tomlin. Here's a short biography of Chris Tomlin (excerpt from www.about.com) Chris Tomlin was born in east Texas on May 4, 1972 and he grew up listening to country music by bands like Alabama. His dad taught him to play guitar and he wrote his first song at 14. Saved as a youngster, he always knew that God had a specific plan for him, but he couldn't see much beyond following the Lord. He finished high school and enrolled in college, graduating with a degree in Psychology. It was at that point that he started spending a lot of time with Passion founder, Louie Giglio. He took a big step of faith and became involved in the first Passion conference in 1997. The rest, as they say, is history. Related posts:

Brought Nigh and Broken Down

“But now in Christ Jesus you, who sometimes were far off, are made nigh by the Blood of Christ—for He is our peace, Who has made both one and has broken down the middle wall of partition between us.” Ephesians 2:13-14 How wonderful is His Ministry of Redemption and Reconciliation. “Brought near and broken down.” Those are the two main emphases in today’s Manna concerning Christ’s work in a believer’s life. Prior to His “quickening us from our trespasses and sins” (v.1), we were “walking dead men who thought and acted like the world, following the counsel of the prince of the power of the air and fulfilling the lusts/desires of the flesh as rebellious, carnal, children of wrath” (vv.1-3). But, thankfully, the Lord didn’t leave us in that condition. Instead, “God, Who is rich in Mercy and great Love, quickened (Grk. ‘suzoopoieo’—‘to reanimate, revitalize, make alive, give life to, etc.’) us together with Christ and also raised us up together with Him, making us to sit together with Him in Heavenly places” (vv.5-6). Palompon Escapade

An Escapade In Palompon, Leyte I first heard about the beauty of Palompon, Leyte last May of this year. But I really have no idea of what it looks like once we go to the source of its pride. Until one day, when my discipleship group was talking about a possible outing, one of my disciple suggested to try Palompon. And so it was. It took us a couple of months to plan for team building outing for the Men's group. However, along the way, our wives won't allow us to go without them. And so it was. There were also trials in the planning. Some of the original people who joined the planning backed out several weeks just before November 2. But there were still some who pursued the plan since this is their only time to escape from their laborous work. The next holiday will still be months away. Palompon, A Jewel Of Leyte Palompon is a 2nd class municipality located in the North West part of Leyte. Decades ago, it is one of the biggest towns of Leyte. In fact, Ormoc City was just formerly a part of the municapility of Palompon. However, time passed and Ormoc continued its economic and population progress due to its strategic location. Now Palompon remained a municipality, and still a home for the treasures of nature. Related posts:

LASBC 17th Associational Meeting

It has been almost a week that I have been a little silent. It all started last week when I attended the 17th Associational Meeting of Leyte Association of Southern Baptist Churches. The meeting has a theme: “Steadfastness For A Better Harvest” taken from the key verse Galatians 6:9. Since Ptr. Joe Ytom was not able to come due to health reason, the meeting was still blessed by equally powerful speaker, Ptr. Joe Fernandez. The meeting's lectures were about worship leading lead by Cainta Baptist Church worship team and Preaching Lessons taught by yours truly. About 70-80 people attended the meeting and it was indeed a great blessing to each one of us. God's message centered about the “Bountiful Harvest” in the Lord. Ptr. Joe talked about harvest season. By quoting the incident where Jesus ask water from a Samaritan woman, Ptr. Joe explained that the Samaritan woman have become the harvest, and immediately became a harvester where she went to her relatives and told them about Jesus Christ. Related posts:
