I mainly use my box.net to hold eBooks for later access on my Laptop and Android devices.

There is no free client for Linux so I use WebDAV instead. It’s slower but it works.

Start by installing davfs2.
# sudo yum install davfs2
Create your Box.net directory
# mkdir ~/Box.net
Create the davfs2 config directory. It’s in your home dir so it’s not system wide.
# mkdir ~/.davfs2
Disable locking. Causes issues sometimes.
# cd ~/.davfs2
# echo "use_locks 0" > davfs2.conf
Create a secret file to hold your box.net login details. Make sure to “chmod 600 the file”
# echo "https://www.box.net/dav [you box.net login] [your box.net password]" > secrets
# chmod 600 secrets
Backup and update your /etc/fstab file to include your box.net directory.
# cp /etc/fstab /etc/fstab.ori
# echo "https://www.box.net/dav /home/danesh/Box.net davfs rw,user,noauto 0 0" >> /etc/fstab
Mount and you should be able to list ~/Box.net
# mount ~/Box.net
# ls -l ~/Box.net

This is the hard way to do this. I will post a simpler method using Nautilus in a future post.

1. Change to root user
# su -
2. Create the the roboto directory
# cd /usr/share/fonts/
# mkdir roboto
# cd roboto
3. Download the roboto font and install it.
# wget http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/download/roboto -O roboto.zip
# unzip roboto.zip
# rm roboto.zip
# fc-cache /usr/share/fonts/roboto/

I’ve been using Google’s Music locker / streaming service for awhile now. You get to upload 20,000 tracks and getting them on is a breeze with Google’s Music Manager. I’m running Fedora 16 now and here’s I got Google Music Manager running on it.

1. Get into your home downloads directory.
# cd ~/Downloads
2. Download the Google Music Manager rpm.
64bit:
# wget http://dl.google.com/linux/direct/google-musicmanager-beta_current_x86_64.rpm
32bit:
# wget http://dl.google.com/linux/direct/google-musicmanager-beta_current_i386.rpm

3. Satisfy the dependencies. Install the qt-x11 package.
# sudo yum install qt-x11
4. Install the Google Music Manager package.
# sudo yum localinstall google-musicmanager-beta_current_x86_64.rpm

Possible error; make sure you have qt-x11 installed.

Check if the install was successful. In Firefox, go to “about:plugins” in the address bar and look for “Shockwave Flash”. If installed you will see;

Quick Step: If you just want to install the Flash Plugin and not bother about the repo you can download the installer directly and install Flash.
